  1. Hey, that's the same dev that made Nyet III and The Cave World!
  2. As of this update, that feature has been added!
  3. I updated the title of this thread to “Website issues and improvements”, since the forums have been unified for quite some time now. We also upgraded the version of Invision Community to the latest one. However, this may have caused some unwanted issues. I would like you to report any problems that you do have in this very thread.
  4. Wasn't that a thing, like, 4 or more years ago? I recall him having plans for animations about some of his stories a while ago (he said that in the 2015 announcements video IIRC), you might want to see that come into fruition.
  5. Hey, I do have all the video downloads backed up, but yeah, we removed them during the migration for technical reasons. I could help set up a torrent, I don't think Ross would mind it at all (will ask him about it later).
  6. ed is a text editor predating monitors (people used teleprinters back then), so it's very obtuse. I guess you could compare using it to wandering in the dark only being able to see what's right in front of you. Anyway, this is a great conversation, but it is getting massively off-topic.
  7. Ed is the standard text editor.
  8. “Bringing Up Grandma Considered Harmful”
  9. That scenario was imagining someone who really is a total newbie with not much experience to warrant the use of Windows apps, so I wouldn't imagine that to be much of an issue anyway. I do agree with your sentiment on the decentralised nature of Linux being a detriment for mass adoption. It's not really an OS per se, there's a whole community with its schisms and what-not. Someone new to computers definitely isn't going to install a distribution all by themselves, it's usually a tech-savvy relative helping out.
  10. Be careful, there are spambots on the loose! (Just checked and the one you replied to was one.)
  11. I actually think that both user groups you mentioned can be satisfied with Linux. A newbie (like your grandma) can have a great time on a user-friendly distro (e.g. Linux Mint, elementary OS) doing basic things like web surfing or using office applications; in fact, I'd go so far as to say that they'd have a better time using Linux. The actual people having problems with Linux are power users that already have everything figured out on Windows (like Ross). They're going to have a hard time because a lot of the more complicated use cases require more hoops to jump through on Linux or simply aren't documented well. I'm not saying this is a non-issue—it definitely is one—, but it's a different thing altogether.
  12. I think it's completely fine at its original RPM, but the "audio strobe" part at the end might be too much for some. If you want more not-so-listenable but still good music, there's this: (I prefer Cap.IV off the same EP, but that doesn't have the nice video. Autechre is also great in general, I can easily recommend most of their music—even the eight hours they released last year.) And this as well: Some other music I like (also being overdue on my homework): Finally released after 21 YEARS Really great sound, especially in their live performances. (R.I.P. Kõmmari)
  13. Great episode, very succinct. I would really like to see a drawing of that in action.
  14. @RaTcHeT302: The site is open-sourced on Github, so it is entirely possible to host it locally! (Although for technical reasons, you have to go to a previous revision of the repo for the model data.)
  15. @ramipastrami, @XxZARxX: please ask those questions in the Reddit thread. I'll be locking this thread to prevent any further confusion.
  16. Also a spammer.
  17. @Rus.T: The button is on the right, like this: @sheridanm962: Having a follow buttton for each genre isn't really possible, since technically, they're all in the same category (the filtering is done dynamically on page load). At least one person has requested an RSS feed, though, and it's not that hard to add one.
  18. Yeah, no, it's just a spambot going off keywords. I would recommend people search the username off a forum spam blacklist (like Stop Forum Spam) if they're not sure about it.
  19. After a lot of people requesting it, the game list now has comments!
  20. You already can, Sort By→Ross's Rating. This is a pretty commonly asked question, does anyone have ideas for making this more obvious?
  21. https://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/All-Knowing_Vortigaunt
  22. Sort By→Ross's Rating should do it for the moment. We did have buttons for the ratings, but Ross decided against it since the vast majority aren't rated.
  23. It's more dummied out, really. I'll see if I can get it disabled.
  24. Yeah, you can search across the whole site but you can also search for games only (specifying the content type); I personally think that having another searchbar that serves the same purpose is a little redundant. EDIT: Perhaps it could be made more obvious, but I don't have any good ideas for that.
  25. There is a search feature, in the top right corner of the website.
