  1. I haven't played the game so I can't comment on it personally but I did watch a review of it that said it was a great walking sim/first-person narrative experience (that's a mouthful). Without delving into spoilers, one of the stories the reviewer talked about looked very interesting, especially with how the gameplay and the visuals connected to it. I just want to chime in and say your avatar and name combo is incredible.
  2. Try not to read anything about this game. Just go into it blind.
  3. If I remember correctly, they're going to be selling each game individually rather than the entire thing as one package. There would probably be a nice angry mob if they tried to charge a high price for each individual game. I'd say $15-20 is the zone they probably need to aim for if they want to make the most without getting everyone mad. At the very least, that's how much I'd be fine with dropping. ...That's not true, I'd be fine with throwing a ton of money at MCC.
  4. Anyone else excited for PC MCC?

  6. I think I vaguely recall playing this when it was in beta. Being a fan of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I was pretty eager to try it out, but it was just fairly unenjoyable TDM at the time. If they've actually added a big world map for you to explore, I can't say that I have high hopes for it because I imagine it'll be something like DayZ where you get killed for no reason all the time. And yes, there were a fair amount of microtransaction options, at least during the beta. Maybe I'll try it again and give a more up-to-date report on the game, but as it stands, I wouldn't recommend playing it.
  7. I've recently finished my every-now-and-then replay of HL2 and its episodes. For HL2 specifically, the gameplay is what won out. There's a story there, sure, but you have to look a little deeper to actually grasp all the background lore. The episodes, though - with how much they focused on the characters, I'd say it was the story for those games, aside from the ending to Episode 2.
  8. I actually liked the Arkham Origins multiplayer mode, even though it was pretty unbalanced and broken in spots. The best feelings I got from it were ripping a victory from the Elite thugs as Batman or Robin. Origins is my most-played Arkham game, almost entirely because of the multiplayer. I did spend a fair bit of time trying to complete the Dark Knight system, which I'd like to say that I *did* eventually get it done. The reward was a little lame, but hey, at least I unlocked a bunch of stuff in the process. I think Origins had one of the best portrayals of Bane I've seen in recent times. Although I haven't read many comics that include Bane (I've read Knightfall of course), it seems his intelligence has significantly been toned down. I appreciated that Origins had a good version of Bane, and comparing him to the Rocksteady version is like night and day. I've heard that Red Hood killed him in some Arkham tie-in comics, which I'd say is really unfortunate since Arkham Knight hinted that he was recovering from TN-1 and Titan. Origins isn't perfect - in fact there are a few things about it that I'm not happy about - but it got unfairly hammered in my opinion.
  9. I'm not sure if the consensus is still like this, but a lot of people were apparently trashing Firewatch. I really enjoyed it. Batman: Arkham Origins had a lot of people saying it sucked but I had a great time with it.
  10. No, no, I think it's important to get input from a lot of people in discussions like this. Don't worry about it. Unless you're just flaming people or posting something completely off-topic, you're contributing to the discussion and your thoughts matter.
  11. If he's open to the idea, I guess he could just SMASH THAT RANDOM BUTTON click the random button for game choice rather than pick something out specifically. Ross has been posting in this thread, so maybe we'll get his thoughts on the idea. You know, I remembered a quote where he said he was stereotyped as a mad scientist, so maybe it hits a little closer to reality than I initially thought. /s Also, yeah, like Fanatic said, it's fine if he doesn't go for it. I want to emphasize that I (and I assume pretty much everyone here) don't want to put pressure on Ross for anything since he seems to be monumentally busy working on the videos anyways. I need to stop making these edits after posting, I feel like it messes with people a bit when they quote something initially and then boop, more content to the post.
  12. Yeah, I guess that's true, but I don't really see it as taking advantage of the forum users if they're okay with the idea themselves. I doubt Ross would be saying something like "Okay, your orders are to buy this and then talk about it. If you don't do it, I'm banning you from the forums." I see it as something probably only a minority of people would do, wouldn't take much effort on Ross's part (I'm assuming), and would be helpful in ascertaining whether a game is generally seen as good or not. Regarding subjectivity, I get that. If that idea actually goes through and a lot of people are saying a game is good, it might make its way to the front of Ross's list of things to play. Could be a quicker way of getting ratings from him on certain things for future parties interested in certain titles? I was just joking with the guinea pig line, guys.
  13. You know, I really like that "pick out a game, have guinea pigs test it, then discuss it" idea. I figure if Ross likes the idea, he might toss it in the beginning of the monthly video chats with fans.
  14. Yeah, I figured it out. Made an edit to my post reflecting that. My bad.
  15. Only a Sith deals in absolutes, Ross. To get back on topic, I'd like to make a suggestion for the Big List. If it's possible and wouldn't be overly time consuming (I'm assuming this can be done automatically but I have no idea), could a button be added that filters only games Ross has given ratings? I expect those games to be the minority on the list, but it'd be nice to find them easily. Wait, I'm stupid, the option already exists.
  16. Hey, I could be wrong. I've only taken a look at the "Random Thread" in the Free For All section, and there was some sort of artist depiction of what I assume to be are a group of forum regulars. Chances are even if it's a clique, I doubt the people here are malicious or hostile. By the way, thanks for the game list. It's going to help a lot in finding adventure games in the style of Still Life and whatnot, which is a genre I've been interested in.
  17. Just from looking at the first page, DriftForce. I'm always looking for anti-grav racers that *actually* play like F-Zero, since it seems Nintendo is dead set on not making any more F-Zero games. Most ones I know of play more like Wipeout than F-Zero where your machine controls like a fat boat with grease all over it rather than the precision of F-Zero racing machines. I'll have to check it out later. As for anything personal, I'll have to comb the list some more before finding anything I'm already a fan of.
  18. Yeah, just as a warning for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, if you play the game unmodded (you should at least grab something that fixes bugs, that game is a mess in that department), the enemies are INCREDIBLY grenade-happy and will throw them constantly from my memories. Stalker's AI hiccups are more just them getting bugged than anything, not them being stupid. Also, this may not fit in overall with the thread, but I have to post this. While I was replaying Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Griggs would NOT stop throwing medkits. I collected a big pile of them, but there were a ton more in the other tunnels and near the Vortigaunt keeping Alyx stable. He didn't stop throwing them after the combat was over, either. I have no idea why. Maybe it's because I edited the skills.cfg file. Shrug. Speaking of Griggs, though - I wonder why the other Half-Life 2 rebel medics don't throw kits like Griggs does. He's the only one who does it IIRC, all other medics have to run up to you and just give it to you directly.
  19. Hey, I'm new here too and I doubt anyone would mind you making a thread like that. I've just avoided posting in the giant threads where it's obvious some sort of clique has formed because it'd feel like I'm walking in on a group of friends conversing and saying something that'd offend everyone without even knowing it.
  20. Just to let you know, if you did something, it worked - at least for me. I was able to follow with no issue.
  21. I feel like Ross would probably at least like it for the environment if he got past the intro and didn't like anything else about it. You can't stop me!
  22. Well, the website hasn't crashed *yet*, but I'm certainly feeling a big slowdown in loading pages.

    F-Zero

After doing a quick search and only finding a single mention of F-Zero GX in this subforum, I figured it was my duty to make this thread. F-Zero: A pretty solid retro soundtrack, Ross has mentioned in a previous video chat he's played a little bit of this game and loved the Mute City track. The Big Blue track is also great. This game has my favorite renditions of Port Town and Fire Field. Link to full OST playlist: F-Zero X: A very rocking soundtrack for a very rocking game. Really, only one track truly speaks to me from F-Zero X, as heretical as that may sound. That song is Dream Chaser. That being said, the other tracks hold their own and are great. Link to full OST playlist F-Zero GX: Here we go. While F-Zero X has a great soundtrack, there's not too much variation. F-Zero GX's soundtrack - the way I see it - has a song for everyone. And they're generally really good. I should mention that the songs for the race tracks in this game have two stages - one for the first two laps and one for the final lap. Link to full OST playlist F-Zero GP Legend: A tie-in to the F-Zero anime of the same title (The F-Zero anime is also referred to as F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu). While I haven't played much of this game, it does have some enjoyable songs. The game utilizes the SNES style of gameplay. Link to full OST playlist F-Zero Climax: Released only in Japan, I haven't even had a chance to play this game. A sort of continuation of GP Legend, I believe this game doesn't have actual story mode missions so it doesn't do much to advance the plot. Link to full OST playlist Special Mentions F-Zero Falcon Densetsu/F-Zero: GP Legend aka the F-Zero anime. Unfortunately, the show's official soundtrack was never released. There are people on YouTube who have attempted to rip them from the show, although those rips contain various sound effects that play during the episode and aren't of the highest quality. The channel "Superdude1306" attempted to rip all of the tracks from the show, so if you're interested, check out that channel. You CAN find the opening and ending songs easily enough, though. They contain lyrics. F-Zero Fan Arrangements: With how good the quality is of the original songs, it'd be almost criminal to not mention fan covers. I don't have much to say on these, so I'll just post a few I like. Links Other Nintendo Media that includes F-Zero Music: This is where most people will have probably heard a song or two from F-Zero - Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8's F-Zero DLC tracks Links Edit: Added information regarding song "stages" for F-Zero GX, added new section of F-Zero music from other Nintendo media, added links to full OST playlists, cleaned thread up by removing favorites sections, altered title and removed linkspam warning, removed a few songs from other Nintendo media section
