ROSS'S GAME DUNGEON: MARTIAN GOTHIC
Generic-User replied to Ross Scott's topic in Ross's Game Dungeon
I've only played WC3 and Prophecy, but man it was good (WC3 that is). I actually own 4 on GOG but I haven't played it yet. Need to get around to that someday, but been putting it off until I have a joystick again, which has been a low priority. -
I'm glad I'm not the only one who always heard that. Other Light Guard: "Hutah!" [overhead jet: EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww] [sparks] [masked breathing]

You know what, new challenge/response if trying to determine if the stranger you've just met frequents Accursed Farms: Person 1: "Last man standing gets to keep all the noise." Person 2: "Now things are beginning to make sense. More later."

ROSS'S GAME DUNGEON: MARTIAN GOTHIC
Generic-User replied to Ross Scott's topic in Ross's Game Dungeon
The Seinfeld thing had me dying. Also this game was giving me vibes from the HL1 mod Paranoia. -
I went and clicked the link and the description for the first episode listed: "Mr. T and his friends battle smugglers in a plot involving industrial piracy of video games hidden in gold medallions." Whelp, that was not a sentence I expected to read today.

I almost spit my coffee. "Thank you for the scrolls. The situation seems under control. We knew we could count on you. In the name of the coven, we are grateful."

Candy Stripers were the term for female hospital volunteers in the US. The name came from the red and white striping of their uniforms that resembled candy canes.

Yeah honestly it felt like a video version of one of those "choose your own adventure" books, but with classic cheesy 90's video acting. I think things could have been better without the floating head. My assumption is it was purely there to show off computing hardware/abilities for the time. A lot of it's dialogue just seemed to be "you have done A, B, and C which has led to X, Y, and Z". Like, no kidding computer head lady, I saw which button got pressed and the guy getting mauled for it.

There's no master list or anything like that if that's what you're looking for unfortunately. The most you can do is check the music you see listed in the credits, rule out any that you already know it can't be, and then start checking the rest. If you still don't find it afterwards, it's means the song is from the game itself, and your best bet at that point is to look into the games soundtrack.

I think it's a combination of factors. The Discord thing I definitely think is one. Certain types of communities seem to be more inclined to shift to that as opposed to others, and this one comes across as the type that may be more likely to shift in that direction. As far as general activity, I've always been too much of a background lurker to be able to comment as to whether it's gotten more dead or not, but it sort of "feels" like its died down lately to me. I think the video pace may also be a contributing factor. Each release is potential for new blood, but with how infrequent things may come out, that works against things in that manner (though the pace comment isn't a complaint; I'm definitely a proponent of "when it's done"). Maybe if in a perfect world the popular AF series like Freeman's Mind and CP were being banged out on the reg, that would increase chances of catching new people with each release, but again, forums seems to be very slowly becoming a more "antiquated" format for communities like these, and aren't as attractive to some people. I imagine the forums here probably wouldn't go away (I was part of one that eventually shut down since there was like 5 active people left), but lack of activity definitely sucks for any forum. Barring new visitors, really the only thing that ever keeps stuff like this going is the frequent participation of the mainstays, though that eventually just turns the place into a giant inside joke that can tend to alienate new people. Who knows. I think the best solution is going to be taking the enlightenment van out to town and bringing some fresh acolytes back to the barn. Say no more, already sold.

Yeah I definitely think you have this confused with someone else's video. A few of the descriptors apply to some of the games he's covered on their own in some ways, but added up together, this was definitely not a game covered in RGD. Though I'd definitely watch it.
