  3. Spec Ops: The Line is one of the few military shooters to cover PTSD and the Horrors of War successfully and with maturity. Being primarily based on Joseph Conrad's novel "Heart of Darkness" and the film "Apocalypse Now", the story is a gripping, mature, and intense experience that if not enjoyed, at least needs to be played by everyone who normally enjoys shooters and the power fantasy of such. In regards to the soundtrack, it uses a number of licensed tracks, that play during some of the more intense combat sequences and during downtime, which include: Deep Purple - Hush ( )Alice in Chains - Rooster ( )Bjork - Storm ( )Mogwai - Glasgow Mega-Snake ( )Mogwai - R U Still In 2 It ( )Giuseppe Verdi - Dies Irae, Libera me ( )Nine Inch Nails - The day the world went away ( )Martha and the Vandellas - Nowhere to run ( )Black Mountain - Stormy High ( )The Black Angels - Bad Vibrations ( )Jimi Hendrix - A Merman I Should Turn To Be (link) The Black Angels - The First Vietnamese War ( )Jimi Hendrix - Star spangled banner (link) Inner Circle - Bad Boys ( ) But also uses some original music. Most of it sounds gritty and dark, while reinforcing the military themes of the game in a way that not many modern military shooters would feel confident enough to do. For example, this plays near the beginning in one of the first combat sequences of the game ( ). Sounds pretty milituristic, yet you can tell there's something off about it, like there's some uneasiness in what's going on. This further continues into the game, such as when you're sniping soldiers from long range or stalking enemies ( ), it's both calmish and intense at the same time. It also has some more acoustic moments ( ), as well as darker moments ( ), and it just gets more and more gritty towards the end of the game ( ), where you fight overwhelming amounts of soldiers on your quest of insanity at this point ( ). All in all, a pretty interesting and intense soundtrack that really sticks with you after playing it.

  5. Thief II: Deadly Shadows There be no greater stealth game in existence, I stand by that statement. I can see why some consider it to be the best game ever made, but I dunno if I could go that far. An amazing game, and I'm saddened there are less games like Thief 2 made.
