  1. Well, if power is there, it will be abused. It's an unwritten rule at this point and it goes without saying. Is it an issue? Well, yeah. Do I expect anything can be done about it? Well, no. Police officers are government workers. Not just anyone can pull a superhero act and change the law enforcement of a nation. In reality, the people have to be changed. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."
  2. Yeah, and I remember a thread on the Steam forums where people were basically saying that thinking traps are weird and then rejecting them when you are getting involved with them(before the fact) is "weird". Uh... Okay? Maybe tell me before you lead someone on, is all. Goes the same way with LGBT+, since you can never know what someone's intentions are. This stuff happens.
  3. I pick Attack Helicopter, as stated before, because it's not even for the "lulz" anymore. It's obligatory. Anyways, I'm not LGBT+ but I don't care about anyone's preferences, as long as you don't try to change me (which if you get into the "culture" of traps, apparently that's a conflicting issue, but let's not go there).
  4. I'm spoiling myself by laughing at DramaAlert's videos. Really, he's absolutely disgusting to look at knowing what he is, what he has done, and what he currently does.
  5. I've heard Syndicate's voice from somewhere... He collabs with some people I watch, frequently I think. Then there's Keemstar who has the quintessential "asshole" youtube channel. "Drama Alert", seriously? It's a ridiculous channel and I'm baffled by how he got any subscribers at all(other than the fact that people love arguments). Aaaaanyways, I'm feeling pretty tired. My sleep schedule is pretty messed up. I've been staying up all day until 6 am because I can't sleep. P.S Drama Alert is google translated, wow, hahaha EDIT: Also, amazing.
  6. As somebody who is a dreamer, I love this thread. It gives me the butterflies with every picture I look at.
  7. I'm curious as to how far Ross' point-and-click interests go. How much does Ross like point-and-click adventures? I'd ask questions about life because Ross seems(and I'm assuming IS) like an amazingly deep-thinking person but I also feel as though it's too personal of a subject to talk about. The only thing I would ask about is stories about points in life where you may have had no idea what you were doing, because that fascinates me as a "phase" in somebody's life in today's society.
  8. Something that I always wonder is : WHY? I mean, do hackers and what-have-you care at any point at all that they ruin games and the like? I mean, you hear all of these stories and it's always assumed that hackers completely destroy the fun of the game, causing many many people to quit and to never return. I'm especially curious when it happens to games where they spend money to do it.
  9. I honestly thought that when Newell said that, he meant they wouldn't put a *single* person on it, so I 'unno. He makes a good point, though. There's no reason to make it if there's no incentive.
  10. Following the theme of New Years Eve and my Scottish heritage I just drank some single malt scotch whiskey, Scottish style. I honestly don't get the big deal about it. It doesn't taste that bad. Also, shortbread cookies. Amazing. I love how natural and sweet they taste. I also had some classic calamari, but made the "proper" way. They were from a, IIRC, siberian(is that the russian-esque country?) restaurant. They're alright but they're different so it's hard to get used to eating a rubber-like piece of food. EDIT: Serbian, not Siberian. No idea how I mixed them up.
  11. Finally accomplish my dream of being a rich evil mastermind, so I can sit around and watch TV... Evilly. EDIT: Also, continue to do things I enjoy rather than caring what others think. That's pretty important.
  12. I've played with the new Phlog, and believe me, it's bad. I believe that the phlog will always be one of 'those' weapons, weapons that will always be hated not matter what. The new Phlogistonator charges faster than before and the complete invulnerability provided during taunting allows it to be used way too aggressively. If you have full 'mmph', you can WM1 right into the thick of it and pop the invuln as an immediate and easy refresh when things go south. This is how any Pyro wielding this weapon can cause massive amounts of damage and chaos without the corresponding amount of skill needed you'd expect. It's a shame Funke didn't mention this. Well, they DID buff the Phlog. Honestly, buffing the Phlog just goes to show you that they have no idea what they're doing. They also debuffed demoknights which is ridiculous considering it required more skill than luck (yes, it is effectively 1/2 hit kill with charge but it's pretty hard to set up instakills with demoknight). Honestly, I don't even know why people complain about them. It's like complaining about random crits, which I still think is bullshit personally because I'm 99.99% sure that every death I can remember is the result of a crit. It's just too common to call random. The changes they made to Pyro overall are just atrocious. Then there's the toxic community that starts fights/instigates/annoys others for no reason other than "lol internet u mad nub" but that's just something to bring up to shame people in general. That's not the end, though! Then there's people than complain about people suck (which includes me aka I suck) in PUBS (because who expects pubs to be filled with people who just want to have fun and not play, gee I 'unno, COMPETITIVE? Nope, not logical at all), and Valve official servers, even. Hell, it seems like custom servers get annoyed on purpose.
  13. I'm interested, if only because Minecraft Faction servers are breeding grounds for petty war strategies.
  14. How does everyone feel about the classic "I don't know what I'm doing with my life and it's spiralling out of control as I have no more nor' do I have the time to figure it out"? That always riles up the crowd, for some reason. Is it really ANYONE's fault if they can't adapt to society as easily as others? Life is hard. So is fitting in with society standards(education system for example, which encourages a forced mentality that being rushed in learning just prepares you for life, which apparently is a constant race according to every "intellectual", as well as education not being limited even though it is). I can see myself being a lonely angry person in the future complaining about the education system, the government, social standards, people in general, like some kind of edgy teen. I'm bad at this ranting stuff and I also feel constant shame in talking to anyone about any kind of issue(See : Any discussion on the internet that is remotely serious, talking to friends about serious emotional topics, talking to family without making them freak out). This is how this thing works, right? I rant and then feel better about myself? EDIT: Also, the worst part is being pressured by other to succeed when you know you can't. That's always fun.
  15. CONSORTIUM, Alpha Protocol, Summoner. Steam Sale, everyone. Steam Sale. All 3 for $7.
  16. Well, I've been drinking a lot of hot chocolate lately but I was thinking of following the fad of "Get drunk on New Years because last day of/first day of the year". Pretty sure no one has anything better to do on New Years anyways, amiright? Everybody else is too busy doing the exact same thing.
  17. Have you even ever made a youtube video? Asumming that they arent good because they use machinima is absurd. Guess what thinking like this is what makes for people to succeed even harder. What other totally stupid criteria do you use to say something is good? You're clearly letting emotions justify your thoughts and, of course as the internet standard goes, assuming everything to fit your conclusion. I never said they aren't good because they use machinima nor' do you have to make a youtube video to criticize and judge one. I can eat a cake and decide that it tastes bad, was poorly made, and overall looks appalling. Does the fact that I don't cook mean my opinion is negated? No. It still looks appalling, was poorly made, and tastes bad. Now, if you listened for even a mere second you would know that I'm not saying machinima isn't worth it nor' does it make you a bad channel if you take on a contract with them. They just aren't worth it in the long-run to deal with and would be more of a headache than a saving grace. I'd rather attempt youtube by myself than effectively sell my soul to a company that is pretty well known for being absolute assholes. EDIT: I also made a mistake in my post. I meant to say that "it's not any good" not that they are a bad channel but that getting assistance from somebody that is going to screw you over is going to make the venture nearly pointless.
  18. Well, I'm playing through Doom 3 for my first time. Probably going to finish up Gurumin afterwards.
  19. Victory has never been sweeter? Man, now I wish I played more multiplayer games so I could have hilarious stories to tell. My experience have always been tame and not very noteworthy.
  20. "Potentially good channels"? Eh... They're not any good if they're being crushed by a giant iron fist(The actual "partnership" not being any good, that is).
  21. I haven't had any problems so far but I'm a paranoid person. There could have been any change and I wouldn't know about it.
  22. I absolutely agree with all of that, it's just the possibilities are unknown. An AI could very well get the grasp of emotions and conscience but be an absolute psychopath. It could totally happen and it's only because we would build it off our own design(meaning that if our mind can birth a psychopath, an AI probably can too). The natural world manipulates its own elements all the time. I suppose an example could be our own body, which has many natural processes that manipulate elements for sustenance(Mmm, sweet sweet GLUCOSE). I feel like the issue here is that you can add as many implants you want but when do you stop being a fleshy bag of meat and instead represent what a robot would be? Imagine somebody who had metal arms and hands, legs and feet, makeshift eyes(glass eyes or something like that) and a metal torso but then suddenly everything else is fleshy on the inside. Is it any different? I suppose in a way it isn't but it could possibly affect the way we deal with appearances. I'm pro-technology anyways, I just think there's a limit.
  23. My guess is that their business model is OK, if you can get a decent contract terms. E.g. not a 5-10 year contract but a 1-2 year contract without any automatic renewal BS. Because if you have a very small channel you aren't really getting anywhere, so exposure the Machinima gives you for 1-2 years could be just the right amount for you to become known. Theoretically after a year you could become somewhat popular and maybe even have 100k subs or something on your own, without any external help (that's the theory). Think of if as a big marketing campaign where you don't pay up front to the ad agency but you agree to share your future income that will increase from the said marketing campaign. The deal in its essence is not bad - hey you don't have much viewers and we have big viewer base, we will expose your videos to our viewers if you share the income generated from those new views of your videos. Therefore I bet there are many people thinking that no matter how much you don't like the deal, its either this or no youtube channel at all. One year is quite a while and if you're getting exposure from Machinima, people know that you're contracted to Machinima. As mean as it is to say this, you'd think people would stay away from such channels. It would teach people a lesson and it would deal a blow to Machinima.
  24. I was joking, for the most part. The Deus Ex series (especially Human Revolution) has some legitimate topics in the story and the way it approaches them is amazing. I think the de-humanization comes from the fact that, without our ability to manipulate the world (like all other animals), we would be a biological organism like any other on this planet. Technology is an invention of us manipulation the elements of the world so in a sense it's "unnatural" but it is also very natural because... It's what we do? We have intelligence for a reason? I find it hard to argue because "it is because it isn't". One could argue that manipulation of the word is unnatural but another could argue it's natural because it comes with being an intelligent species. Human Revolution approached the idea that getting biomechanic(I forget the exact word for it) implants is unnatural because you're changing your biological state and diverting it from the path that genetics sets it on, e.g. giving you an implant that lets you jump really high despite you not having genes corresponding to that ability.
  25. Relaxing to music while flipping through four of the same tabs over and over. EDIT: Contemplating my life like some kind of cheesy teen drama may be included.
