How is this a Souls-like game? It's a 2D platformer. I hate gamepads and even I think a mouse really isn't necessary for this.

Slightly mixed feelings about this one but overall a positive impression. On one hand, the story is a complete mess that feels less like a coherent narrative and more like a bunch of loose plot elements and sci-fi tropes that the developers weren't sure what to do with (although it at least feels like they cared about it, whatever it is). On the other hand however, the visual style, graphics, sound design and general atmosphere are all superb, and it seems that I'm in the minority on this but I found the dream sequences very well done and interesting. "Style over substance" is probably an apt description but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

One of the best "walking simulators" I've played. The story, characters, voice acting and visuals are all good as others have mentioned but I think the part where it outdoes other games of its kind is, ironically, the gameplay. It really makes use of the unique traits of the medium of videogames to tell its story rather than just being a straightforward linear narrative. Also, I have to thank it for introducing me to the band Floating Room.

Before the Game Dungeon episode I would have said Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, because they have great nostalgic value to me and I still find them fun to play to this day despite their flaws, but I'd never heard anyone say a positive thing about them before. Actually, when I first saw Ross's video show up in my YouTube feed I was afraid it was going to be a negative review and was very relieved to be proven wrong; hopefully it has helped to foster some positive attention for the series.

I think this game came out a year before the first Warcraft game, so it's probably something that Ross added in himself (or maybe the Warcraft guys ripped off BipBop!).

I mean, not everything is for everyone, sure. It all boils down to how much tolerance you have for dissonance or even for classical music in general. If it does nothing for you then that's completely fine, but this was written in 1936 and is still being performed and listened to to this day and many people say they've been greatly inspired by it, so please do understand that it's not supposed to be "terrible on purpose" and that people aren't pretending to like it just to look smart. Here's a video that attempts to explain why many people admire Webern's music when it sounds so ugly and meaningless to so many others:

Discrepant is now being sold on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/491180/Discrepant/ I bought it a couple of months ago when it was released as an early access title but it was very buggy and badly optimized at the time so I didn't play it for long. At some point since then the developer apparently deemed it finished enough to, without much fanfare, take it out of early access mode and sell it as a full-fledged product even though it's also apparently still being worked on. I still find the current version of it to be borderline unplayable though. It's a shame because I think there's something interesting hidden away here but I can't recommend it to anyone in its current state unless you really want to support the developer. -
The environmental changes of a cooked world.

Sorry to dig this up but I feel obliged to point out that this specifically has been disproven many times. The earth's temperature has continued to increase since the turn of the millennium even though solar irradiation levels have been decreasing on average since then. Many global warming deniers even point to this decrease as supposed evidence for the (bogus) assertion that the earth will soon enter a global cooldown that we should be preparing for instead. https://skepticalscience.com/solar-activity-sunspots-global-warming-basic.htm Blaming solar activity also doesn't explain why only certain layers of the atmosphere are warming up, and why temperatures appear to be rising at a faster rate at night than during the day (measured by comparing average nighttime and daytime temperatures in specific locations) -
Yooo; maybe a little late to introduce myself but I'm Mira, I'm 25 and I live in the Netherlands. I've been watching Freeman's Mind since it had only 5 episodes, but I've always been rather apprehensive about joining these forums, mostly out of general shyness. I'll see how frequently I'll end up using this site but I do love classic forum communication and hope to be able to blend in with the community.
