  1. Watching Babylon 5.
  2. There's just so many I could choose. Given that the title of the thread specifically says 'game' singular... Now, I freely admit that Doom isn't perfect. The mazes can get frustrating, the arrow-key control scheme adds loads of fake difficulty, and it's dated in other ways (some more obvious than others), but I will always go back to Doom in some form or another. It's amazing that a game from 1993 still beats out modern triple-A games with budgets that could end poverty, but to me, it always will. A lot of what I love about Doom has to do with the community. There are still people updating the engine and making new maps, ranging from more of the same to incredible feats of game design like Deus Vult II and Back to Saturn X, not to mention Brutal Doom. There's also something about the 'one main against the world' narrative that I can relate to on a personal level. So, that's why Doom is my favourite game ever. As for what I think is objectively the best game, that's a hard question. Probably Half-Life 2.
  3. I don't know if it counts as 'obscure', but I'd like you to take a look at Race Drivin'. Not necessarily the arcade version- it got ported to a number of systems, including the original Game Boy, which is what I've got it on. Another GB title that would be perfect for the Game Dungeon is Monster Max]. I remember playing it as a kid, but not much else beyond that.
  4. Don't the soldiers use the same kind of HEV-derives armour that Shepard uses in Opposing Force, or is Shepard a special case?
  5. Well, I've been away on a university open day, so I've been playing Tyrian on my Kindle.
  6. Just dug out my old Game Boy Colour and played a few minutes of Link's Awakening.
  7. Keldian- Vinland
  8. I like The Sims, but I don't know if I should get Sims 4 yet. In theory, I don't mind the cut features- I never really used pools and Create-A-Style very much anyway, and toddlers just suck. I should know, I was one All things considered, it doesn't seem like a bad game, but it's probably not worth what they're charging for it.
  9. X3: Terran Conflict. Kind of hard to get into, but by Picard, it is worth it.
  10. One idea I'm interested in is some kind of interactive biopic, where the player is faced with the same choices as some historical figure and asked what they would do. There'd be multiple endings, with the 'best' endings not neccesarily being what actually happened.
  11. I really want to get Xenonauts.
  12. i meant the part that steam actually downloads- thats more of concern than unpacked and ready-to-play game Yeah... around 40 gigs... I installed it from the disk, but I still had to wait another day to play it because it needed a day-one patch D: If Wolf3D had needed a day-one patch, Id would've been fed to the trilobytes.
  13. Kerbal Space Program, because SPACE.
  14. Original or remake?
  15. Mass Effect 2. It's still awesome.
  16. X-COM: UFO Defence. Pretty much just ARGH.
  17. optimusjamie3453 I don't have any multiplayer games on there, but I will be finally getting round to Mass Effect 3 before long.
  18. The Inbetweeners 2. Hilarious, if a bit gross at times.
  19. Thanks, Ross!
  20. CIA Analysis Of The War Of 1812 Finds Same Failures That Led To 9/11 I'm not sure what to take from this. What I'm leaning towards is that this kind of surprise attack is unpredictable. Whilst in retrospect, you could look at what was going on before the event and wonder why someone didn't see it coming, that's called the hindsight bias. Ultimately, I think it comes from not wanting to believe that a disaster on that scale can happen. We see this all the time on smaller scales: "Why should I look both ways before crossing? The chances of being run over are-" SPLAT. What do you think?
  21. Agree with Pinky on the two above. The Raid: Probably one of the best action films ever made. Aliens: Still my second-favourite film. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: Still my first-favourite film. Also, it's a TV show rather than a film, but I'd definitely recommend checking out The Day Today.
  22. I found this pretty awesome of Battlefield by Blind Guardian. If it sounds familiar, the song (not the 8-bit version) was used in Robot Unicorn Attack: Heavy Metal.
  23. I could probably do it next July-August. I live in the UK, which means I won't have to pay £1235861313218314 for a plane ticket- I can just drive over and get a ferry across the Channel. It'd be a hell of a drive, though, especially if it's in Poland.
  24. I did try some other mods, but Discovery had a nice community. Had. That's all I'm saying.
  25. Yeah, I played on the Discovery mod on and off until around October last year.
