To paraphrase the movie 'Shrek', stories are like onions. Some of them stink ('Twilight'), some of them make you cry ('Brokeback Mountain'). Some may even sprout little white hairs if left out in the sun (…???). But being serious, stories have layers. That is, stories have multiple narratives and stories occurring within the overarching storyline.
