  1. Subject #23 "High Art" As an intellectual person I hate the term "High Art". It serves no purpose other than to shame people for the work they've done based on subjective taste. It would be like if programmers defined a kind of programming called "High Programming" and only the programs with the most elaborate coding were considered "high programming". Except they don't, there are just programs that have their respective functions and that's it. So why does the term "High Art" exist? Now I wouldn't mind people having these particular tastes except when these people are pretentious hipsters who feel the need to shove their opinion down your throat and further their social status. They use the term "High Art" to box in peoples work and I'm not okay with that. People should just be happy they made something unlike the vast majority of people that don't and I don't think they should be encroached upon like this. These hipsters are just jealous that they can't be bothered to do actual work.
  2. Yeah, I think we've seen enough from this troll. Could one of the mods be so kind as to lock this thread?
  3. I might be remembering the two week playtime wrong. It probably was longer but Skyrim still felt like it was over in the blink of an eye for me. Now keep in mind that this is my very subjective opinion. I did the content that I wanted to do which was to complete all the quests and all the factions. Once I've done that to me means I've beaten the game. I felt like that kind of content in particular was severely lacking in comparison to Oblivion or Morrowind. I don't play an Elder Scrolls Game to explore every dungeon or to get all my skills to 100. That to me isn't meaningful content, it's filler. Now that isn't to say it's not meaningful to someone else but I'm not that person. I'm disappointed with Skyrim because it didn't do what I wanted it to do. I should've realized that it wasn't going to be for me. But I was in my happy, little Morrowind fanboy bubble completely blind to what was going on around me and when that bubble burst my disappointment for Skyrim stung more than it would've otherwise. I was burned by hype on top of being disappointed and as that reason for being disappointed maybe petty it's still a reason. Maybe I'm just more chaotic when it comes to traversal but I had hard time finding locations in Morrowind. I would often come back to an area I had previously been and find something new that I didn't notice the first time. While you might say that sounds repetitive for me the opposite was true. The new element in what I had previously thought to be an explored area is what kept the game fresh and exciting for me. It kept me guessing.
  4. Like, what? I've literally done all the quests there is in vanilla Skyrim. I've check the UESPWiki's page for Skyrim's quests and I've done every, single, damn one of them. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Quests . There is no more. If you don't believe me Go ahead and ask me which quests you think I haven't done and I will answer them.
  5. Nope, I did the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Companions, College of Whispers, all the Daedric quests and all the city quests. I literally beat Skyrim in it's entirety in two weeks. I even checked the wiki to make sure.
  6. How familiar are you with the Elder Scrolls series? If you're just starting from Skyrim then yes it can be a bit hard to understand where the disdain for it comes from. In terms of content it took me approximately 2 weeks of nonstop playing to beat Skyrim with no DLC in it's entirety whereas Oblivion took about 2 months and I still haven't found every quest in Morrowind. IMO vanilla Skyrim really needs mods and/or DLC to stand on it's own and it shows. By the time mods had begun to crop up I had completely lost interest. To a certain extent this is my own fault as I purchased the game on launch at full price.
  7. A big, stinky one at that.
  8. Yep, I am denying the existence of minotaurs and centaurs. Thus making me a minotaurist and a centaurist respectively.
  9. Yes, except for Morrowind and that is why it is my favorite game of all time. Morrowind and Planescape Torment have set the bar for what I expect out of a video game setting and there hasn't been video game setting that has surpassed them since their release or come anywhere near them for that matter. IMO most RPGs tend to be rather bland and uninspired in terms of their settings to a point where I kinda disgusted by them. The closest I've seen in terms of setting is the Witcher series. Both Arena and Daggerfall blur together in my head due to their generic fantasy settings and this isn't due to technical limitations either as I still feel that Oblivion and Skyrim are a step backwards in comparison to Morrowind. If you are looking to play Morrowind then I highly recommend it.
  10. I hate to break it to you buddy but minotaurs and centaurs aren't real. That's not how procreation works.
  11. I actually got a lot out of Oblivion. While it's setting was rather mundane I felt the atmosphere as a whole was very mellow, hypnotic and refreshing from Morrowind's majestic, harsh and tribal atmosphere. It's kinda hard to describe but for me the overall tone of Oblivion melded well together whereas Skyrim didn't. Combined with all the other problems Skyrim had it also felt disjointed to me compared to Morrowind and Oblivion. There was no atmosphere outside of "ra, ra, battle" and vikings in Skyrim.
  12. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Word cannot describe my disappointment for Skyrim. I was a rabid elder scrolls fan at the time who hunted down every morsel of information he could find about Skyrim. The hype-train was going so fast that I only saw the things I wanted to see from Skyrim and more, much more. More than any reasonably sane person would. So when the hype train inevitably crashed via head-on collision I didn't know what to think. Not only was I disappointed I was genuinely upset. I constantly reminded myself of everything that was wrong with the game, anyone who didn't like Morrowind and thought Skyrim was good was my enemy. I was practically out for blood. Thankfully, I'm not that person anymore and can see Skyrim for what it was. It's still isn't what I wanted, but atleast I'm not ripping someone throat out for liking it.
  13. I'll see about lowering the difficulty and make a stealth build. I wanted to see what Fallout 1 & 2 were all about since I heard they're really good RPGs. It's just that I never got far due to the combat. In Fallout 1 I got as far as Junktown and that was it.
  14. What is with people in tanks trying to run me over? That doesn't work. Tanks are so slow they make it easy for me to jump on top of and over them. I don't even have to be light assault in order to do that. I just did it twice as heavy assault.
  15. Alright, is there a way I can avoid combat entirely then? Because I can't stand it. If not then I want it to be over and done with ASAP.
  16. Now that's a sizzlin, hot mama if I do say so myself.
  17. I got a lot of buffering and kept getting disconnected from the stream. I would've stayed on if I could maintain a stable and consistent connection. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any information in regards to streaming GW2 on twitch and I didn't know what to look for either. Maybe this is something you could troubleshoot with Ross when he has time? He seems to have a pretty stable connection with his videochats. Sorry if I'm not that much help.
  18. Man, I really missed playing this game even though most of the time I'm still getting killed. I tried driving a Sunderer around and damn, they are slow. I feel like a soccer mom in her minivan trying to get the kids to the next soccer game when I drive one of these things around. I don't envy anyone who has to set one of them up as it isn't glamorous by any stretch of the imagination.
  19. Well nice, it looks like someone else already took my name(I don't blame them as it's pretty good) for a character. Has anyone else dealt with this and what did you change your name to?
  20. Thank you for the concern. But I just did what DrDino said and made a new account. I wasn't very far into the game so it's not like I really lost anything. I may want to find someway of reporting this account breaking bug though. For anyone who has an old account and are trying to reset your password. Make sure your new password is within 15 characters. Otherwise you'll brick your account.
  21. I think I figured out what happened. You know how when you go to make a PS2 account it says to use a password between 8-15 characters? Well it didn't say that in the reset password email I received and I used a password that was 16 characters. It appears to have bypassed the 15 character limit and effectively bricked my account from the inside. Is there anyway to detach that dead account from my email or is it stuck like that?
  22. So I dug up my old PS2 account and tried to reset the password. At first it look like it went through except it didn't since when I tried to login with my new password it said it was incorrect. If I try to reset my password again now I get a message saying I'm having trouble with my account(no shit Sherlock) and am told to contact customer support. When I followed the link for said customer support it just takes me to their support page. I don't know what to do at this point.
  23. Several months prior to Hotline Miami 2's release I came across this video. It appears to be a fanmade soundtrack stitched together from different music tracks and artists. But man, if this doesn't encapsulate the fever dream nightmare that is Hotline Miami 2 then I don't know what does and the first two tracks absolutely nails it. The rest are kinda so-so except the end track which is also pretty good. But it's the way the first two are arranged that gets me and this is done with only two tracks. How is that not amazing? 24. Ahh, but Jeb those are the best kinds of stories. Anyway back on topic. I was eating Cheetos out of the bag this one time and some how I perfectly pulled out this one giant cheeto stick without it breaking in the bag. It was basically 3 cheetos stitched together. I measured it and it came up to about 9 inches. then I ate it. Remember kids, the moral of the story is that if you practice your cheeto gripping skills you might end up with a giant cheeto stick. Even if you don't you might end up with a giant cheeto stick anyway.
