  1. Why does everyone have to take the games industry so seriously? Games should just be for fun and publishers should be able to screw over their customers whenever they want with no culpability whatsoever. Brilliant idea Alyxx. Your ignorance regarding the games industry is really starting to get on my nerves. Just because you're fine with being screwed over doesn't mean everyone else is. Quit defending the games industry for the shitty things it's done and will continue to do on a regular basis. People have a right to speak out against these bad business practices and your attempts to mask them as "Things the consumer wants." isn't doing anyone any favors. The average consumer doesn't know what's best for them. The average consumer will want whatever the publisher will throw at them regardless of the actual benefit it gives them. Publishers know this and take advantage of it on a regular basis. The average consumer doesn't know any better because they're ignorant. So it's the job of video game critics like Jim Sterling to defend them from bad practices, bad purchases and bad business overall.
  2. Smiling and laughing a lot. I think I might be going through some sort of mood swing.
  3. Basically me but insects and organ meat aren't totally out of the question either The two things I hate are chicken and cooked vegetables/fruits For me it depends on how gamey the organs are. It also depends on how the vegetables were cooked. Steamed is fine with me but actually cooking them in a pan or searing them is a big no. I especially hate the smell of cooked tomatoes. I also hate the taste of beef on it's own. The only meats I would say I like in terms of their flavor are pork and fish. Beef and chicken taste awful to me and I usually drown them in some sort of sauce so I don't taste the meat.
  4. YgSPaXgAdzE I'm a driver, I'm a winner. Things are gonna change I can feel it.
  5. @Rarity Thanks for the info but I already knew all of that. I'm also kind of done with programming right now. While I can program and my programs do run I haven't been able to apply that skill in any practical sense. For instance I can write scripts for several tiny insignificant experiments all of which have nothing in common with eachother. But I was never able to make a fully functional, marketable and fun game. Never really got the hang of it with applications either. Here's some examples of code I've written. I have quite a bit more code but this should give you a rough idea as to what I'm able to write. All the scripts I've written are designed to be as simplistic as possible without compromise for easy readability. I'm kind of done with programming right now because of the reason I mentioned above. These scripts all came from tiny insignificant little experiments I was toying with no practical value whatsoever. I'm not sure what I'm lacking. But I'm lacking in it so severely that I can't apply my programming skills in any practical sense. I've tried making my own game. A year was spent and a game didn't come out of it. What came out it was a fucking hodgepodgey mess of a failure. I didn't even bother to publish the thing it was so bad. It was very evident that I bit off more than I could chew. I'm a programmer that made nothing practical for a year and it shows. I'm still upset that I wasted a fucking year trying to make whatever the hell that was which ultimately turned out to be fucking nothing. But it would've been so much worse had I put more time into it. It was just shit layered on top of shit layered on top of shit layered on top of shit and I would've just been digging myself into a hole. I could keep going as to how fucking excruciatingly egregious it all was. By the time a year had past I was out for blood and wanted to fucking die. I don't even want to think about it. Such a waste.
  6. I'm really hesitant to go see it. What I've been hearing is it's a good movie for fans. I hate it when anyone goes out of their way to make a movie specifically for fans rather than movie from their vision. Fans aren't interested in improving the medium as a whole so they'll like whatever they like. It's why I don't like fans as there aren't any distinctions amongst their individual tastes. People know how to please fans and I'd rather watch something that's good on it's own merits. I don't think a movie designed from the ground up to serve the fans is capable of doing that.
  7. Dark Souls 2: Now before I begin all hail King Gelu. While I do miss the depressing melancholic atmosphere and great level design of Dark Souls 1 Dark Souls 2 is by no means a bad game IMO. There were quite a few repeats in terms of themes and bosses but there were some moments where I think Dark Souls 2 found it's own identity. The Black Gulch and Shrine of Amana levels kept me on my toes. The Black Gulch is freaking intense and I loved how the Shrine of Amana was designed to keep you moving. The Shrine of Amana in particular was my favorite area in Dark Souls 2. Scorpioness Najka, Iron King, Throne Defender and Throne watcher were lesser rip offs of Quelaag, Ceaseless Discharge, Ornstein and Smough. The Lost Sinner is almost exactly like Gwyn but honestly I think the Lost Sinner is a lot better than Gwyn simply because he can't be parried. If you try to parry the Lost Sinner you'll get your ass handed to you. I also thought Demon of Song was really fun to fight against. Once again I beat Dark Souls 2 with Mouse and Keyboard. I tried using the gamepad I got for Christmas but my hands violently protested. I couldn't stand how slow the camera turned with the analog stick as opposed to the mouse. The camera movement also felt really stiff so in the end I went back to walking on my hands because that's what that felt natural to me. I can't go back to walking on my feet after started walking on my hands in Dark Souls 1. I'm kind of tempted to doing a company of champions playthrough from scratch. But I'm gonna do my Dark Souls 1 pyromancer run first. Feel free to tell me I belong in a mental asylum if what I'm saying is absolutely insane.
  8. UT2004 would be a great alternative to PS2. That's my pick. BTW Ross I'm sorry if my question regarding the movie made you upset. I was judging from my own experiences with things taking years long to make. By the time a year had passed while I was developing the game it felt like I was going and circles and wasting time. At that point I was just done with it and practically out for blood so I canned it. Even if I did finish it would've been a half baked mess. I think I made the only sensible choice there was and I would've dug myself into a hole had I continued.
  9. I played this game back in one of the Twitch chats I hung out in. I thought it was so good that I couldn't resist bringing it to you guys. Basically I'll make up a super hero/villain who's superpower is something crappy and unhelpful. Think along the lines of heroes and villains from shows like the Tick or the Adventures of Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy from Spongebob if that helps. The next poster must come up with another hero/villain and describe how their hero/villain defeats my hero/villain. Next poster after will do the exact same thing and so on. So to kick things off I'll start with the best hero I came up during the chat. *Insert generic drumroll here* IRONIC HIPSTER MAN! His power is that he can defend anything as long he's doing it ironically. I like to think he's more of an antihero than a hero because of this. Alright, now for whoever posts next how does your hero/villain defeat Ironic Hipster Man?
  10. Well when you put it that way yes I do think the toxicity was present way before this current geopolitical landscape. But I think that kind of toxicity has to do more with a general sense of insularity rather than anything of conservative characteristics. There's an element of fanboyism to this toxicity. CoD and Battlefield fanboys have been duking it out since forever because both CoD and Battlefield have marketed themselves as being in opposition with one another. Same goes for any two games that market themselves in such a way. There is also an element of being cut off or disconnected in regards to gaming in general. PC gamers and console gamers have fundamentally different experiences due to different control schemes, differences in hardware, console exclusives, etc. PC Gamers, Xbox Gamers and Playstation Gamers all subtlety resent each other because of those differences. It's where arguments like 30 FPS vs 60 FPS come from. PC Gamers say that 60 FPS is objectively better than 30 FPS and that video games should be held to that standard in terms of performance. Whereas Console gamers say there isn't a difference because they can't see it and argue that PC Gamers are being too harsh on developers. The whole 30 FPS vs 60 FPS argument is just one example of how gamers individually hate each other. You can trace all the toxicity within gaming back to one source, fanboyism. I suppose that gamer fanboyism is similar to nationalism in a way. They both love something to the expense of everything else. For nationalists this would be their country. For gamers this would anything they're a fanboy of.
  11. Dark Souls 2: Well guys I did it, I grinded for 20 sunlight medals, some Titanite and got my Sun Blade +10. The closest thing I'll be able to get to my beloved Baldur Side Sword from Dark Souls 1. Except it's considerably shorter than the Baldur Side Sword. now if you'll excuse me I will now be attempting to resist the urge of eating my own face and/or intestines for all the grinding I went through for a shorter Baldur Side Sword, fucking hell.
  12. Not once have Gamers have ever been entirely united in terms of thought and as group. The concepts of "Gaming Culture", "The Gaming Community" and "Gamers" are gigantic misnomers. All those terms are mere contrivances constructed by the media and publishers for marketing purposes. They want to give you this false sense of belong to ensure that you'll buy their shit no matter what. I swear to god if anyone is soignorant to defend this system then you're apart of it and a fucking sheep. Just because you happen like a system that doesn't give you the right to excuse how fundamentally shitty and fucked up this situation is. You're doing no one any favors. The racist and sexist morons which shout their ignorant views at every given opportunity are just as capable of playing video games as I am. If you can lump me in with those degenerates just because I happen to enjoy the same medium as they do then yes I suppose the "Gaming Community" has a toxicity problem if you can really call it a community in the first place. As I just explained it makes no sense to create a group purely based on surface elements. "Gaming Culture", "The Gaming Community" and "Gamers" are all pure social constructs devised for marketing purposes and please don't be fooled into thinking otherwise. It has never been to anyone's benefit and never will be. While I'm at it I would like to talk about "Gamer" as a label. I fucking hate labels and absolutely reject the notion of be called anything as cringy as "Gamer". Anyone who uses a medium as part of their identity is quite frankly a sad and depressing excuse of an individual. I'm not a gamer, I just play video games. Why does everything have to be incorporated into some form of a person's identity now? Is it a social faux pas if I don't identify as a video games themselves and I say it's merely an activity I take part in? It's why I refuse to even consider the thought of participating in politics despite me being rather left-leaning. If I didn't have to deal with the mentally defective individuals whom have incorporated being a Democrat as part of their identity and "lifestyle" then maybe I would. But as it stands no way in hell am I ever touching politics with a 10 ft poll wrapped with barbed wire. To give you an idea I didn't even bother to register to vote in this country. I would rather say nothing just to spite those people. That is how much contempt I have for these individuals. I feel that politics are so fundamentally toxic I refuse to take part of it in any regard. I'm sorry for being this harsh SelfSurprise. But I'm completely against identity politics no matter what shape they take hold and will fight them until the day I die. People who feel the need to identify as anything deserve nothing but my contempt and my spit in their face. Your identity is a given with no need for explanation. If a person does feel a need then that tells me exactly what kind of person I'm dealing with. A weak willed, minded, spined, slave with no semblance of a personality. They're the fundamental antithesis of a living, breathing, intelligent person and deserve nothing.
  13. Isn't Rotten Tomatoes like the Metacritic of Movies? I would hardly call people that use those sites legitimate critics. I consider myself to be a critic more than a gamer or moviegoer. I like games and movies I consider to be good but don't enjoy the medium for the medium's sake. I find this distinction important and I don't think you can legitimately call me a gamer/moviegoer because of it. Gamers/moviegoers love whatever comes their way whereas I don't. If I watch a game/film I consider to be bad/mediocre then I've wasted my time which could've otherwise be spent on something worthwhile. I also hate the self indulgent culture surrounding those mediums but that's a topic for another day.
  14. I found these while looking videos for DS1 and DS2. I've spent way too much time watching them. If anyone's up for some absolutely manic ravings of madness this is for you.
  15. Dark Souls 2: There is only two constants within this world. Gavlan wheel, Gavlan deal.
  16. What are you talking about? Peter Nomanski's work on post-modern existentialism is truly amazing.
  17. Happu New years Binky. I'm completely blitzed from drinking half a cupe of sprinkling wine. It'll be amazing if I can form somewaht coherent sentences.
  18. I really wouldn't hedge your bet if I were you TheTron. Medicare in the US will be practically nonexistent leading to the death of millions who need it in order to live and Brexit will probably ruin the UK economically. It's not exactly what I'd call a good start.
  19. Dark Souls 2: Currently farming sunlight medals with rusted coins and the Covetous Golden Serpent +1 over at Tseldora Cove.
  20. 4oeaHOzuQbM God bless you Mr. Pie. While I do agree that damning an entire year based solely on celebrity deaths is pretty stupid as Pie explained there's plenty of other legitimate reasons for why 2016 is awful.
  21. Ross what's going on with Dead Game News? It's been a while since you posted a Dead Game News video. What do you suspect you'll be doing after the Movie is finished? I know that's kind of like asking where do you see yourself in 5 years. But a rough idea as to what you think you'll be doing would work too. What is the overall goal of Game Dungeon? I've been watching for quite sometime and I still can't figure out if it's to cover interesting games or obscure games as most of the games you've covered thus far seem to fall into both categories. I don't seem to recall you mentioning it either.
  22. Dark Souls 2: I've had an okay time thus far and haven't raged at all. But I'm getting this sense that something just doesn't feel right and I can't quite put my finger on it. Whatever it was Dark Souls 1 had it and playing DS2 is making me appreciate DS1 all the more. In fact I really want to replay DS1.
  23. Ross you need to check out Mental Omega. It's a complete overhaul of Red Alert 2 and it's campaign missions are brutally unforgiving. Not to mention it's physically impossible to save or load as the functionality hasn't been implemented into the engine. So if you want a challenge I highly recommend it. This is latest trailer for Mental Omega. BmYE3JDL59g Happy birthday Ross.
  24. That seems like an impossible feat to me. I can beat DS1 with mouse and keyboard. But I don't think I could do it with a regular Xbox One Controller. I had tried to use my Xbox One Controller when playing Witcher 3 and I was getting some massive PS2 fanboy rejection symptoms. The PS2's layout is just too ingrained into my head for me to get it out. Oh well, the problem seems to be resolved thanks to the Logitech gamepad f310's PS2 like layout. I've been able to use it without any issues, mental or physical.
  25. What do you mean? I've been using it to play Dark Souls 2 ever since I got it and it seems to working just fine. I got the Logitech gamepad f310 in particular since regular Xbox controller designs drive me nuts. As a former longtime PS2 user it really bugs me that the d-pad is in the left analog stick's spot and vice versa. It's something I hadn't been aware of until I got an Xbox One controller. the layout was too mentally confusing for me to use. I blame my mom for not being able to buy me more than one console. It's your fault I'm like this mom!
