My Friend Pedro: Blood, Bullets, Bananas
StrixLiterata replied to Ross Scott's topic in Ross's Game List
This is a really good combat loop that also makes you loom like a boss, stretched for a little too long and accompnied by cringy humor. Love/hate -
It's difficult to judge this game: you could, potentially, discover amazing things or break the game in wondrous fashion, but it requires a lot of effort and trial-and-error without a guide, and most of the time you're going to get killed by things you couldn't see coming after playing a juicelss and janky 2d shooter. Doubt for me.

Pretty and novel , but I lost intrest when I realize how linear it was

The soundtrack is the most attention grabbing aspect of this game, and rightly so, but even when you stop head-banging every time you get into combat and "when the devil calls" kicks in, the combat mechanics are going to keep you engaged: ships go in a 2d plane and fire from the broadside like old sailing ships, but unlike them they have shield that cover each cardinal direction separately, can have escorts that can actually weave through the z axis, and can mount turrect to fire all sorts of munitions. The shields recharge with time, and unless you truly spec wholly into turrets, your broadsides are going to be your main source of damage. The result of this is that in order fot a ship to get damaged, one of it's shields must be pounded countinously, and then the enemy must be in position to exploit it's vulnerability, so combat is easy to survive if you just keep your distance, but hard to win, so there is some actual strategy required to get into position to attack wothout being damaged too much yourself, compunded by using the right turrets at the right time, including to shoot down incoming missiles, which you need to do manually. TL,DR: rocking soundtrack, intresting combat, good/great.

Short and Sweet, this one: it was good/great for me, and it will be for anyone who wants to relax and climb some cubes.

This is a fantastic game: it's not just terrifying, but also intriguing and ever novel. Truly something everyone should play: no matter what your preferences or tastes are, no matter how experienced with videogames, if you are reading this, go play Stories Untold right this second.

Great game: it really feels like an adventure, and not only because of the exotic locales: it's got platofrming, shooting, stealth and puzzles, all good. The only thing I have against it i that the ending is bullshit. Not because of lack of effort, it's just that the creator is a smug moron when it comes to ethics in technology.

I'm sure Ross is going to love this one: It's METAL, the guns feel great, the enviroements are weird and wonderful, and the PC is a badass. The only drwaback is that it's Castlevania-hard, but unlike that, you have very frequent checkpoints.

Pass for me: I was never really good with RTSs, but this one had me intrested until I hit a wall

@AP_Pastor I was going to reply "we all did", then I noticed the year. Ah, 2016, when the only thing we had to worry about was the unjust death of an ape

I'm weird wth languages: I'm Italian, but having spent most of my time on the internet as a teen, I speak english better than Italian, despite never having been to an english-speaking country, and when I speak Italian, I randomly switch between every accent I've ever heard, even Sardinian, which is all but a different language.

This game is boring to look at and listen to, and confusing and unrewarding to play. Pass.

I have played the Demo: Thespian Feast. I played a tank class with gratsword and tower-shield, and I found the dance of neutral game needed to get in the right positin and time for a devastating slash to be very engaging, especially against the clone of yours that spawns when you die. This game reminded me a lot of Dead Space, and not just because it apes the aesthetic: the designers love to concoct rooms that put you in a tight spot or optimally showcase an enemy, but in terms of believability they fail completely: the architecture and interior design is on par with Quake, and the music is forgettable. In the end I'd give it a hazy: there are good things here, very good even, but they're stuck in a mediocre mold.

I love this game! It really feels like an adventure, like all games feel when you're a child. In more practical descriptions, it feels like Zelda with crafting: the main loop is going in new parts of the map to get the resources you need to craft or buy a new item to access another part of the map.

Xeno Clash (not sure if its obscure or not tbh)
StrixLiterata replied to VoxenFox's topic in Obscure PC Games:
I enjoyed the weirdness, but I wouldn't recommend it: the design of combat and levels is uninspired and boring. -
I completely agree with Ross on this one: I had fun playing the campaign, but grinding missions for the unlocks wasn't fun for me

How so? I'm intrigued
