  1. Congrats on getting your account back. It seems like we differ in level quite a bit considering I have 3 level 30s and you have a level 69 and a level 16. I do have a level 12 elementalist. What would you rather do get your level 16 to level 30 and join my mains or shall I get my level 12 to level 16? We could also create all new characters. What would you like to do? Which server do you play on?
  2. I have the same problem. I would refer to professions as classes, crafting as skills and skills as powers. I wonder why GW2 names them this way. They do refer to the exact same things. I guess GW2 wanted to rebel against tradition . It becomes quite a pain when I have to google these things since I always google them as the other thing I refer to them as and not what they're actually called. BTW what level are your characters? Mine are all around level 30. I've been trying to keep both their levels and crafting at the same pace which is quite difficult since you can easily exceed your crafting's level. I really wish GW2 didn't had a crafting system and just gave you the best gear from boss drops or something else. Crafting is quite draconian, really grindy and very boring for me.
  3. I never played GW1. I started with GW2 since I wasn't a fan of the subscription based model. I missed out on a lot of the forefathers of MMOs because of this. I thought GW2's business model was pretty fair. Pay what you want and own it forever. I'm glad the subscription based model died off because that means I get to play awesome games for free. I'm currently playing 3 MMOs right now. GW2, Warframe and Skyforge. Once Ross finalizes when the PlanetSide 2 meetup is happening I'll get a PlanetSide 2 account and then I'll be bumped up to 4 MMOs.
  4. I hope you get your account back. My favorite race is Charr as well . They're giant cats with horns and warmachines. How could they not be my favorite race? I made all of my characters Charr. I think the Charr overshadow a lot of the other races. But I'm totally fine with that due to how awesome the Charr are. Out of all the races you can pick human, taller human, a half human/ half plant, a short imp with floppy ears or a GIANT CAT WITH HORNS. As for Professions it's a three way tie between Engineer, Necromancer and Thief for me. Out of all of the professions to that I could play those three professions are the ones that I had the most fun with. I still haven't gotten the Heart of Thorns expansion pack so I don't know how the Revenant plays. But judging by couple of Revenant gameplay videos I've watched I will probably like the playing the Revenant too once I get the expansion pack.
  5. Who exactly is in charge of the PlanetSide 2 meetup? Is Ross doing it all by himself? I really want to send my ideas to whoever is in charge of the meetup and see if my ideas are any good or not.
  6. @danielsangeo and @Jeb_CC how long can you play using your VR headset and how eye-straining is it to look at? Have you guys experienced any visual adverse side effects after using your VR headset such as headaches, dry eyes or blurriness? I'm aware that VR headsets can cause motion sickness but I haven't heard of any adverse visual side effects such as what I've described.
  7. Sorry, I didn't mean to drag you in like that if that wasn't your intention. VNN's content didn't fit my definition of what clickbait is. So I made fun of people who I felt were attacking VNN for no reason. I figured that's what you were doing as well. That my fault for assuming that my intention was the same as yours. Anyway back to VR. One Aspect of VR that concerns me are the health risks. Those of us who stare at a monitor most of our day aren't exactly known for the best eyesight so what more damage will VR cause? that's basically putting two monitors directly in front your eyes unable to see anything outside of those two monitors. For me trying out a VR headset isn't worth potentially damaging my eyes even more than they already are. Motion sickness would probably be more prevalent and may even appear in individuals who don't get motion sickness. I am slightly prone to motion sickness but nothing too sever. I can see a VR headset exacerbating motion sickness in individuals who are slightly prone to motion sickness and making it unplayable for people who get motion sickness bad. Also Ross comparing NIN to Coldplay was pretty good. I would argue that NIN is slightly better but not by much. Coldplay have both obnoxious music and pretentiousness where as NINs got a few good songs but for the most part is entirely pretentious. That reminds me of this mashup I found called Call Me A Hole by a guy called Pomdeter. 5Lm1FL7gWl4 The mashup uses NIN's song Head Like a Hole but replaces Head Like a Hole's melody with the melody of Carly Rae Jepsens's song Call Me Maybe. It is as hilarious as it is sacrilegious. Though if we're seriously talking about music Korn's where it's at. CSJXle3LP_Q
  8. Are there any plans for creating a poll to determine who has/hasn't played Planetside 2 before the meetup? I also think a second poll after the first poll for which empire to choose would be a good idea too. I think that these polls would help represent Ross's Audience better than assuming all of them have never played the PlanetSide 2 before. I also think we would gain a considerable edge if we could include as many already made characters with hundreds of hours worth of unlocks as possible as opposed to creating all new characters with no unlocks. If we're to do some serious damage on Planetside 2 I think these ideas are worth considering. Ross could use something like Straw Poll http://strawpoll.me/ so people don't have to register to vote. I want to give our legion as many advantages as possible so that we may conquer PlanetSide 2 in it's entirety. We will leave nothing but devastation in our wake. We shall serve Auraxis on a silver platter for our Emperor Ross Scott to feast upon. We will drink the blood of our enemies, use their souls to fuel our warmachines and leave their bodies for the vultures in the sky. This to you I swear upon my life my emperor. May our scarecrows be set aflame in the name of our emperor and may our bovine hold ungodly powers. All hail our Emperor Ross Scott and his farm upon the accursed plane!!!!!!!
  9. @Akinaro I would remind you that this is a civil forum and not 4chan. So you need to obey the rules or leave. Also if you provided some evidence of VNN being clickbaity maybe me and Binky wouldn't have made fun of you. Honestly if you can't present your opinion well enough for it not to come across as insulting then don't bother. Your opinion only matters to you anyway.
  10. my bad, it's hard to detect understand someone's intent over the internet. Anyway this ought to be fun. Top 10 reasons I did not like what this forum poster had to say You won't believe what this forum poster said Learn this one simple trick to annoy people on the internet
  11. Could you please be specific? I'm not sure what you're referring to.
  12. An annoying clickbaiting twat with a patreon account. ValveTime.net is superior in every way. Too bad they don't release video updates with the regularity they once used to. Ok, seriously what is with all the hate for Tyler? Non of his content in particular strikes me as being clickbaity and I've seen some downright horrendous clickbait.
  13. Well clearly that recognition didn't get very far if the result was the feral, unorganized mob that Gamergate is today.
  14. I still think that aspect of Gamergate is trivial. I'm much more interested in helping ethics in games journalism than I am listening to what appears to me as hysteric, pseudo-intellectual and paranoid MRA propaganda. I'm not shaming you for what you believe. If that's what you believe that's fine. I'm just giving you my perspective on that side of Gamergate. @Jcw87 yeah that legal loophole does sound pretty egregious and would best if it was dealt with. Outside of that I still can't say I care about Eron Gjoni as a person though.
  15. Does your email automaticly delete spam from blacklisted addresses? Someone mentioned here that this can happen to GW2 authentication mail. . I would keep in mind that it is from two years ago. But it seems similar to what you're describing. I've also heard that updating your account to use authentication might fix this issue too. https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95446157-Securing-Your-Account-With-Authentication . Though I'm not entirely sure on that method. I would try the first method I mentioned first.
  16. Could please you provide a link with the information that isn't from KotakuInAction? Or could you post the information here in this thread in a spoiler box if it's too large so everyone else can view it besides me? I'd appreciate it as I refuse to touch KotakuInAction with a 10ft pole.
  17. Well is there something wrong with that? Or he has to have only one motive alone? Considering, that GG as a hashtag started what about 4 months or so after the Zoe post, which sounded to me more of a "off my chest" kind of thing than story about breach of journalistic ethics. It's just what people latched onto more than a story about man being abused by his at the time girlfriend or ex ( I can't remember that part correctly). Probably ethics in games journalism isn't really a priority to a person, who's hurt by another person. I'd be willing to bet that his main motive is winning his current legal battle against her for the gag order he got back in 2014 (by his own words). It's quite a fascinating read of his legal battles, though then again, it's only his own words and I don't know, whether it can be verified as real or he's just milking GG for money. If you're interested in reading more on his side of the story, but don't want to go to kotakuinaction, I can send you a copy paste to your inbox on forums. It's more of a problem I have Gamergate than with Eron Gjoni. I don't care if Eron Gjoni was abused by Zoe Quinn or not. It's none of my business. IMO Gamergate should've been entirely about ethics with no exceptions. Stuff like the Zoe Post is what muddled the waters for Gamergate. It's pretty clear that Gamergate wasn't looking for journalistic corruption in the Zoe Post. In this scenario they used "We're for ethics in games journalism only" as a cover for their sympathies with Eron Gjoni. That would have been atleast fine if they said that from the start albeit small and pointless. No, instead they chose to blur together this shred of corruption within the Zoe Post along with their sympathies with Eron Gjoni to give their cause credibility. That to me is unacceptable. Gamergate should've been for ethics first and foremost without any compromises like this. Things can only go downhill from here and they in fact did. Go ahead and call me out for being the cruel and cold-hearted bastard that I am. for I do not care for one man's insignificant tragedy. At the end of the day Eron Gjoni's relationship with Zoe Quinn is nothing more than a statistic amongst millions of other similar cases. What makes Eron Gjoni's case any different and special? If ethics in games journalism is to succeed it needs opinions similar to my own. Clear cut and dry with no compromise.
  18. Sorry that's my fault. I often latch on to words that sound appropriate at the time in my head but in actuality aren't. This is slightly off topic but is there a more appropriate word for posting information that should be private? I'm thinking there ought to be. Anyway back to the topic at hand. I'd still say some of the Zoe Post was really unnecessary. Eron Gjoni could've cleaned up what he wrote before posting it citing only the link between Zoe Quinn and Nathan Greyson. But he didn't so clearly his motives lie elsewhere outside of ethics in games journalism.
  19. Yeah, one thing that's always rubbed me the wrong way with GamerGate was how it started. Sure Gamergate was able to out Nathan Greyson for not disclosing his relationship with Zoe Quinn. But that information came from her disgruntled ex-boyfriend who completely doxxed her. That source was dirty as hell. If GamerGate had any integrity they would've condemned Eron Gjoni for his dox of Zoe Quinn and trying to cover it as "Revealing Corruption". They could have easily found corruption elsewhere via clean source that doesn't dox people. But no, they didn't do anything. Out of the two sins present here I can safely say that Zoe Quinn's Dox was way more egregious than Nathan Greyson's corruption.
  20. But it would weaken Anti-GG's narrative as a whole. From the outside it would look like Anti-GG yelling at a brick wall and They're making stuff up about the brick wall with which they are yelling at. People from the outside probably wouldn't be as inclined to support Anti-GG because they would appear to be shouting into the void and receiving nothing for it. Anti-GG would then slowly disintegrate overtime.
  21. So that would mean Gamergate would be much smaller. As you need people to start it in the first place. Some people already consider Gamergate to guilty and/or stupid so how would not responding make things worse? I still think not giving Anti-Gamergate their narrative would have been a huge advantage for Gamergate.
  22. How is that a downside? It makes you look like aren't receptive and there for your opposition isn't given anything to work off of. If Gamergate just refused to speak to Anti-Gamergate they would have been condemned all the same. But one key point is that it would've weakened Anti-Gamergate's narrative against Gamergate.
  23. That's exactly my point, trying to monitor everything that goes on in a twitter hashtag is impossible. It was inevitable that you would have people that were associated with the Gamergate hashtag(Whether genuine or not) that were involved in some form of harassment. I will say that this issue is not specific to the Gamergate hashtag. It's endemic to all hashtags and was specifically highlighted by Anti-Gamergate to assist them in their narrative against Gamergate. But it wouldn't have been as easy for Anti-Gamergate to declare Gamergate as nothing but harassment if Gamergate was a specific well-defined group. If Gamergate was a specific group instead of a Twitter hashtag with strict membership requirements then it would be a lot less prone to harassment happening within Gamergate and as result have a lot more integrity at it's core. As it stands Gamergate is too open with who can use/be apart of it and so it's prone to harassment happening within itself and serves Anti-Gamergate in it's narrative. I don't trust Gamergate because of this I stated everything I thought the new group would need to do to become stronger and wiser than it's predecessor Gamergate. Not just a simple name change. I completely disagree. There is no better defense than sheer confidence in your cause and nothing else. It makes you untouchable no matter how damned your cause is by the media and by the public at large. Now if you don't have complete confidence in your cause then you've already lost. Using pure explanation as your defense will only make your opposition even more aggressive. By responding to your opposition it shows them that you can be poked and prodded. It shows them that they have leverage over you and it shows them that you are in fact vulnerable to their attacks because you are responding to them.
  24. My apologies to you both, I was a little too quick to judge what was going on.
  25. @Jcw87 and @ThePest179 wow, just wow. You guys have taken a whole new level of talking past someone who is neutral in all regards of this topic. I am completely disgusted with how you guys are slighting my arguments. The only things you guys will respond to is direct insults and not criticism because you can't handle addressing my points of criticism. So you just sweep them under the rug to appease your conscious. That is just sad beyond word from both of you.
