It is not my intention to censor you. But if you want to stop, then stop. Nobody is forcing you to argue. I'll tell you what I DO want though. I want people to stop listening and believing. I want people to question the narrative. I want people to do their own research on the matter. If you want to know what Gamergate is really about, open up your mind by disregarding anything you have heard before, then pick a GG community, and listen in (I recommend Facepunch). Listen to what they actually talk about. If you have questions or concerns, ask. Open a dialogue. Just be mindful of the rules for the community you talk to. Fair warning. Anti-GG considers talking to GG at all to be a crime of the highest order, so you may want to be incognito. And if you can't be bothered to do that level of research, then PLEASE stop acting like an authority on the matter.

The reason Gamergate still talks about his court case is because of the legal loophole that Zoe Quinn used to infringe on his right to free speech. Winning his case would mean that same loophole couldn't be used again. But don't take my word for it. Read all about it here.

I'm all for that, however, when the topic comes up for what problems actually remain, it's usually things like "there aren't enough women in x field". The fact is, gender has a very real biological effect on what interests a person will have. Women tend to be interested in jobs that involve social interaction, and men tend to be interested in jobs that involve mechanical things. IIRC this causes a 90 - 10 split in many fields. Sorry if you feel like I was ignoring you. It was unfortunate timing, I suppose. Other than monitor certain communication channels and digging for info, there isn't much to do. There's already plenty of people monitoring, and discussing what has been found. Not everyone has the skillset for proper digging, either. Since it's really hard to get a message across when a bunch of people are trying to label you as misogynists and harassers, why not point out the flaws with whatever they say? Leaving a factually incorrect narrative unaddressed is the worst thing they could do, as then EVERY voice would be condemning them, and there wouldn't be a reason for those not in the know to question the narrative. The idea of a name change has come up numerous times in Gamergate discussions. As soon as the new group talks about journalistic ethics, sites like Gawker will go "oh look, its Gamergate with a new name, they are still misogynists" and NOTHING will have been accomplished. Worse, not everyone will get the memo about the change and the group will inevitably shrink. Someone needs to be the counter-balance to the ridiculous notion that Gamergate is a misogynist group. Besides, I think we were finally getting somewhere. His hatred of Gamergate seems to stem from the idea that anything that opposes his particular brand of feminism must be misogynistic. That's terrible logic. Here, allow me to show you how it's terrible by re-configuring it into something you would certainly disagree with. See? It's completely unrepresentative of the opposition to third wave feminism. Much of that opposition stems from third wave feminists saying things like #killallmen while receiving absolutely no criticism from other third wave feminists, third wave feminists who think that the opinions of straight white men are automatically invalid, and third wave feminists that think that you can only be sexist towards women and not towards men. Granted, these behaviors/opinions don't seem to be part of the stated goals of third wave feminism, but I've yet to hear of any third wave feminists opposing this shit. Correct. This will not end until one side or the other succeeds. Gamergate, as it is right now, will continue until the very last holdouts either adopt a journalistic ethics policy (and follow it), or die out. The way things are going, it seems Gawker Media would sooner die than have a simple ethics policy. If and when that happens, the original goals of Gamergate will be fulfilled, and many people will just go back to enjoying videogames. Others, however, will continue fighting those who are intellectually dishonest.

Search engines and social media actively block them from seeing things that would criticize them; kind of an ultimate realization of the first rule written in "How to win friends and influence people." And from what I've seen, progress is being made. To say that no progress can be made is to say that all of anti-GG are completely unreasonable. To say that they are all completely unreasonable is... well, unreasonable. There are different sub-groups among anti-GG, including, but not limited to: those who know exactly what they are doing and are doing it for profit, those who feel a need to bully, and feminism is the 'socially acceptable' outlet for it, those who want to be a 'good feminist' but just don't know the right way to go about it, and those who support the journalism ethics goal of GG, but are too afraid of losing their 'friends' and/or being harassed if they speak up. Some of them can be reasoned with, some can't. You won't know where someone lies on that spectrum until you talk to them. GG isn't against feminism, as I've said before. They are against those who slander GG, videogames, and gamers. Right now, there's several people who are using the banner of feminism to do that. That thread doesn't really cover the journalist side of Gamergate and the thread itself is pretty toxic. A good portion of it is just mudslinging. I really don't want this thread devolving into mudslinging if it can be helped. I say it was worth a read, for 2 reasons. 1. This post. It does a pretty good job of explaining the situation, plus the deepfreeze.it link for all the corruption stuff. 2. It made it very clear that I shouldn't waste my time on ThePest179. He/She has had the opportunity to go through all of the information in the linked post, and is somehow still convinced that it's all just misogyny.

I'm just saying that proclaiming that you wish they would die is a little extreme. Maybe them being court ordered to not use the internet for a few years would be a better thing to wish for. Trying to be peaceful against threats may seem silly, but any sort of retaliation will be used as propaganda. Winning a war against extremists is about winning hearts and minds. Winning hearts and minds is about being the better person. And I mean actually being a better person. not just calling yourself feminist and using that label as a criticism shield or an excuse to bully people, like some of the anti-GG crowd do. Obviously, for an actual war with violent extremists, you can't just let the extremists bomb whoever they want without consequence. It's all about how you go about dealing with them. Not killing civilians would be a #1 priority. For the extremists, their #1 priority is to trick your army into killing civilians so they can shout about how terrible your army is, and how people should join their cause. Don't kill civilians, if you can at all avoid it.

You can't stoop to their level either. Harassment is bad, no matter who the target is. But, there in lies one of the problems. The more vocal anti-GG don't think that way. They think 'there are no bad tactics, just bad targets', never realizing that they have become the thing they think they are fighting. Many of these people just automatically assume that anyone even loosely associated with GG are sub-human, and that line of thinking results in this:

If you respond to harassers like that, you aren't that far off from becoming one yourself. Just a simple "fuck off" should suffice. Well, TotalBiscuit is the biggest GG name I can think of, and he has already stated that he doesn't want harassers as fans. Which is, in essence, a "fuck off" message.

Please, show me where this mountain of evidence is, because all I see in those wiki articles is sweeping accusations with little to back it up. It's like what Ross said in his video. Stating that "all bikers run meth across state lines" is factually inaccurate. Same goes for dismissing the entirety of Gamergate as misogynists. Like with any community on the internet, there are bad apples. Gamergate will at least call out anyone being a shithead on their side. Meanwhile, anti-GG blindly defends someone who has admitted to being a pedophile, simply because that person supports their narrative. In the few places on the internet where discussing Gamergate at all doesn't get you censored and banned, you will find overwhelming evidence that Gamergate aren't the demons that the media is trying to portray them as.
