  1. So I guess you're like that character from Memento? In this case, MAJOR SPOILER: Don't forget to mention HUGE SPOILER: and GIGANTIC SPOILER:
  2. 1000+ Undertale has changed my perception for the better and made me consider ideas that I wouldn't have explored otherwise. It made me think as to what I get out of my gaming experience.
  3. I personally found Iji to be frustrating as hell to get into because the gameplay was so unfamiliar and strange to me. I couldn't get the hang of it and the tutorial prompts weren't helpful at all. After getting slaughtered over and over again I shut off the game, deleted the it's folder and haven't looked at it since. Overall I had a terrible experience with Iji and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone until the tutorial gets a massive revamp. All of Iji's mechanics are so poorly explained I can't see anyone playing Iji without winding up getting frustrated and breaking something as that's how I felt playing it.
  4. Ross was already asked this question. Ross said his favorite UT 2004 skin was Mr. Crow.
  5. I loved the bit that Ross did for Invisible War's cover That was just perfect, I demand more white gangsta Ross.
  6. The Kidney Thieves are really good. Thanks for introducing them to me Ross.
  7. I'm kinda under the impression that whole "Augment Your Pre-order" fiasco has left a bad taste in peoples' mouths. Because of it they're extra harsh then they would've been otherwise. I've also heard the story in Mankind Divided is weak. But I don't recall Human Revolution's story being particularly revolutionary(badum tish!) either so I really wasn't expecting much and I don't consider a weak story to be a great loss for a Deus Ex game. Hell Deus Ex 1's story wasn't even good to begin with so what were you people expecting? As long as I can do the dumbest shit imaginable and have it somehow work in my favor that's Deus Ex to me.
  8. Yes it's pretty fucking annoying? On a similar note I hate people who use commas instead of periods at the ends of their sentences, I once saw this massive paragraph with nothing but commas, It hurt my soul, People who use and more than once and periods for incomplete sentences. are pretty annoying as well.
  9. Spoilers for the end of Undertale's true pacifist run.
  10. Did you remember to offer a sacrifice to the forum gods so that they may bless your threads?
  11. I've taken sometime to rethink my critique when it comes to video games as I feel it has some flaws. Firstly I don't really have specific opinions when it comes to video games. some of the opinions I've given were really hamfisted and I felt like I was trying to make a point across but didn't truly know what that point was. In terms of objectivity I think that it's best that I give myself a stated goal when it comes to these critiques. My previous critiques were pretty aimless outside of saying what I don't like and there's not a whole lot of conversation that can come from that. I think that goal for me is to help this medium progress in terms of it's design and mechanics. So that would I mean I would encourage new ideas, applaud games for taking risks. For some critics being for the consumer is their goal but I think being for the medium suits mine. Lastly I don't think that any mechanics or game design are inherently bad and saying so was a complete misnomer. Poorly thought out implementation is what's bad. I've encountered so many instances on so many occasions that proved my opinion to be just downright wrong. Just because bad or unimaginative implementation may be the norm for some mechanics and games should by no means speak for all of them. IMO this point especially is where I failed the most with my critiques because I fell for only letting the majority speak for all mechanics and game design which wasn't at all the case and that giant misnomer plagues all of my previous critiques. From a logical perspective is a horrifically misleading way of thinking.
  12. IMO the problem has more to do newer gamers rather than gamers that just don't care. Sure they aren't exactly helping matters but they're a minority when compared to the constant influx of new gamers each and every year. You see as the market for video games becomes more casual(which in of itself isn't a bad thing) the more it's able to reach new people who've never played video games before and thus are unfamiliar with the environment. People only have to be burned once to learn that fire is bad but the thing with constantly changing audiences is that you can burn them as many times as you want because they are inexperienced people on top of never being the same people. Couple this with the people who just don't care and hype-mongers and you've got yourself a war in which the games industry has already won. Unfortunately this will never change as much as I would love it to.
  13. Yeah, since Meelis is actually suffering from Depression whereas I've never been in my entire life means I'm not to be able to relate to his situation and give him the proper advice he needs. I often wonder if I shouldn't say anything when in the presence of a Depressed person because by offering it I might be making they're situation drastically worse then I'm aware of.
  14. If EA's screw up is to your benefit then what's there to complain about? If I were you I would see if you could find anymore instances like that and milk it for everything that it's worth.
  15. That's basically what I said with my shield metaphor. Ideally you shouldn't take anything personally because then it can't hurt you. Personal investment is one of mankind's greatest downfalls because not only does doing so achieve nothing if it's constructive criticism then it harms an potential progress of the overall conversation for improvement.
  16. Have you considered hiding your PC? See if you can find any areas of your house that are well concealed and where people wouldn't think look for it. Then see if there's anyway to route power over to that area. It might be a bit cramped and you won't be able to visit your PC often as to not give away it's new location. But it is a start. That's the reason why your shield is crumbling. The less you can think of these people as your "caring family" or even as people the stronger your shield will be because you put distance mentally between you and them. Believe me reality warrants a bit of necessary Sociopathy . They won't mean a damn thing to you once you do that and at that point you're practically invulnerable. Just because they're related to you by blood doesn't mean anything and the notion of a "caring family" is a complete misnomer. If they're treating you as badly as you say they are then they don't actually care for you and if they say they do then they're lying through their teeth.
  17. provoking people will only make this situation worse than it needs to be. Also stop going off-topic. OT: Interaction with NPCs in Deus Ex 1 I find fascinating how far Deus Ex 1 takes Interaction with NPCs. I knocked out all the guards before rescuing Gunther. So I gave my 10mm pistol to him as a joke and now he sort of likes me. In fact He told Anna Navarre that I handled the situation rather well. Deus Ex 1 can be interesting sometimes.
  18. Please don't start. The last thing this thread needs is you two at each other's throats again.
  19. My suggestion would be to start building a mental shield to protect yourself. Shut them off at every given opportunity, stop answer emails, calls, anything that allows them to continue communicating with you. If you're not in a position to do that then let them say whatever it is they're going to say but don't let it affect you personally. Ideally you shouldn't even register what they say if you can help it. What's important is that you know that you have control over your life and they don't. Most instances you cannot prevent from happening but you can mitigate the pain they cause to a point where you won't feel it.
  20. I've never played Payday 2 so that really doesn't help me. Did the devs of Payday 2 screw over their playerbase? Is BTG saying that he appreciates it when developers aren't complete dickheads to their playerbase? I'm really kind of lost as to what he meant.
  21. What exactly do you mean by that? As far as I'm aware most games get support and patches from devs.
  22. We should all just become Anarchists. The best kind of government is no government at all.
  23. I don't know what more I can do. I recognize that I am a jerk and I've been trying to fight it. It's just that fighting it doesn't seem to fix it Well the negative influences in my life are also positive influences. Take video games for instance, there's the shitty video game publisher side that treats developers badly, shuts down online only games permanently, chops up parts of games into DLC and rushes developers. Yet there's the developer side which showcases just how artistic game design can be at times and the way a game is designed tells you a story about how the developers made their game. I think I might be fixated on hating the former and not giving enough attention to the latter. Come to think of it that's how I view most things. I see the negative first and my hatred for the negative makes me forget the positive.
  24. Pretty shitty, I won an argument on the internet today, except I didn't win anything and burned a bridge in the process. I want to be a nice/good person but at some point I always snap and devolve right back where to I started. It's like I'm stuck being a jerk despite wanting to improve and my efforts to fight it.
