Xeno Clash (not sure if its obscure or not tbh)
Wwen replied to VoxenFox's topic in Obscure PC Games:
I saw the beginning of of another game they were working on, where there was just a giant rolling pin, stretching forever in both directions, slowly flattening the landscape and weird creatures. That was back in 2013 or so, so who knows if that's still a project. The bizarre world of Xeno Clash left an impression on me though. I'd say it's fairly obscure. -
Yes, I don't think it's a conspiracy, but I do think the racial/identity politics does serve to keep us from seeing how the powerful abuse the system. And the media is totally uninterested in anything that doesn't excite and create titillation. Create fear in people and promise bread and circuses is the strategy. Power seeks power.

It's been this way for a while, but we're just now seeing the symptoms. No empire lasts forever. The whole of the West has lost faith in itself. In the very long-run, I'm optimistic. In the short-term... I think civil war is not likely, we're too comfortable, but having a party assume more power is. The stones for the road have been laid, all we have to walk down it. A financial collapse is likely to be the trigger. The cause of the 2008 collapse still exists. We should have revolted with too big to fail and too big to jail, but I guess the MCU keeps us mollified...

Religious Discussions Thread!
Wwen replied to Reverend_UshankaCat_'s topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Not much of use unfortunately. The church (very generally) is a big part of the rise of atheism. The Baptists I grew up with focus too much on the imminent end of the world and a bunch of other useless stuff. I ended up chasing off the Jehova's Witnesses last year when I politely explained to their pastor that their "good news" was totally useless and not what they should be teaching. The Catholic church has serious issues that make it hard to take them seriously. It takes an agnostic-type person like JB Peterson to revive why we think the book is interesting at all. -
I'm bored with it, but I feel that way about a lot of movies. It's partially age. I've seen most stories in one form or another, so not much is new. But some of it is the degradation of film-making. I think John Wick is boring and the fight scenes go on too long. They're cool and all, but often found myself wondering when this fight scene was going to end. That's no bueno. I blame the fact that copyright lasts for like a hundred years and 6 media companies own everything. Excuse me, I have to go outside and shout at some clouds...

I love OPM and have just been following the manga. Best superman story ever. SAO, is frustrating, because there are elements that have potential that are never used well. The power-couple they set up is good, but then subsequent seasons totally abuse and ruin it.

Halo: Master Chief Collection going to Steam
Wwen replied to Psychotic Ninja's topic in Gaming in general
That's pretty nice, though they can keep Halo 4. It looked great, but the ending to 3 was fine for me. Hated where they went with 4 (space vampire!) I own a bunch of games for the Xboxlive from when my 360 worked, so would like them to make those available to me as well. I basically have no access to them unless I get another working 360. Which isn't high on my list of priorities. -
Just so you know, I clicked the steam link for Kings and Heroes and it's apparently no longer available on Steam. It would be unreasonable to expect you to keep up on such developments, but I thought I'd just put that out there.

Given that it cost nothing to sub to a channel and get an update when something does come out, this seems a little weird. The rareness of it kinda makes it more interesting. I discovered Freeman's Mind after Notch tweeted an episode, then watched everything. I haven't been disappointed, though now I have to wait. Oh well, Ross' dry under-stated sense of humor is worth waiting for. YMMV. Suggestion: A creator similar to Ross (in that he has a certain fondness for weird and less-known <but not always, he just finished sonic adventure> games) is supergreatfriend. I think he did a play-through of Realms of Haunting last year, so on a ven diagram there's some overlap. He has a pretty low-key sense of humor and has quite a lot of content at this point. He's doing play-throughs more than commentary, so that's worth keeping in mind.

You really need to try Xeno Clash I and II. It's a first person fighting game. The game play is unique and good enough for the length of the game. If it were a 8 hour Half-Life 2 thing it might get old. Either way, the universe setting is bizarre and worth experiencing. Just look at screen shots of this game and tell me you don't think "wtf is that?" It's weird and wonderful and not that well known afaik. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno_Clash_II
