  1. I like most Metroidvanias but ones that focus on melee combat drive me up a wall. Most melee combat systems I've found in Metroidvanias are too finicky and you're going to get hit if your melee arc is so short that you have be right in the monster's face in order to hit him. Whereas with ranged combat you're far less likely to get hit atleast in my experience. I couldn't stand playing Rogue Legacy because I kept getting flicked around like a pinball and there was nothing I could do about it except die. It was such bullshit.
  2. Nothing wrong with that, I'm half way through Quake I on Nightmare difficulty.
  3. Well then don't leave your posts open to shitposting. It's practically a law of the internet that if your post can be mocked in any way shape or form it will be and there will be no mercy for you. Rules or no rules on the internet we are all savages.
  4. No, it's obviously Photonic Design Automation. No no wait, it's Post-Deflection Acceleration. How about a Programmable Device Array? It's got to be a Post-Detection Amplifier. Maybe it's a Phased Disassembly Array? This shitpost was brought to you with the help of http://www.acronymfinder.com/ and it's 135 definitions of PDA http://www.acronymfinder.com/PDA.html .
  5. Red, arm length, fingerless gloves are all the rage.
  6. So sometime in the future I will be upgrading to a i5 6500 CPU. Is the stock cooler that comes with the i5 6500 enough to cool it or should I get an aftermarket CPU Cooler along with it?
  7. Paladins I'm so happy to be playing Overwatch again and not pay $40 for it.
  8. Well that doesn't really help me seeing as SelfSurprise still hasn't taken the quiz... yet As for enemies I don't really feel that way towards anyone. Sure I may have had a few quarrels with people on these forums before and people are more than welcome to think of me what they will because I don't care. I think that the 93% Assertive / 7% Turbulent is very much indicative of that. But Holding a grudge over what amounts to basic internet pettiness is kinda dumb IMO.
  9. How do you figure that out? I don't know which personalities I would get along with, are neutral with or despise. I took the quiz at https://www.16personalities.com/ again and now I'm an INFJ. 31% Extroverted / 69% Introverted 81% Intuitive / 19% Observant 47% Thinking / 53% Feeling 61% Judging / 39% Prospecting 93% Assertive / 7% Turbulent I like these results better especially the 93% Assertive / 7% Turbulent . 81% Assertive / 19% Turbulent was good but I felt it didn't quite encapsulate just how assertive I am. Chaotic Neutral for the win!
  10. What about the HyperX's and Corsair's RAM? HyperX's and Corsair's RAM goes down to 13 Cas Latency as opposed to Mushkin's and G.Skill's RAM which only goes down to 15 Cas Latency. The $79 2x16 pack of RAM from Corsair with 13 Cas Latency looks like a really good deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233831 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104599 Also is there any performance difference between 2x8 GB RAM sticks and 1x16?
  11. When it comes to PC components which ones would you say are safe to cheap out on? I would say the motherboard and the case because you're just paying for features when it comes to motherboards and cases. With cases do you really need 240 radiator mounts for watercooling, power supply shrouds or have all the usb ports on the front IO be 3.0? With motherboards do you really need 3-4 PCI express ports, Japanese capacitors, overclocking capabilities or usb 3.0 support? I would still say stick with well known brands but outside of that these features seem unnecessary and a bit overkill.
  12. I might be reading into too much but honestly if he hasn't aggrieved too much and seems well intentioned I would say give him a chance. He might feel bad that he can't empathize from your viewpoint so he's trying to offer you a window into his in a very subtle way. Speaking as someone who has a lot of family oriented people in his family they can initially come across as uptight and even cold at times. This is due to their relatively small worldview and I don't mean that in a condescending way. They're just very fearful and concerned people. But At their core they view familial bonds as something integral despite how they come across from the onset. They want to keep in touch with family members and keep the family as a whole closely-knit. This is very important to them. Feel free to call me out if this isn't the case but your brother-in-law doesn't seem like that bad of a person. To me he seems like someone who's just overly concerned about his family. I would say try to relate to him on his own terms and I know that's asking a lot but you might find some aspect of his character that's relatable to you. @Jeb_CC can I ask you about Depression? I know it might be asking a lot but I sort of feel bad for not understanding it. I've never experienced what people have described to me as being depressed and people who said they suffer from depression just appear to me as though they're just sad and tired for a very long time. For lack of better words I don't get it and this bothers me. Not that I'd want to experience depression as it seems like it sucks but at the same time I can't help but feel like I missing the whole picture here. You know what I mean?
  13. My R9 280 is pretty stable. Though with that being said I was upgrading from an R7 260x which was incredibly unstable and would shut off at random intervals. I learned my lesson to never buy a GPU that was overclocked by the manufacturer. I most certainly am not going with an Nvidia GPU. They're overpriced.
  14. Nox: I miss Westwood, they really gave Bilzzard a run for their money back in the day. Could you imagine an alternate universe where Westwood Studios became the massively successful game Studio instead of Blizzard Entertainment? I would love to see Red Alert 4 as a competitive esport and Nox would have 2 sequels.
  15. Bad news: It makes you hate the thing you loved. Good news: You discovered a scientific breakthrough.
  16. Depends on the type of game. First Person Shooters like Unreal Tournament and Quake would've most definitely suffered from an 30 FPS cap. But no one cares if say a turn based strategy game is locked at 30 FPS. I'd argue that a consistent framerate is more important than a high framerate. How many games have you played where for a while you were hovering at around 30-45 FPS and then all of a sudden the game takes a nosedive into 5-10 FPS. That's more annoying then being unable to run at 60 FPS.
  17. Bad news: Half Life 3 has been in development hell for 9 years and is more disappointing than Duke Nukem Forever. Good news: An enemy of yours fell down a flight of stairs.
  18. So I'm neutral in a couple of ways but an extremist in others? That's strangely fitting for me.
  19. Sure, why not? According to https://www.16personalities.com/ . I'm a Mediator. INFP-A/-T Not really sure what those mean. 44% Extroverted / 56% Introverted Yes. 86% Intuitive / 14% Observant Yes. 48% Thinking / 52% Feeling WTF? How am I more feeling than thinking? 44% Judging / 56% Prospecting Yes. I tend not to be judgmental of others. 81% Assertive / 19% Turbulent I Agree with this 100%. I don't take shit from nobody. You toss shit at me I'll toss it straight back and make you my bitch on top of that. Very mature approach to life I assure you.
  20. Yeah, since when have experiments turned out well on the first try? As I said the effort was ultimately worth it in end but 3D games from the late 90s to early 2000s don't look good in terms of art direction. Early 3D game textures were compressed to hell. It doesn't make them bad games by pointing that out though. It's just a flaw that ages them slightly. An aspect of a game that hasn't aged well doesn't make the game not hold up in other regards.
  21. Okay still, what's the excuse for not to make something that looks better and is easier to make? FF7 would've looked so much better if it was 2D sprite based as opposed to going with early 3D polygonal models. I'm convinced that early 3D polygonal graphics were nothing but a death march towards better 3D models and while I say the effort was ultimately worth it in the end(I mean look at the 3D models we have today) I can't help but feel that the 3D games made during the late 90s have aged poorly in terms of graphics. Doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with point flaws like this out. I enjoyed the original Deus Ex GOTY but I still recognize the graphics as aged garbage. Same goes for Morrowind and Morrowind is one of my favorite games of all time. I know those games are from the early 2000s but I think the principle still applies.
  22. @Psychotic Ninja well considering FF7's 3D graphics are a visual downgrade compared to FF6's 2D sprites I think it's a reasonable complaint. To paraphrase Ross I will take good 2D sprite art over archaic, experimental 3D models that are barely not polygons with washed out or dark textures to hide the fact that the textures lack any sort of definition. Any 20 year old 3D game is going to look like absolute rancid ass which is pretty indefensible no matter how you cut it in terms of art style and direction. By the standards for 2D sprite art from the early to mid 90s 3D models from the late 90s look downright godawful. I understand that the groundwork had to be laid for 3D but by no means were early iterations pretty or memorable.
  23. So tell me James, how much blood did I spill today?
  24. I was complaining about something similar in regards to high end PC hardware enthusiasts. Four way SLI? gotta have it. 128 GBs of RAM? gotta have it. It's not even the hardware that gets me the most. Atleast overdone hardware actually has some purpose unlike fucking hardline watercooling and LEDs which puts your PC at more of a risk than needed and makes your PC look like a gaudy eyesore all at the conveniently low price of $3000. Fuck those people who turn their PCs into fucking hot rods for the sake of turning them into fucking hot rods. It's stupid. Anyway honestly don't bother giving these kind of people the time of day. It's not worth it.
