  1. I suppose it's situational. Music comment sections can get pretty bad, especially when you get into people comparing two completely different artists. That become a popcorn fest itself.
  2. The issue here is that Youtube is a breeding ground for ignorance and general asshattery. It's the internet. It's a cancer.
  3. So, again, which one is it? because copyright and trademark are two totally different things, yet i cant read out wheter you mean copyright or trademark? It's a copyright issue . I was just saying that they don't have anything to trademark in the first place, for the most part. Edit: My point being that they weren't trying to trademark the REACT brand but the word itself(which, as I checked, in this context is a copyright, not a trademark).
  4. So is it trademark or copyright issue? because there is HUGE difference between the two, as trademark does NOT extend backwards in time, from what i can tell. It's copyright but they tried to imply in their original video that their trademark has been infringed upon before(e.g. their "format", which I think it's a reference to the Ellen show). I find that hard to believe because, well, it's a react show. At the core, there's nothing specifically different than other react videos other than specific logos(their REACT logos) and production value which is irrelevant. That being said, they don't have much to trademark in the first place. If they had brand-specific merchandise then... sure? Otherwise, they really only have their logos. That's it.
  5. Unless you got there less than two minutes after I posted, which you didn't, that's a complete and barefaced lie. And oh, look at the timestamps. And Finebros IS NOT FUCKING COPYRIGHTING THE FUCKING GENRE. They have explained exactly what they're ACTUALLY doing, and people like you are FLAT-OUT FUCKING IGNORING IT. The only "evidence" you sheeple have is "But reaction videos are being taken down!", and that was ALREADY HAPPENING. The Finebros did NOTHING WRONG HERE. They are JUST making a network, that is ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING THEY ARE DOING. They are just being SCAPEGOATED for something that was ALREADY GOING ON for YEARS before their channel EVEN EXISTED. This has been happening since Youtube was FIRST CREATED. How is this SO hard to wrap your mind around? PROBLEM THERE BEFORE PEOPLE SAY THING, SO PEOPLE SAY THING NOT CAUSE OF PROBLEM. Is THAT easier for you? Is THAT an adequate explanation? Or am I COMPLETELY WASTING MY FUCKING TIME trying to explain this EXTREMELY SIMPLE CONCEPT to you? Of course I am. You have bought so deeply into this narrative that, remember, has NO SUPPORT FROM THE FACTS, that reason and logic are completely lost on you and you've convinced yourself either that this issue that is almost eleven years old is somehow brand new or otherwise come to the conclusion that Finebros can send copyright strikes BACKWORDS IN TIME. And either way, you're really starting to PISS ME OFF. Well, now you're just being rude. I posted that comment before you edited it. At least on my screen, all I saw was that one sentence. If you're only going to accept what benefits you, you can piss off yourself. Copyrighting the word "REACT" is taking the word REACT and saying "Oops, you can't use that! Sorry!". What, are people going to say "Examination and Inspection" for their videos? If the word is copyrighted, they can (and, reportedly, have) threaten their lawyers against you for using it. The issue you fail to grasp is that the *RECENT* reports that are exclusive to the Fine Bros themselves aren't simply "You made a react video, it got a copyright strike by a channel with 1000 subscribers". There are people straight up giving examples of the Fine Bros using their lawyers to threaten others when "abusing" their namesake. It's ridiculous. Anyways, you're clearly not going to accept any other opinions and you are incredibly biased on such a topic. The "Let's just not yell about the the react trademark" reddit post is all the evidence you need, both the OP and the comments within the thread. EDIT: Also, I posted the comment at 6:24, you edited at 6:47. If you care about any kind of impression of yourself, you'd at least apologize for such an insulting accusation. Who would lie about such a small thing? EDIT2: Anyways, more on-topic, the whole ordeal is ridiculous. Regardless of their intentions, trying to copyright words such as "react", similar to the supposed sony fiasco of "Let's Play", is a ridiculous idea. The way they've dealt with it (for example the update video) just paints them with a stuck-up and entitled vibe. Perhaps they thought they were truly doing a good thing (Which would be odd, considering what they were actually doing and affecting) but the update video has no sincerity to it and you can see it in their faces. That being said, the update video was removed so you'll have to see other videos with the specific clips (like with the emotionless face of the guy wearing the glasses).
  6. Well, if you refuse to consider the other sides of the situation, I suppose this link is relatively useless to you : You people are OBJECTIVELY WRONG. I already explained HOW you are OBJECTIVELY WRONG, and you pick the one sentence at the beginning and act like that's all I had to say on the matter. (Thanks for proving that statement right, by the way.) YOU are the one not considering the "other side". Again, this entire thing is COMPLETE BULLSHIT. It is MADE UP. The Finebros are just being scapegoated for copyright claims that were ALREADY HAPPENING, and have been for YEARS, by twisting something they said until it snapped, gluing it back together in a different order and twisting some more. Whiny little bitches like Jinx are complaining about getting copyright strikes when they ARE violating the copyrights of the original creators they're "reacting" to and freebooting off of their videos, and they're blaming whoever it's convenient to blame because they can't blame the actual, original creators they are stealing from. I saw this movie a couple months ago, only then it was Jacksfilms being blamed for all the copyright strikes. As long as "reaction" videos are on the internet, they will be hit by copyright claims, because they ARE violating copyright, they ARE thieves, they ARE freebooters, and they DO deserve it. The only reason Finebros doesn't get hit with claims as often is because they ask permission first, and even then they DO get hit with copyright claims on a regular basis. They are NOT responsible for the copyright strikes happening right now anymore than Jacksfilms is responsible for the copyright strikes that were happening a few months ago, or the next scapegoat will be responsible for them in another few months. Incorrect. When I replied to your comment, that was the only sentence there. Besides, the issue is what the Finebros are doing as a whole (as there are a ton of "reaction videos" that aren't just "Ooh, watch me watch this video!" and actually contribute to the topic of the video). People like pyrocynical and the newly popular Leafyishere are good examples. They at least talk about the video and make jokes and side-notes/side-stories alongside a minority of their videos being the video they are reacting to, at the very most small clips from the videos being shown. They also show their own footage (e.g. CSGO surfing, footage of CSGO matches, CoD footage, etc.). "Reaction videos" is a very broad genre in any case. EDIT: I also fail to see the objectivity of your post. Saying a genre is "the scum of the Earth" isn't objective, it's subjective. The same goes for calling the whole situation fake, which it is quite clear that it isn't. The Ellen "fiasco"(implying it didn't even blow up that much) was a real thing, as well as their TV show being a thing as well. There's a lot of people backing how illegitimate they have been in the past, as well.
  7. Well, if you refuse to consider the other sides of the situation, I suppose this link is relatively useless to you :
  8. I think you missed the important part when the various YouTube videos with a word "react" in their titles started being taken down with a sudden copyright claim out of nowhere... Besides, their explanation is very vague and... honestly, look at their faces and tell me you believe them... My personal impression is that they look tired, but also, their eyes are mostly empty, no passion and the guy wearing glasses looks like he has something mean on his mind. Not a sincere smile from any of them. And now think about PewDiePie or Smosh. You may not like them, but they are pretty much honest people, even if you hate them Pretty much this. It's just them trying to save face. They're currently being sucked down the toilet and they're trying to save what little they can right now.
  9. Yeah... It's a total joke. I can't believe they think they can get away with it. I just found out recently that they're actually pretty terrible people overall, like with the whole Ellen ordeal with her showing kids old typewriters. I saw the screenshot of their facebook/twitter posts of them basically saying "Oh, you didn't include us? Wow, you stole our stuff!" I just don't get it. EDIT: I also saw the reddit post that explained how they are going to lose their show that's on TruTV and that they are trying to save face by deleting a bunch of comments and the like ( or were, apparently that's over ) to keep subscribers and all that.
  10. I never understood the whole "xenophobia" thing. Despite this being an easily arguable statement, it's kind of, y'know, true : We are of *the same race*. We are *all* human beings. The arguable part of that is basically culture, genetic variety and generally social differences between two countries that gets hated. That being said, there's no reason to think "Ew, those dirty frenchmen. They're so disgusting. It's like they're from another planet!" You kind of, y'know, have the same physiology so... What are you disgusted by? Do frenchmen have dirty habits? Are you afraid of their culture? Their religion? Their government? I don't get it. Unless they have directly harmed you somehow, there's no real reason to have a phobia of someone from another country. The whole "west vs. east" thing is ridiculous, too. Not to mention that it's usually a bullshit excuse when somebody says "I hate Germany!" instead of "I hate X person from Germany!" and gets called out for it. Then there's the people that argue that xenophobia is to be taken metaphorical and not literally(which is kind of how it's supposed to be used because, well, it has a definition). Anyways, not going to take a side. Xenophobia is everywhere.
  11. So, this is interesting. The issue with me doing this type of stuff is that I'm not personally huge on it nor' do I have comprehensible thoughts. My thoughts contradict each other quite frequently, especially with philosophical questions and the like. One correct thing is that I consider myself to be a pretty peaceful person but who knows if that's my true self. Maybe I'm just ignorant of the world or something.
  12. Wine gums are good if you've got an appetite for nibbling figurative heads off. It's like a stress ball for your mouth! Well, I'm trying to run through my Watch Later list on Youtube but lately I've been doing it up until 1AM, so that's not good.
  13. Anyone else ever had that feeling where you feel calm and peaceful and yet you know there's no cause for it? Like hanging out with some friends for a few hours and coming home with a feeling like it was a really great night even though it was mediocre. That's how I woke up today.
  14. You know somebody is going to have a Stan Lee avatar.
  15. Ohohoho, definitely. People always look at the result, not the cause. What's that? I *can* play Crysis at some point in my life without feeling like I'm playing it on a potato 1.0? Alright, let me just buy it - Oh, wait, now I need to spend a ton of money getting a computer that can actually run this game with higher spec requirements than your average game of that time. Oops. Even putting a device at anything over the cost of a console is being too obvious and simply ridiculous.
  16. So... Related to Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 I guess? I'm playing through Baldur's Gate 2 right now and I can't imagine a game like BG 1 & 2 evolving into a hack and slash, especially with the new Baldur's Gate expansion(Siege of Dragonspear) that's coming out soon. Still, it looks competent.
  17. What would Fallout in Antarctica be like? I'd guess kind of a "winter survival" theme. Wolves don't live in Antarctica(I think) so you'd probably get a mix of super behemoth polar bears and penguin-people.
  18. Well, I hate to restrict tropes and styles of animation(mostly tropes but in this case, style of the animation) but I recall Teen Titans indeed had the whole anime-esque-face-style, like with the smiley emoticon. It's still more of a western cartoon than an anime, as far as "anime" goes in definition. At the same time, I still wonder if The Last Airbender is an anime. I'm pretty sure that's a western cartoon but it varies from what your average western cartoon animation style is.
  19. Samurai Jack is definitely a western cartoon (especially since it was featured prominently on cartoon network and IIRC Nickelodeon) but Pokemon is anime. Wasn't Pokemon originally a Japanese show but it was dubbed over to American?
  20. Well, I'm currently watching a pyrocynical video and watching extremely weird and disturbing videos.
  21. Wow, really? It's an anime? I'm being completely serious here. I thought, despite me seeing something similar to the video thumbnails before, that RWBY was a pokemon game or spin-off or something like that. As in Pokemon Red White Black Yellow. I guess I could watch it, assuming it grabs my interest as a legitimate show and not for other reasons, which I won't delve into. Also, I suppose "technically' it should be in the anime thread but are saying anime as in the animation style or of Japanese origin(a Japanese cartoon, ported over to the west e.g.)? EDIT: Okay, well, black not blue. I thought it was blue.
  22. It's mostly because he died young compared to the life expectancy of today. 69, was it? If he had died of old age, that would've been better but I suppose not everyone has that privilege. Cancer seems to just be getting worse and worse.
  23. FullMetal Alchemist is the only anime I've ever been interested in actually watching. I remember flipping through TV channels when I was younger and I saw a glimpse of it. The impression I got is that it has a Western-ish feel to it. I watched like 10 minutes of it, so I can't really talk at all but the idea of having a giant robot-like guy as your robo-bro seems pretty cool. That, and it's pretty action packed, right?
  24. They should've have a mix of KOTOR & Battlefront 2. Now THAT would be a fun game. Battlefront 3 looked pretty good aesthetically, too.
  25. Male. Honestly, the male-to-female ratio is pretty interesting. Not that it isn't expected to a certain degree but I expected more females(to participate, I suppose I should add).
