Guardians of the Galaxy is the only movie from Marvel Studios I can say I legitimately enjoyed. All their other films up until Guardians of the Galaxy then have been safe, boring, dull, crap. Guardians of the Galaxy didn't feel like it was designed by committee unlike all of Marvel Studios's other movies. I swear to god, if Marvel screws up Guardians of the Galaxy 2 I'm gonna be pissed.

Alright, do you have any suggestions for low profile aftermarket air coolers that are easy to install? I don't care about fan noise and I want be able to access all of my pci and RAM slots after I've installed it. While my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO does it's job when it comes to cooling it's blocking 2 of my pci slots on my ATX motherboard. The Noctua NH-L9a looks like it meets my requirements. It's pretty pricey though.

Alright you guys are welcome to continue your off topic discussion elsewhere via PMs or something else while I do what I do best to get this thread back on topic. Gripe and complain incessantly about minute and unimportant details. * failure/success rolls All failure/success rolls serve to do is prolong gameplay for a couple seconds until the player succeeds. They aren't engaging on any level and just kind of there for the sake of being there. I hated them back when I played tabletop D&D and I hate them now. At one point when it was my turn to DM I came up with the idea of omitting attack rolls entirely and just went straight for calculating damage rolls. Everyone agreed that the game was much better without them and thus omitting attack rolls became a house rule for all the other players who DMmed. What does that tell you about failure/success rolls in general? They're dumb, useless and do not serve any immersive purposes like they were perceived to be. Failure/Success Rolls for all intents and purposes are archaic, annoying bullshit. * limited inventory space Look, just let me carry as much stuff as I want. I don't care how realistic it is. Newsflash, realism isn't very fun and in most cases it's just straight up annoying as hell. The only time limited inventory Space was interesting and made sense was in Deus Ex GOTY. In Deus Ex GOTY you had to constantly think about what your approach to the game was and that design philosophy extended all the way to inventory. Well guess what, you don't do that when all your carrying is 20 radscorpion tails that you're going to haul all the way back to town in order to sell them like you do in most RPGs. Every item in Deus Ex GOTY had reason to be carried, Beaver tails do not. * the fucking car from Fallout 2 So technically this falls under limited inventory space but I feel the car from Fallout 2 deserves a special mention as it occupies a very specific circle of game design hell. So let me get this straight, you want limited inventory space and be able to carry everything you come across? Why not just let the player carry everything they want from the get go like I mentioned previously instead of doing mental gymnastic game design? Why are you trying to do two completely opposite styles of inventory design at once? They implicitly work against each other through design. What was done with the Fallout 2 car was just utterly illogical design.

That's pretty nifty Jeb, just remember save early save often when it comes to LMMS. It likes to crash when you least expect it to.

Are we really having one of those "How friends should treat friends" arguments? Why does it matter? Are people only allowed to communicate in a friendly manner and if they don't they obviously hate each other's guts? I was kind of hoping that this thread died since it largely consists anal retentive posts from me and practically everyone agreed that this was an awful thread.

The Gap Between Modern and Classic Titles
Heliocentrical replied to Heliocentrical's topic in Gaming in general
IMO for PC games a game that's 10 years or older is an enjoyable classic, 15-20 year old games are playable but they tend to fade into the background for me and I find most 20-25 year old games to be unplayable. Now when it comes to console games my enjoyment threshold extends all the way to 25 year old games since I liked a lot of NES games but not any Atari 2600 games. I think this is due to consoles focusing on what made games playable first before PC. PC games would eventually reach enjoyable playability but not for another 10 years after consoles did. I also think this had something to do with PCs being viewed as business-oriented machines at the time. BTW don't credit this as any historic fact as I merely trying make sense as to why I don't like 20 year old PC games and why I don't like console games that are older than 25 years. I'm not a historian. -
This has been an idea that has been stirring around in my head for a while. As a gamer do you enjoy both modern and classic titles or were you unable to bridge the gap and favor one area over the other? I definitely fall into the latter category. I've always preferred the mechanical experimentation of older games like Deus Ex GOTY and Morrowind over games that have had to sacrifice variety for polish. For instance Deus Ex: Human Revolution was my first entry into the Deus Ex series but after playing Deus Ex GOTY I can definitely say I prefer Deus Ex GOTY over Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Still a heliogender whatever that means, I have never felt so liberated by a meaningless word that doesn't make sense and doesn't exist before.

A hipster Deathclaw, a Deathclaw with the most exquisitely smug facial hair imaginable that wears hipster clothing, shades while riding a penny farthing bicycle. I like this question so I'll repeat it. What kind of monstrous creature do you imagine yourself as?

Games Not Being Difficult Anymore
Heliocentrical replied to Heliocentrical's topic in Gaming in general
I'm very much aware of the fact that I'm just a guy on the internet saying he's beaten x amount of games with no proof to show for it. I'm not touting the games I've beaten as achievements here as I fear I may have given you that impression from my OP. I don't consider much of anything to be worth touting over. If anything I become slightly depressed when I beat a game because then it's no longer a new experience for me. From that point onward I just play it for the sake of system mastery and that's it. I haven't played anything that feels new, foreign or alien to me in a long time because I've grown so accustomed to a point where most of the games I've played are practically second nature to me. Again I want to emphasize that I'm bored as hell and not proud of what I've done here. I am not some self proclaimed "champion" who finds the games he's beaten as anything noteworthy. I'm someone who's bored out of his mind and doesn't know how to fix his boredom. These aren't victories they're problems I keep encountering over and over again. Anyway I hope that makes some sense. -
*Puffs cheeks* "Look at my chipmunk impression" *Squeeze Cheeks* "Pretty spot on right?" I think I've officially ran out material to work with in regards to Psychotic's Avatar. Some were real stretches too like the fingerless glove one.

Do you need to buy any source assets in order to play ZPS? If that's the case that might be an issue.

Have you considered using the PlayerPrefsX script by Eric Haines? It adds a ton of functionality to PlayerPrefs and it's what I using currently using to save my values. I highly recommend you take a look at it. http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/ArrayPrefs2 Oh my god, why? Importing XML libraries into Unity was a pain but it wasn't that bad.

Bitching about people bitching about a 30 FPS lock isn't productive. Other people have said exact the same thing so all you're doing is adding to a circlejerk. Well thought and rational conversations don't come from a two sided "I'm right, you're wrong" debate.
-
I don't think I've ever had that happen before. Even though I try to follow the KISS principle I often overthink a script if I'm writing it from scratch. When I was just learning how to use Unity I didn't know that PlayerPrefs existed so I ended up importing all these different libraries so I could save data to XML. It worked but it was a mess and I felt stupid after I learned about PlayerPrefs. I went through all that trouble for nothing. My thought processes largely goes like this. I visualize the script I want to write. Then I write down everything I think I need which usually results in the script being overdone. Lastly a couple weeks later I figure out a way to make it more simple and basically rewrite the whole damn thing again. OT: Learning how to draw 2D pixel animations.

Um, Ross the video in your post isn't the October 2016 Planetside 2 play session video it's the Contraption Zack Game Dungeon video again. I'm looking at the video in your post right now and it's totally the Contraption Zack Game Dungeon video.

@Alyxx Thorne I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was talking about this thread as whole. It had potential for a good conversation and that opportunity was ruined. It pisses me off when things like that happen. That I can see the potential and tried to nudge it in that direction with good intent. But no one else did and the result is the same conversation that's been had hundreds of thousands times over which goes nowhere. Apparently there can be no other conversations outsides of who's right, who's wrong and it's pathetic.
-
There was a legitimately rational discussion we could've had regarding FPS but instead this thread has devolved into a pissing competition. Complaining about the complainers gets us nowhere and quite frankly I'm disgusted with you all for how this thread has turned out while I was legitimately trying to add to the conversation. We could've talked about how a game feels, how reliant games become on higher FPS as they incorporate more realtime elements into their gameplay, how an FPS lock might affect certain genres and other genres not so much. But no, you guys didn't do that now did you? You all collectively decided it would be much more fun to have a screaming competition with each other about who's right and who's wrong like the rest of internet. Fucking goddammit people, what is wrong with you?

Yeah, since when has Anime been good? Isn't it kind of the point to enjoy just how shitty it is? Garbage can still be enjoyable garbage.
