  8. ^ I too would watch that movie. It would heartbreaking, but incredibly interesting. OT: A contraction of "The Spider Man", a heartwarming tale of Love, Loss, and a man trying to stop an agency from stealing his spider collection. Red Road.
  9. And today on Facebook:
  10. A friend of mine and fellow bass player posted this on Facebook today: "Marnin'! I've not been on here much through January aside from sending birthday wishes and an odd comment here, or there. I haven't been at work since 18th December as my body is misbehaving - my issues with my broken back & spine damage have been joined by two knackered hips, knackered legs and two feet that are perilously close to falling apart too. Not really sure why all this is happening but it sure is shitty! It's been getting progressively worse over the last year especially, and isn't likely to get better, just managed. It is very debilitating, and I am now amongst the ranks of the registered disabled. I have been off work so that my adrenaline levels drop substantially in order to let all my medication to temper the pain, actually start to do it's job, so I've not been too good physically, or mentally. As always, I have been supported throughout by my beautiful family and closest friends, and received some lovely messages asking where I am and if I'm ok. I'm in a right fucking mess physically (and the normal amount mentally!) and it's really a case of trying to manage it all effectively in order to keep me mobile, which I am working on with advice and treatment from medics and some material changes too. I'm hopefully going to be back to work this week, so my new year effectively starts today...I know it's going to hurt a lot and I'm going to look a bit funny wobbling and hobbling around. The effort it takes to do anything is ridiculous, but I am a determined bastard and I have a lot still to achieve, at home, at work and with the band...so BRING IT ON!" Part of me wonders if he'll turn into Charles Xavier..
  11. More Forum ketchup.
  12. Got the venue, straight to the merch table.
  13. I've had one of the best weekends of my life so far. Two friends of mine came all the way down from Fort William and stayed at my flat. They came to my gig on Friday and said they were completely blown away by our set. "Out of all the unsigned acts I've seen and heard, there's been two that I think should be signed, and should be big. After tonight, there's now three." The next day we walked around the city centre and had great banter. In the evening we went to see Steven Wilson at the City Hall - the main reason my friends had come down. I bumped into another old friend and we all had a good catch-up. Now, out of all of us there, I had heard the least of Steven Wilson's work (a couple of Porcupine Tree albums and some songs from his solo albums). Everything they had told me about him I agreed on based on what I'd already heard. But still I knew I wasn't prepared for tonight. By a long margin, that was the greatest concert I've ever been to. They played the whole Hand. Cannot. Erase. album, the first time I'd heard it. The visual display that played along with it..it was beautiful, heartbreaking, mesmerising. The music equally so, and the musicianship onstage was phenomenal. I of course bought the studio album, and listening to it now, it deserves the accolades it received last year. I'm starting February in a wonderful mood.
  14. First Regret - Steven Wilson
  15. I wouldn't use those words to describe it, however I can't really say what words to use as I'm not clued-up enough yet on the differences between EU and US policy. My disdain for the US isn't xenophobic, but more a strong disagreement with how the country seems* to be dealing with itself. In that sense, it's not really my business, but at the same time the US is so powerful that it wouldn't be wise not to pay attention to what happens there. On the other hand, every American I've met has been a lovely person, the opposite of what causes my critical feelings. At this point, I remember that much of what I hear about America is the negative side - the absurdity of the American Far-right; the mass-unemployment and poverty, etc. To be fair, we have our own relative version of that here in the UK. I guess you could say my disdain for the US is much the same as my disdain for my home country! As for EU V US - I wouldn't call the EU wanting the US to adopt similar policy xenophobic either. Taking a wild stab, I'd say it's more a case of "We feel they way we do things works well enough, and we feel you could benefit from following our lead". Considering 'my' government is asking for reform lest we vote on our membership, you can take from that statement what you will!
  16. Another devblog from Stress Level Zero: It's a sound idea, adding motion effects like that, but I found two worthwhile comments: Probably the PC has to take some time to do the math to figure out what movement has been made and and with that info do some more math to know how to play the sounds and stuffEarly VR games will have to deal with a lot of lag I didn't measure it, but it sounds like ~200ms lag - which is HORRIBLE. It's like you've shooten someone and the "woosh" hasn't even started. "I think this feature should be optional as I could easily see this getting annoying after a while of having it on, seeing as there appears to be quite a bit of input delay, and it seems to be pretty loud, or maybe even just a volume slider for these extra effects. But still it's cool that there are features like this being thought about."
  17. Checking in before sleep.
  18. Why would they complain about that?
