Games That Let You Kill Everyone
Reverend_UshankaCat_ replied to Heliocentrical's topic in Gaming in general
What about the Hitman games? You usually have only one or two targets that you need to kill, but nothing's stopping you from just killing every NPC on the map- after all you don't want to leave witnesses! -
Also, where's Binky The Rabbit? I don't even remember when I last saw him here...

Serious/Mature Let's Players?
Reverend_UshankaCat_ replied to TheGameIntersect's topic in Gaming in general
It's been a while since I've watched his videos, but maybe kurtjmac is who you're looking for. I remember him as more mature compared to lots of other Let's Play-ers. He's also the guy who became famous for his ongoing mission to walk to the Far Lands in Minecraft. On foot. Which will take him years. And he's supporting a charity while doing it. -
I just watched that and... holy fucking balls. Just... holy fucking balls, man. Wow. This was really friggin' good. So I second that recommendation. If you're just not feeling depressed enough, give this movie a try. And here are some more: Metropolis - German silent movie from 1927, probably best known for the art style that has inspired every sci-fi universe ever. Still holds up surprisingly well I'd say, has beautiful cinematography and a pretty good message. Blues Brothers - This is actually more of a musical, with some of the best Soul and Blues songs ever made. And great comedy too! Gone in 60 Seconds - 70's B-Movie, which contains the longest car chase in cinematic history (40+ minutes IIRC). Excellent movie, with one of the best protagonists ever. Yes, I'm talking about Eleanor.

Having just beaten the game a couple of days ago I can confidently give it a rating of... something between alright and very good/10 Two souls, alas! reside within my breast. One says that the game is nothing but repetitive combat and way too linear climbing stages. The other one however says that this is one of the most beautiful games I've seen in a while. And to me personally, that makes up for the gameplay. I'm a sucker for scenery porn, and this game has lots of exactly that. Yes, I'm the kind of guy who loves to just stare at this amazing virtual world for a while, not really caring for objectives that much. The strong points of the game are definitely the environment and atmosphere. So what about the combat? As I already mentioned, it is pretty repetitive. It can be satisfying at times, when you get a really big combo, but other than that it often feels like just another beat-em-up. The story asks a lot of ethical questions, essentially revolving around the right to forget certain memories and the abuse of that power. I'm not a very philosophical guy, but I certainly found it interesting, although it didn't captivate me that much. I can definitely see other enjoying it more. Actually, my favorite parts were those few sections where you have to get in other people's memories and remix them, by making subtle changes that eventually lead to big differences. It should have had more of those, in fact, I can imagine an entire game based on that premise alone! I like the game. I really do. I just don't like playing it that much. So can I recommend Remember Me? Yes. But keep this in mind: Don't expect too much from the actual gameplay. I explained the combat, and the climbing sections, while similar to Tomb Raider in a way, feel rather restrictive and linear. What you can expect though, is a good story full of moral dilemmas, and some of the most beautiful video game environments ever.

Banned for mispronouncing "Seuss". Don't act innocent, I heard you say it!

Damn right I love movies! And I have a few recommendations too. Hard Boiled - John Woo's last Hong Kong Action movie, and one of my all time favorites. If you like action, this is your movie. Lots of guns and explosions, but also a good story, so it's not just brainless. Taxi Driver - Classic noir story of a lone taxi driver's descent into madness. Will he become a terrorist or a vigilante? Can he ever find love? Will the streets ever be clean? Are you talkin' to me? Then who else are you talkin' to, huh? Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - Guy Ritchie is a bit like an English Tarantino, and I think this is his best movie. It has great humour, an amazing story and extremely memorable characters and lines. The Naked Gun series - Nonstop comedy. Even after watching it five times these movies are hilarious, and undoubtingly my favorite comedies! So these are a few off the top of my head, I hope this thread goes somewhere because I'm always looking for good movies to watch.

When DiRT 3 launched, everyone was horrified to see that it had Games for Windows Live DRM. You literally couldn't save the game without it. That was really shitty for those people where GFWL just didn't work (like me). All the devs (Codemasters) said was that they were working on removing it. So, a few years later, it turns out Codemasters didn't abandon the game, because suddenly they managed to remove GFWL AND to everyone who previously bought the game and had to deal with the awful DRM, they gave the "Complete Edition" of DiRT 3 for free!

Nope, that was in "Things you got recently". OT: Remember Me

I got a very strange voicemail by someone I don't know, telling me that his sailboat has holes.

6/10 - I think the delivery is what would make that line, and you don't really get it from just reading it. I read this one while writing my paper about homelessness and I found it a pretty good description: "The passersby see three more plague victims. Deep down everybody knows that nobody is telling the truth about this plague. Nobody knows whom it selects and how. And so everywhere is a fear of infection." -King: A Street Story by John Berger

Finishing up my friggin' term paper.

While tidying up my parent's kitchen recently, I found an old toy car based on a friggin' Phantom Corsair! That thing is pure madness, I love it.
