I mentioned money from fundraising, and even though I was wrong that he was going to say something about losing it, he did mention it so I think I was closest.

So you're purposely ignoring facts in order to live in your little dream world where a bloody revolution will make everything wonderful.

I don't understand why people keep expecting the title of the series to randomly get a "2" if Ross ever gets to Half-Life 2. It's a continuation of the series, it'll just be the next number after episode whatever Freeman's mind for the original Half-Life game ends on.
-
It's kind of funny how I mentioned Ross making over 15 grand over the internet and someone immediately thought he did something on Kickstarter.
-
Just the fact that I don't care for it. Sorry, not good was the wrong phrase, really.

0/10 I don't even want to know what that is, just get rid of it.
-
5/10 Not good but it doesn't annoy me at least.

Still needs to be separation of church and state, I think. Any action that favors a religion in any way other than to protect people's rights to their personal freedom of religion just should not happen. But that's just my own interpretation of the Establishment Clause.

I already had all of them downloaded but I'll grab that torrent so I can be a seeder.

How in the hell could any display of the Ten Commandments be considered secular?

Oh man that's what happened at the end of the Underland Chronicles. Too bad we never see what comes of that since it was at the end of the series.

Having beat Borderlands 2 I really want to play the first one. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. I already own a lot of games that I haven't played yet.

I beat Borderlands 2 for the first time. I'm currently playing Half-Life 2 for the second time ever (thinking of some jokes and possible callbacks Freeman's Mind could have), oh and I just got an amazing game for my 3DS called Samurai Warriors: Chronicles. It's made by W-Omega Force so, you know, basically Dynasty Warriors. On a handheld. And it plays really well, surprisingly enough.

Freeman's Mind 2 - episode 56 Actually I'm expecting some blog post about losing all the money.

Here's the thing - and you can apply it to just about anything in life. Your sexuality, preferences, things you enjoy in general - are all normal. At least, if you treat them like they're normal, the people around you likely will as well. The issue is when people want to be special snowflakes and act like being gay or liking a certain show as if it makes them different from everyone else in some way. Plenty of people (such as myself) are bi or happen to like a show about colorful ponies. If the subject even comes up, I treat it like a completely normal thing and others tend to as well. I mentioned being bi in my health class the other day and my teacher pointed out (later, just to me) that only one person had turned their heads. Now, there is a problem with gender identity. It's something that's not been fully realized that some people strongly identify as a gender separate from their biological sex. It's not a difficult concept, but it's severely underexposed to society as a whole. It's embarrassing enough to mistake a woman for a long-haired man, but then you learn that "she" identifies as male, so wait, which pronoun would be right to use in that situation? I feel like the whole issue could be resolved with the existence of a gender-neutral pronoun that would be appropriate to use for a single individual. However, as it is, people just don't make the distinction of the fact that gender and biological sex are in fact two separate things. And I myself find it odd and disorienting, but the problem for me is that I see my own gender as a non-issue. I wouldn't care if people thought I was and identified me as female, but the fact that I am biologically male and don't have powerful emotions about my gender causes me to identify as male out of pure simplicity. Obviously transgender is a bit of a tangent to the topic, I wanted to point out that particular exception to my "treat it like it's normal and others likely will as well" guideline. But yeah, all in all, I'd say sexuality is a non-issue and that in order to move forward, the various societies that haven't yet (looking at you, United States), need to realize this.

Aww but that's not as fun as my convoluted interpretation! Besides there are a LOT of points where he talks to people and they don't even remotely respond to him AT ALL. I seriously think it just makes more sense for him to not realize that he's mute and the show is just his perception of reality. He's shown to be pretty insane as it is, it's not that much of a leap for him to think he's talking when he actually doesn't. Well, I like to think he has a voice since it's Ross's voice And I guess I won't be asking Ross "Hey, is Freeman really talking or just thinking he's talking?" And Ross will roll his eyes and say: "How do YOU think?!" well, really I dunno! I suppose Ross would have the final say, if he was to have a say at all. Might be better to just let people interpret it however they want.

You can donate any time, the event was asking for enough for a specific computer component rather than the typical "money for food" donations. Yeah but it's so much more fun for him to get tons of money all at once rather than the occasional donation here or there. I like being able to see that number rise as a bunch of fans come together to support their ruthless most beloved leader.

Today was a good day to spend going through the entire past posts by Ross that are on this site. Everything is archived from back at the beginning, when there was no site and everything was on blogspot or whatever. Anyway I watched an old episode or two and did notice some irritating lines that moved visibly with the camera, which I believe the 720p would have helped with a bit. I'm not saying the whole HD thing is worth it because I don't really think so, but hey as long as Ross is able to make these videos without too much more pain by doing them in HD, I'm happy to utilize the feature. There's also the fact that I really just don't care for the video part of the series at all. I've ripped the audio from the videos of the episodes and have it on my iPod as a sort of comedy podcast sort of thing. Speaking of which I should grab this new episode once the download link is up. I had a few good laughs while watching this. Don't remember what exactly had been so funny but for reading through pretty much all of Ross' life over the past several years I'm just happy to see things are going well for him. I feel like this whole "making 17 grand after asking for $500" thing makes up for all the pain and torture he went through for The Tunnel. Actually it would take like 2 or 3 more donation campaigns like this to truly make up for it, considering how long it took, but still.

When he was saying stuff about ties to that one guy, I would have stopped and look at him at least. So yeah, I think this is just Gordon not realizing or remembering the fact that he's a mute. You can talk to other people all you want but if you're actually mute they're not going to respond properly. Plus your perception is your reality. If Gordon thinks he said something and someone responds a different way, his Mind could remember it as him saying something different that makes more sense to the way a person reacted. We're seeing Gordon's reality in this show. Not our own reality or the reality of the other scientists or the reality of the soldiers. Gordon's. "Hey you. Want to be my human shield?" "Shut up!" "Just a suggestion..." "If Gordon thinks he said something and someone responds a different way, his Mind could remember it as him saying something different that makes more sense to the way a person reacted." Or it could be the other way around. He interprets them saying something that would make more sense for what he thinks he says to them.

He's a man of few words because he doesn't realize he's a mute. Freeman's Mind is giving us a first-person view of the way Gordon pictures himself within the world, but he either doesn't realize or chooses to ignore the fact that in reality he's a mute and doesn't say anything. It would explain why his "mind" as called by the title of the show, is garbled when underwater and why people don't give him a chance to speak nor respond to him when he says stuff. #overanalyzingamachinimaftw Well, if the episode production slows down again when Ross gets to HL2 (if he does), we might actually know something about the future of the franchise by the time he gets to Episode 2. And if it's the news that they just don't dare to do another Half-Life game. Otherwise, congratulations on reaching and surpassing your goal, Ross! I hope you will be able to enjoy life without existential threat(s) for a while now. I do wonder whether his reaction can be somehow compared to the one shown in this video: Valve when asked about HL3: Lol I imagine that was exactly Ross' reaction.

It is true that the level design becomes less mockable (outside of the myriad of exploding barrels), but I feel at least base HL2 has plenty of content for Freeman to comedically react to. *The Combine's "dictatorship" being inefficient as hell. Their police force is more stupid than the soldiers, they can only control outer city areas through biological attacks. They're completely incompetent at stopping Gordon........... hell, Kleiner is able to run a lab in the middle of freaking City 17 without issue. *The resistance views him like the messiah, for doing things that he only vaguely remembers (He's been stumbling through the game, pretty much just randomly completing the objectives), furthermore they talk about how great he is, then send him from one dangerous area to the next. Also, if we've learned anything from Freeman's musings, he doesn't view the Black Mesa staff very highly. So I can't imagine he'll be enthused to find out that he's still taking orders from them. *When he finds out the Combine's teleportation is "string-based", That probably won't sit well. *Ravenholm is entirely silly, to the point where it almost feels out of context with the rest of the world. *When Noriko "drops" Freeman into a horde of antlions, and that guy who's broken up about the death of laszlo, "the finest mind of his generation" The episodes are a bit more strained for material (Outside of Magnusson of course). Similarly Lost Coast could be a one off, but i've no clue what he would say there. Base HL2 should provide plenty of comedy though. HL2 would definitely be great for Freeman's Mind. Once we get into the episodes though, we'll just be reminded how there's still no Half-Life / Episode 3. I would be interested in seeing his reactions to Alyx, though.

Very much this. It'll be good for those of us who weren't able to donate this time around but may be in a better situation next time. I've been following Freeman's Mind for probably about 2 years, myself and I'm looking forward to plenty more. Hopefully Half-Life will come to some sort of conclusion by the time you catch up with them all (assuming you continue into and through Half-Life 2).

I don't know, I literally haven't played past the point I'm at in many years. You're not too far now... You're close to Xen, and at that point it's only another hourish of play time, if memory serves.
