  1. @Seattleite I've watched all the videos and now my main question is do we the citizens have any power to ensure that better voting systems like MMP and STV get implemented? I knew that there were much better voting systems then First Past the Post(I'm pretty sure I've seen those particular CGPGrey videos before). My actual doubt comes from whether or not we can spread these ideas effectively, they reach someone with enough political power to implement them and that this person gives a damn about US citizens' happiness with the voting system. I'm convinced there isn't any hope for this because if there was this would have been dealt with years ago.
  2. If I'm not mistaken the spoiler effect is when an independent party is created and takes away some of the votes from one of the two parties. For instance let's say the election is currently 65% for the Democrats and 45% for the Republicans. Then lets add a third party which takes away 35% of the votes for the Democrats and leaves them with only 30% of their votes left thus the Republicans end up winning the election. Is that correct or am I confusing the Spoiler effect with another term? Good point, if a third party was created the moderate Democrats/Republicans would either join the third party or fold into the rest of the extreme left/right. Leaving us with the extreme right, center and extreme left. That might actually be a lot more chaotic then I initially thought. Though I would tend to say that currently both parties are 75% extremists and 25% moderate. While more moderate Democrats/Republicans would be much better then nothing they're practically nonexistent today. I haven't found any prominent Democrats/Republicans who were also moderates.
  3. Onto a different topic would anyone else like to see a third party for the US? I sure would, though personally I doubt that will ever happen. A central/neutral party would perfect for keeping both the Democrats and Republicans from going off into the extreme as is currently the case. The two party system has practically no nuance to it. The closest we've got to a central/neutral opinion are people from both parties who claim to be moderate Democrats and Republicans. If you're a moderate Democrat/Republican you're still leaning to one side. Or how about this could we stop trying to label nuanced opinions as either Democrat or Republican and accept them purely as opinions? All this does is fuel the existence of the flawed two party system and allows these mindsets to subsist off of attacking each other. That's all this labeling has ever done and it ultimately accomplishes nothing. That's The "us vs them" mentality in a nutshell and it's egregious for how well it serves as a road block for nuanced opinions and conversations. At this point I'd much rather say that everyone is my enemy so that my opinion can stay objective. Because that's what allies do. They catch you when you inevitably fall on your ass. The way specific opinions of important issues are casually lumped together don't make sense either. For instance how can Democrats be in favor of Gun Control in order to "save lives" if they're also in favor of abortion? Which one is it "Saving Lives" or Women's Rights? It can't be both since the idea of "Saving Lives" is conflict with abortion and just be sighting that example alone people can slag me off a Republican despite whether or not that's my actual opinion because I only sited it as an example? Democrats will use this example as a means to boil down my opinion while Republicans will arbitrarily accept me as a "brother in arms" regardless of whether I want to be considered one or not. Do you see how frustrating and stupid this bullshit can get?
  4. I agree that inequality would be pretty rampant. That's the thing with trying to come up with new systems of government is it's very easy to accidentally trample human rights. I wasn't intending to be malicious but you can clearly see that it was. I still think these systems are fun to imagine how they might work kinda like alternate history. As long as I'm not actually making someone else's life miserable then no real harm done.
  5. Do Trump supporters provide a solid argument for being against democracy? I'm speaking in general but I'm using Trump supporters as an example. It seems like individuals who actually care about important issues are effectively being overruled by idiots. Maybe we should have some sort of an I.Q test requirement for voting rights. If you don't have the minimum x intelligence then you can't vote. Sounds like a pretty solid plan to me. Idiots should basically be second class citizens.
  6. So basically the US DRM circumvention laws are going to stay the same. The TPP isn't making DRM circumvention more or less draconian. US laws about DRM circumvention laws are just expanding to other countries involved with the TPP. Is that correct? If the US is just making a statement as to what their laws about DRM circumvention are then we really aren't any worse then we left off.
  7. Hehe, morse already posted this just at the previous page But it's ok. Nice to read about it again, especially that I just had the first (and maybe last) conversation with this bot on Wednesday/Thursday . I heard rumors that users of 8chan taught this bot such ugly speech and phrases Strange that Microsoft didn't predict that... oh wait... they don't know how humans work... Yep that's Microsoft for ya.
  8. What is wrong with the thumbnail of the Robot Jobs video? Ross is pink and Mike Rowe is yellow. Ross looks slightly blurred as well.
  9. This is slightly off topic but I thought most of the uproar against the TPP was due to the statements it made in regards to such things as copyright and DRM circumvention. I really can't say about much about the majority of the TPP. But I certainly wouldn't be in favor for enforcing punishment against people who circumvent DRM. I'm kinda surprised that Ross didn't already bring up that section of TPP as it ties in directly to killing games. Speaking of which I'm gonna start drafting some unofficial articles for the movement against killing games. Once the list is done Anyone's welcome to follow/not follow them as they see fit. I'm not hijacking the entire movement but the overall lack of a foundation has been really bugging me. If Ross doesn't have the time to establish some groundwork then I understand. He's got a ton on his shoulders as is with Game Dungeon, Ross Rants, The Movie and being a spokesman for the movement. I'm more then willing to do this of my own accord. Again I cannot stress enough that these will unofficial articles and no one is obligated to follow them. I'm doing this for myself because I want a guideline to follow and if you want a guideline to follow too then cool.
  10. It could increase the need for security experts and penetration testers. Is there a statistic for just how many white collar jobs that would be actually lost due to robots as opposed to the increased demand for technicians and maintainers? It seems like this will be a shift in the jobs market rather then a direct loss of jobs like Ross is making it out to be. I don't have any sources to back me up on this but my point still stands. I think it's important to take all factors into consideration when it comes to calculating a statistical loss like this. If anyone has any sources for/against my claims then I'd like to see them as I have no basis for my theories to work off of.
  11. Here's my theory of what might happen over the course of several years. Keep in mind I do not claim to be an expert any regard this pure speculation. I think the need for people with more technical proficient backgrounds such as programming will increase dramatically. Businesses will be replacing white collar workers with robots and those robots will need to be maintained and have their instruction sets improved upon. So companies will be paying for maintenance and upgrades instead of paying actual workers. We might not have white collar workers anymore and those people will need to be retrained. I agree with Ross that blue collar jobs will still be around. In fact I think we should be paying much closer attention to our infrastructure then we're currently giving it. How many dams, bridges and sewer systems globally are now potentially hazardous due to lack of maintenance?
  12. Now son don't touch that cactus.
  13. Does anyone here overclock? If so why? Does the performance really matter for the tasks you're doing? Are you at concerned of your PC's overall lifespan? Also does the extra $20 justify buying an FX 8350 CPU for higher performance over buying an FX 8320 CPU? I've heard that the extra performance doesn't hurt to have. But does it matter? I'm asking out of curiosity. I have an FX 8320 CPU and this has always bugged me. The FX 8350 CPU just doesn't sound very cost effective for what you get out of it over an FX 8320 CPU.
  14. It would be nice if I could notice the options menu right front of me. Sorry I was being an idiot. Yeah you can go offline. But how do you get rid of the prompt that asks you whether you want to go back online or not? There doesn't seem to be a never show up again checkbox for to untick. I'm guessing it might be a little more complicated then that. Like I might have to edit a config file or something. Edit: Found what I was looking for. http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/102867/remove-steam-is-currently-set-to-be-in-offline-mode-dialog. According to the first answer You need to set SkipOfflineModeWarning to 1 in the loginusers.vdf located at Steam/config. I've tried this and it seems to be working.
  15. As of late the steam client has been really getting on my nerves. First why can't Steam just let me download my games from my browser like GOG does? Going through the Steam Store on the Steam client is awful. Also I don't care about what game my friend is currently playing or what pointless achievements this game has. Why are you trying to be a social platform for me in gaming, an area which I don't care to be social in? I just want to play my games. Nothing more, nothing less. As if those sorts of things actually mean something useful ingame. Oh, well I get distracting popup that has gotten me killed on numerous accounts instead. Golly gee, thanks for this useful feature Valve. Why don't you download stuff in the background without my knowledge while you're at it too. It's not like I would care to be informed about this sorta thing beforehand. If anyone has any tips for dealing with the Steam Client I'd like to hear them. I'm pro GOG these days and haven't bought a Steam game in years. Yet I don't want to fully abandon the Steam games that I already have.
  16. The soundtrack to LISA(I think that's the first one. Not sure.) was pretty good. I'm rather cautious about playing it though. I want to make sure that playing the LISA games isn't something that I will eventually regret doing if I decide to play them all. It's not that I can't stomach dark subject matter as I was perfectly fine with it in Hotline Miami 1 & 2. Is that in anyway comparable to the LISA games? How far do the LISA games take it? I'm not against playing them, just hesitant.
  17. I recently came across LISA The Painful RPG's soundtrack. I've not played LISA The Painful RPG as I've heard it's really fucked up but I'm in love with it's soundtrack to the point of practical obsession. I've picked out what I consider to be the best songs out of the whole soundtrack as the soundtrack in it's entirety is a mixed bag through and through. I hate melodic and ethereal music. It's pointless garbage to me. Maybe it makes sense within the context of the game but I wouldn't know. On it's own I really don't think it melds well with the Electronica and Techno music. Anyway I hope you find my selection of LISA The Painful RPG's soundtrack enjoyable. These are ranked in order from top to bottom based on my opinion. Die Die Die! 18. @Seattleite how many layers of retardation would Family Guy have?
  19. Why not? Clinton's lead is mostly super-delegates and Sanders is leading in all the states coming up. If the polling is accurate, he should surpass her in pledged delegates, and then it's all about what the super delegates do. I don't know, maybe that's just my pessimism speaking for itself. I was rather tired when I wrote that. I really can't say I'm well-informed when it comes to politics.
  20. I knows it's going to wind up being Trump v. Clinton, I just know it. I wish Sanders stood a chance but I don't think he does. It would be nice if the US had some capacity to actually improve itself instead of wallowing around in it's own shit doing nothing. When did I have to start caring about reality TV because that's what politics is. Highly entertaining and downright depressing. You know what fuck this shit I reject this reality and substitute my own. I'd rather be in denial at this point then acknowledge the world around me because I don't have any ability to change it. Well technically I do but it's so minuscule that I might as well not bother.
  21. I recently stumbled across LISA The Painful RPG's OST. I didn't like most of the soundtrack as I find it to be too melodic for my taste. But then there are real diamonds in the rough like these few. Devil's Bath Boys and I am Satan are my favorites. yjFr_vW8kwc 3GMaty9S9 hVF10aqfruk _owPIVUWj9o
  22. What about Sekacnaps and Napssekacs?
  23. You need to get a grip. That reminds me, do you like hurting people?
  24. Was it your intention to give me nightmares Helio? :3 Yes, stare into the gaze of Phil and let him feast upon your intestines. Phil promises he'll be gentle. Finally, we shall merge and become one. When we do we shall become unstoppable. No one can stand in our way.
