Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Forgive and Forget?
Heliocentrical replied to ArtisticLove's topic in Gaming in general
What Jim Sterling is talking about has nothing to do with microtransactions/DLC impact on the gameplay. He's talking about being against the principle of microtransactions/DLCs being in full priced games itself. He even said that he enjoyed Mankind divided. That the microtransactions were so rushed that the game's pacing wasn't designed to accompany them effectively making them worthless in the first place. But he wants the games industry to stop using microtransactions/DLC as they ultimately serve to undermine the consumer. It's his agenda and it's one that agree with 100%. For every inch they're given publishers will make them the biggest fucking miles you can imagine. It's only a matter of time till the power of the consumer's purchases widdled down to nothing and the soul of video games being split into 100s of tiny, minute slivers of DLC for $2.99 each. That might have been a bit exaggerative but you get my point. -
Ross you really should've been more clear that you switched from September 4th to September 3rd for the Videochat. Not even danielsangeo knew you switched and I don't know how many people missed out on the Videochat. Since I still thought it was happening on September 4th so I completely missed it.
-
Yeah that's what I thought too. I don't know what happened. This most definitely is the September videochat. It's two hours long and Ross is answering questions like he would normally. If you go over to his Twitch Channel you'll see an option to watch the latest broadcast which was the September videochat. According to Twitch it happened yesterday. Something was messed up.

What happened with the September Videochat? I just checked Ross's twitch channel expecting it to start within a few hours like usual but his twitch channel says he broadcasted it 21 hours ago. I really wanted to join in on the live chat for the September videochat too and now I'm bummed out that I won't be able to since I missed it.

One of my favorite things to do in a video game is to explore the entire map on foot without any shortcuts such as fast travel. It helps me to get immersed in the world I'm playing in. Bethesda's games such as their Elder Scrolls and Fallout games were pretty much my go to for this. However I've basically explored everything in Bethesda's games so I'm currently on the look out for games with interesting maps to explore. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Indeed, bystanders seem to be blowing situation between you and I way out of proportion. Just to let everyone know me and Username are on good terms and everything is fine.

I have a lot of stupid, edgelordy opinions so I more then welcome when you point them out to me. Usually at the time I don't recognize them as such and just kinda roll with them. Like when I was complaining about emotions that was kinda dumb and pointless. Trust me I deserve the occasional thwack against the back of my head to make sure I'm thinking straight. What's done is done so just let it die.
-
Wow that's one roller coaster of a thought process right there. That doesn't even make any sense. I agree with you, your friend's choice boggles my mind as well. I hope things get sorted out somehow.
-
Why would you do this? You're basically shooting yourself in the foot for no reason. If you didn't know ahead of time then fair enough. But otherwise I can't see that kind of situation turning out good for anyone involved. Life Tip #4: Choose your battles carefully. This is something I still haven't learned. Just because a hill exists doesn't mean you should die on it right from the get go.

The question is will that actually happen? How likely will this happen? Are say the owners of Pornhub actually pursuing this? The person in the video said they might but didn't actually confirm anything. The whole video was pure speculation. Just because people want to leave Youtube doesn't mean there's enough incentive for companies to provide a platform rival to it. In fact I'm fairly certain this is the case. If Youtube is operating at a loss even as the largest video hosting service then how likely is it that a company would want to operate a rival video hosting service that will make significantly less money? That's a huge risk on their part. I'm not saying this is impossible just incredibly unlikely.

Are Modder the Future for Innovation?
Heliocentrical replied to Heliocentrical's topic in Gaming in general
I was thinking more along the lines of complete overhauls like GMDX and Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition. Something that completely changes a core aspect of the game. Not something tiny and insignificant like "boob physics" or turning dragons into John Cena. Probably should've specified that but oh well. -
Meth, lots and lots of meth. Hooray! another Planescape Torment fan I can talk to. How did you build the Nameless One? I made the Nameless One into a lawful good mage. I've been thinking about playing again. But this time I would make the Nameless One into a Chaotic Evil Fighter and see if anything's different.

Because Youtube is the single largest video hosting service and because of that it's entrenched. In order to hurt let alone touch Google's profits it's users would need to leave in droves of almost a billion including content creators. While this might seem easy for regular viewers who have no stake in Youtube as a business that isn't so for a good portion of content creators. Those people have made themselves careers out of making content on Youtube and while they made videos on how shitty Youtube is they ultimately can't leave Youtube due to that aforementioned self-made career. They depend on Youtube and have stake in it as a business. So leaving Youtube would be career suicide for them. Youtube has them by the balls and won't hesitate to cut them off at any given notice. Now couple this with the fact that most users don't care and you've got a recipe for Youtube to do nothing. Youtube will stay right were it is, sitting on it's ass till the end of time because it can.

Deus Ex 1: It's fun but easily one of the most mindless games I've ever played. My brain feels like it's melting at this point. In a good way mind you but melting nonetheless.

1. What is the most immersion breaking moment you've ever had in a video game? Like something so bad it completely rips you out of the game and it's all you can think about when it comes to that game. 2. Do you still have faith in your top 25 list of most anticipated games or not so much anymore? Into the Stars, Firewatch, Slain, We Happy Few, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Uncanny Valley have all turned out to be duds critically. I still hope Mother Russia Bleeds turns out to be good. That game looks badass. 3. I haven't heard anything recently from Dead Game News. Does that mean games have stopped dying at least for now or do you unfortunately have so bad news on the way?

I appreciate the sentiment but considering the fact that very little of this actually applies to me it comes off as very patronizing Okay then, nonetheless I still give you benefit of a doubt and don't take your posts personally. I've always assumed that when you post your intention wasn't antagonistic in nature but rather mis-characterized as such. I'm not exactly the most socially charismatic person either as a good portion of my posts could come across as blunt and hamfisted. A lot of them are just how I felt at the time and not much else thought was put into them.

This has been on my mind for quite sometime. The way I see it now major games publishers and developers are growing ever increasingly out of touch with each passing year say for a few exceptions such as CD Projekt Red. The industry has been shifting it's priorities away from the niche to the more inclusive. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Old games like Fallout 1 & 2 are far too dense and have far too many noticeable flaws for them to really have any market beyond a niche one. But IMO the industry has gone too far with it's streamlining and has completely lost any potential for innovation. Instead of maintaining a balance between the two publishers and developers have completely forgone innovation in favor of streamlining. I also don't believe the industry has any plans in changing course anytime soon either but that doesn't mean the soul of innovation has been lost entirely. It just moved over to independent developers or modders who were in most circumstances former fans of AAA games that no longer found what they were looking for in the games they played. I've come to view games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim as templates for modders to imprint their own idea of what the game would be rather than the actual developers. Let's be honest here there's only so much you can get out of Fallout 4 or Skyrim till it has worn it's welcome. But moddability is a pretty good reason to buy a game alone because moddable games stand in an area where you can't really lose as a consumer when you buy one. Don't like the game? Well then turn it into something else you do like and move on. But that means modders are the ones we should be paying attention to and not the actual developers since modders basically put a heart into what was once a lifeless body. There's only good things that can come from modders if their given the right tools and have more passion than the developers. At this point it's fairly safe for me to say that' is the case. Developers don't make games anymore they make engines and honestly I don't think that's a bad idea. What better way is there to give the consumer what they want then handing them the tools and saying "have at it."?

"Hey honey, if you want a good time you know where to find one."

I have some insight I would like to offer. I'm giving username the benefit of a doubt and not taking it personally. Back when I working with special needs people I encountered a behavioral pattern very similar to username's. When they spoke it was only on very basic terms. They were very quick to anger, unable to learn the nuances of social interaction and this lack of understanding would stress them out. I think username might be suffering from some form of autism(and I do not mean that as an insult). Her posts are often very basic, she seems to find social interaction very complicated, stressful and that's why her posts are as provocative as they are. She's acting out of defense and survival . She perceives other posts as some sort of indirect attack against herself because they serve as a source of stress for her. I would say give username a bit of space in this regard. She's trying her best to be a part of this community and want's to talk about the things she likes. But she's unable to grasp the subtleties of social interaction and will feel like she's being attacked. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about that. But if she posts something that comes across as aggressive don't assume it's an attack against you because it's not. It's an attack against what she finds stressful. So please just dismiss them and continue about your business.

From my experience Cooler Master was pretty well rounded when it came to price/performance. I currently have a 120 MM Cooler Master fan mounted onto my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and ATM my FX 8320 at default clock speed is maintaining about 37-38 degrees celsius. This thread really isn't an appropriate place to discuss hardware though as there's already a hardware subsection viewforum.php?f=56 for these forums.

You do realize that I was being sarcastic right? Fixed that, I meant to type baffles.

While lurking around youtube I found this video that hurt my soul today and has reaffirmed my lack of faith in humanity. At first the title sounded interesting and I've never heard of this person before so I clicked on the video. Well it turns out that the title was clickbait and the whole video is just some idiot rambling about how essays are "too long" and how "only people from the 1800s used those words". Well boo fucking hoo honey dear, your life must be so hard that you were actually taught something fucking useful for once in your miserable excuse of a life. Goddamn, I've never wanted to cap someone in the back of the head so hard for their sheer ignorance and gall before. But it's the fucking gall that really gets to me. How does someone who sounds to be in their mid-teens come to that conclusion? Well no fucking wonder society is as retarded as it is today. It completely baffles me as to how I'm even same fucking species as this person. Some people shouldn't be given the right to fucking breath sometimes. Ah, it feels so good to explode about pointless bullshit again. It feels like I haven't done it in ages.

Well if reinstalling Windows doesn't fix it then it might be your HDD itself in which case you'll have to get a new one. But if that's the case then whatever you do do not cheap out and buy a Seagate HDD. I learned that the hard way and by the hard way I mean I had to reinstall windows 5 times till it clicked in my brain that the HDD itself was the problem. Not my best moment or favorite experience.

Dredd - Judge Dredd and a rookie officer are sent to investigate a megacity suspected of illicit drug activity. A very nice self-contained story with great practical effects.
