  1. I tried being vegan during my freshman college days, Salad for lunch, and vegetable soup for dinner. Didn't last long, I pigged out on chicken just after a week. I'm the only one in the family who speaks English ALL the time. It ain't much, but it's kinda something when you're in a country where English is the 2nd language. I grew up not speaking my native language (Filipino) at all, even though I can understand it well when everyone else are speaking in that language. My parents said it's because I always watch Cartoon Network as a baby instead of the local kid's program, as well as CNN and NBA when my dad's around. The one time I did try to speak Filipino was in class a decade ago, everyone made fun of me because of the way I talk. Didn't help much with my confidence in the long run I tell you. That's why I get so pissed when I see people in Facebook making fun of some people who can speak/write English well.
  2. We're on the same boat then. I'm lagging behind on my 1st draft for my thesis, and i'm TRYING to go past the 1st chapter, but my brain refused to help me. Even worse, my midterm's this week. Long story short, I'm going slightly mad. I need a little stress buster, like a certain someone's artwork
  3. You want proof that you succeeded in doing just that? That artwork you made for us last Christmas is still my desktop's wallpaper. It always eased my mind after a stressful day in school, that artwork of yours.
  4. ^*shakes head* nyaeaauuuah. I think I spaced out after seeing that.
  5. ooooh a Black Page. Good luck with the piano parts!!! I2c7oRD_6_Q
  6. Man, a good instrument in your hands, that goes beyond words. Excuse a guitarists (who don't have English as first language!) but when you said hollowbody bass I first thought about one of the big ones, like in a symphonic orchestra - is that what you're talking about? I remember the very first time I got my hands on my ESP flying V. Looks and black glistening finish aside, it was love from first power chord. @Binky: Ooh a fretless! Always wanted one after trying out this acoustic fretless bass, I think it was an Ibanez. It had a wonderful sound, like a double bass. Any chance we can see that beauty of a bass soon? @Amadeus: When he said hollowbody, he was referring to the acoustic guitar-like design, albeit with pickups and an f-hole, or something like this: While we're on guitars, you can really tell you're using a good guitar and amp when you're improvising riffs after riffs like there's no tomorrow. I was visiting this shop that sells 2nd-hand guitars made in Japan just awhile ago, tried out this Les Paul knockoff with a Line 6 amp, and I fell in love. OT: Feeling rather restless, after a rather exhausting day of school. Could use a little sleep.
  7. VR for 1st person shooters will be a difficult experience imo, especially for fast-paced, competitive FPS. For slow-paced RPG's FPS hmm... maybe, it just depends on the game I guess. That aside, I would love to experience VR. The level of immersion you can get with the game you're playing is already enough to catch my interest. I'm not that hyped though, as I believe it'll be a long ways' off before i will get to experience the Rift. The pricing is the reason for me.
  8. I can hear that in Ross's voice as i'm reading this. I want to take a break from school for at least a year or a semester, maybe do a part-time job for a while, then go back. Unfortunately, I don't think it's not much of a practical option here. I'm starting to lose motivation now.
  9. Playing some Eagles tunes on the guitar. The news I just heard got me depressed.
  10. The Sims 3. Getting it for PC was a breeze, but with Mac? Good luck. I got lucky when I saw ONE good torrent for the Mac version, not so much with the expansions. Still, it's a good relaxing game.
  11. Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 9/10 Well, this is a long time coming, but better late than never. Most of my doubts about the movie were gone before I reached the credits. The story was engaging enough for me, speaking as a recent fan. The ending itself got me excited for Episode VIII.
  12. Wait, Jeb's fiance was a member here?
  13. Spotted this last night after watching Star Wars with some friends. We were also talking about David Bowie on the way to the theater:
  14. ^I don't like how this month turned out. As if David Bowie's demise isn't enough
  15. And Natalie Cole. The fact that we lost several wonderful musicians in their own right at such a short space of time amazes and saddens me.
  16. I'd be fairly surprised if someone i know in class would know other Bowie songs aside from Under Pressure, and that The Man Who Sold The World was not originally from Nirvana, but those songs are good for when you're starting to get into his music.
  17. y-JqH1M4Ya8 Last song I heard from Bowie before he died.
  18. I've finished GTA San Andreas in four ways: With cheats ('06), with cheats and trainers ('08), with trainers only ('10) and without any cheats or trainers ('15)....and I have yet to reach 100% (I made it to 90% on my recent playthrough, i'll get back to that at a better time) I got into binaural beats recently. They work at times, I'm planning to keep on listening to them.
  19. Two words: Goddammit Mac. I wanted to play the Sims 2, yet its Mac version doesn't support the Yosemite OS. I tried emulating the Windows version through Crossover, no luck. The fucking autorun.exe and setup.exe would just open and close immediately. That never happened when i'm emulating other games like GTA San Andreas.
  20. Well it was said that EA DID try to buy Valve for a billion. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-sought-to-buy-valve-for-1-billion-report/1100-6394880/ http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/ea-almost-bought-valve-for-1-billion/ Gabe Newell's response to that was that Valve would rather disintegrate than sellout. His quote: It could be doable, once the majority of the gamer community starts waving their middle fingers against EA, and EA's experiencing their personal Video Game Crash, but that's going to be a long way's off.
  21. Happy Frickin' Birthday too: Jek Jek Roo and Epsilon!!!!
  22. So someone emailed Marc Laidlaw about the state of HL3, and Laidlaw responded by saying that he can't answer as he has retired from Valve after 18 years. Here's the link of said email: http://imgur.com/a/EfHC5 http://kotaku.com/marc-laidlaw-who-helped-write-the-half-life-series-and-1751820671?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow Any thoughts about this?
  23. Summing up my gaming history in three stages: When I started out in Steam = Game-ready PC, can't afford game in library (I used to borrow DVD's from friends), a lot of time to play. Around the time TF2 became free = Game-ready PC, a handful of free to plays in library, a whole lotta time to play. Nowadays = PC died on me (currently on a Mac), a good amount of games (thanks to Steam cards and Steam Sales), but so little time to play.
  24. Counter Strike 1.3. Saw my brother and cousins play that game on a PC as a kid. It was impressive because I never saw a PC game before that (I used to think video games are just for PlayStations and Gameboys at the time, and that the PC is for boring work stuff). I also used to call CS as Half Life: Counter Strike because HL was in that PC, but they never played it.
