Games you used to love, but now hate
BidetoftheDead replied to AP_Pastor's topic in Gaming in general
I'd say the same thing, but for New Vegas. I liked it, but as i kept playing, I get this "what now?" feeling in my head, like I should be doing else. I tried reigniting my interest by trying one of the DLC's, Dead Money, but I got caught in a glitch that got me stuck in one of the missions. I gave up at that point. As for Fo3, it's been a while since I last played, but i hope i can get back to that and not get the same reaction as i had with New Vegas. New Vegas certainly does get old fast. I love it but like, most of the stuff is kinda dull despite people overhyping it's writing. It has some real weak writing and quest design in some places and a good example would be it's main story were a good chunk was just doing side quests to expand it's main story. Despite people saying radiant quests are more chore-like, I feel the radiant design in stuff like skyrim and fallout 4 are more fun then most of New Vegas's quests which feel, well, more like I'm doing a chore. -
Certain types of tea are great for improving a person's mood, relax their muscles, various other things. I recommend green tea with some jasmine or mint thrown in.

Fallout 4, created a new character since the first dlc is suppose to come out next week. Also been delving into Subnautica and expanded my base a bit. Making separate outposts for energy collection like geothermal and solar collection.

Fallout 3 is pretty much the worst game Bethesda has made imo. -
Just had to do a god damn system restore to LAST WEEK because the latest update for my GTX 760 fucked up my computer. So kinda really pissed off. The only saving grace is everything seems fine and my save files for my games are intact.

There was an incident, a kid you not, where a bunch of idiot new yorkers came down to New Jersey during the summer, pulled a shark out of the water (It was a small shark, I think it was still an infant? I don't remember) and passed it around to take pictures with. People talk about building a wall around Mexico but I'd settle for a wall to block out New Yorkers.

I'm really into modding for Skyrim and New Vegas so Gopher became my go to for mods and stuff, haven't watched any of his stuff in months though, I should fix that.

Huh, I never knew that, that's kinda interesting.

Er isn't Jet suppose to be made from the fumes of Brahmin dung?

Warcraft 3, back when I was first getting into RTS games I thought this was a great game, later on I learned a few of it's things were a bit broken like economy and it's rather easy even on hard so I just shruged that all off then I played it again, because I remember it's story being good Ohboy, was that game's writing really bad. -

The toxicity of their communities is world wide, even Riot has gone to a very long length to stop how bad the LOL community is and is still not even close to fixing it. -

I'm going to add in another that just crossed my mind, I'll probably get some hate for it but. Final Fantasy 7. It's not a good game, at all. It's writing is pretty bad and it's combat system is rather standard classic JRPG which is fine but it's length doesn't suit it's combat. I honestly expect the re-make to get a lot of hate because people will remember how bad it's writing actually is. I feel the only reason the original got so much love was because at the time it's cutscenes and the whole "We spent a million dollars on it!" made it revolutionary and made people think because so much money went into a game it was good but nowadays? The FF7 remake is just going to be like every other modern game with pretty graphics, nothing unique even it's new combat system, is in it. -
By splitscreen are we talking multiplayer splitscreen? If so I think that's because most multiplayer games on PC are played through the internet, I can't remember a time when that wasn't the case. Even back before everyone had good connections they did lan parties. If by having a game take up two or more screens I think it's because not a lot of people do that kinda thing. I have two monitors and I wouldn't even do that as it seems like it'd get annoying fast. If it's the first then there is a game called Screen Cheat that does if it's the second I know Elite Dangerous has that feature implemented.

Just finished breakfast and watching the rest of season 8 of the X-files, I'm on episode 14 of 21. Thinking I might try Subnautica but really tempted to just play Stardew all day.

I imagine that's a common problem with musicians nowadays, I imagine with all the types of music and musicians out there making a song must be really hard.

Should add you need mods to fix it as the game was a very rushed thing and the PC version got the short end of the straw with it. Still, a really good game.

i really wanna pick up stardew valley, ive heard nothing but good things about it so far and it looks really fun idk about subnautica though Stardew Valley is super cute and fun, it's relaxing and chilling, there is no time limits or things you need to actually do like in the Harvest Moon games it's just "Pick what you want to do, do it" and you can completely ignore the main quest as it's just "get things and they unlock other things" Subnautica is alright from what I've watched streams of, the important part to remember that it's an early access game but there is so much in it already that it kinda feels like it's a release. There are bugs and features that are still being added in so I'd say maybe watch an LP or a stream of it or just wait for it to leave early access and read reviews. But from what I've seen it's a pretty solid underwater exploration game.

I recently got Stardew Valley and Subnautica, haven't touched Subnautica yet but Stardew Valley is one of my favorite games so far.

If the game is more about the struggle of trench warfare and how it can effect the human mind I might give it a look. Honestly, I'm kinda hoping it's really story deep and relies on it's writing more then graphics and combat then again, it's EA.

Stardew Valley. A cute indie title that recently came out. It's essentially Harvest Moon on PC but with more interesting characters, more quality of life improvements and generally all around great. It was made mostly by one person with some help from Chucklefish (Publishers of Starbound and Risk of Rain) and it is a quality work of art that will have you playing for a long time, I'm pretty much hooked on the game and have been binging it like crazy.

The Last of Us is a broken mess of a game in both mechanics, AI pathing and writing. It's made to look pretty and that's about it. If you want a good Dad-Daughter game set in a zombie apocalypse with actual good writing play Telltale's the walking dead. -
I'm kinda probably going to sound like one of those crazy people but I think robotics and cybernetics are the next evolution of humanity. We're already seeing an increase in reliance of technological devices and cybernetic-esque prosthetic limbs are being developed so how long until it becomes an option for regular people who simply just want a robotic limb? Eventually we'll even reach nano-bots, brain implants, artificial eye implants that work better then regular eyes, robotic organs and maybe even replace skin with synthetic flesh that can withstand numerous things. Technology is our future and we should embrace it.

I started playing Europa Univeralis 4, a really huge strategy game where you can pick a country from all around the world from the 1444 to 1821. My current playthrough is as Qing though I started as one of the Manchurian tribes. Right now I hold China, Siberia (Because Russia who is the only country that colonizes the Siberian arctic got stomped out by Denmark and Nogai back when it was Muscovy in my current save) and slowly expanding into the middle east to take over the Silk Road.

Do big name games get good ratings JUST because of big name?
BidetoftheDead replied to Meelis13's topic in Gaming in general
I never really got into gaming publications. Like, even when I did (Escapist and GameInformer) those were for different reasons. Like Loading Ready Run because they're hilarious or GameInformer's Replay series because I never really got to play a lot of the games they played so seeing these old stuff is kinda like connecting with past games. This is probably why I never take GOTYs seriously, I just get all my reviews from LPers and Streamers I like or get my gaming news from Jim Sterling. -
Coffee with caramel syrup instead of sugar. Probably still not good for me but it tastes great.
