  1. When I said dominated, I meant majority (even if by a slim minority). I was also trying to prove a point with BTG and his claim that 95% of the media is in leftist control. Additionally, your new comments now give me a better understanding of what exactly is going on. When a slim majority has some control, that is not domination, that is barely keeping on to power. As for mainstream media, I would have to pull up the studies from somewhere, but I do know many scholars have proof that most mainstream American media (such things as Fox news excepted) are quite far to the left of the public. And quite frankly, I think anyone who really watches the mainstream news would be inclined to think something to this effect as well. On a side note, I am writing to my Senator this week, complaining about how the US is arming "moderate" Syrian rebels. We just can't seem to stay out of the middle east. Though I know it won't do a damned thing.
  2. Are you kidding me? America is dominated by conservatives. If the extreme left control 95% of the media, how can an organization like Fox News attract so many viewers, and become "mainstream"? Name three major leftist radio commentators, for that matter. America is not fully "dominated" by anyone. You have CNN (fairly liberal) and MSNBC (very liberal) as two cable channels against Fox news already. Add on top of that the "big 3" original nightly news show, and you have an uninspiring picture if you are a right wing person. If conservatives "dominated" America, like you said, then why are states gradually legalizing same sex marriage, and why do the Democrats still control the Presidency and Senate (sure, it's not total control, but it's not nothing either)? Maybe I can't name you three radio commentators, but that is just a matter of media. How about TV or movies, or print/web media? Bill Maher, Ariana Huffington, and Michael Moore, to name a few? As for Fox News, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/27/frank-rich-fox-news-new-york_n_4672800.html Last I made a glance, Fox only had around 1 million viewers now. In a nation of 310 million.
  3. I notice you're saying that in a way that would imply to most that the left doesn't do that... In fact they do it far more, and far worse than the right ever could. (95% of mass media is controlled by the extremest left) I think both do it equally, it's just that the more liberal oriented people dominate all the "mainstream" establishments, so more people share their views than the right wing ones. It's really hard to be pragmatic, or thoughtful whenever discussing identity in this nation, especially now a days. It's always a rush to paint the "other" as evil. There is little communication. I think if we allow this sentiment to keep building up whilst the economy declines, we will eventually be faced with some pretty bad (and violent) situations.
  4. Thank you for the info. Can you tell me please what sort of notice did you get and more or less what time? 5. Yeah this is pretty much my viewpoint as well. In an ideal political system in America, I would have it that the politicians would deal with economics first before moving on to social issues, so that way the most pressing issues are solved (the issues of bread and butter, not sexuality or skin color, even though I have my own ideas on those two). On top of that, as Fareed Zakaria has said, when the middle class was strong in America, our politics was far more moderate. Problem is, politicians somewhere around 1994 thought they could exploit racial/religious divisions in America to win easy points (they were always doing this, but it seems in the 1990s the "culture wars" started to pass all other issues), instead of focusing on concrete economic policies that would benefit us all. I think it produces a destructive cycle. You try and win the cheap points by focusing on social, not economic issues first. Since public attention to the fine points of economics is diverted, the government and big corporations begin messing with the system to gear it towards better self gain, slowly degrading the middle class in the process. As the middle class declines, the politics becomes more radical (I call it the urban hipster-rural white trash dichotomy, you may call it something else ), however by this point people become too focused on social issues, and can't really do anything meaningful in regards to trade policy, wages, etc. Ross, you once said that the US might end up like Argentina if we keep on our current path. I am more inclined towards a USSR style disintegration (maybe later today I will flesh out a full post on why I think that). I think tensions in America exploded exponentially *under* Obama (key word, *under*, not necessarily because of) and I think at this point every group, except moderate middle class people (of any race or religion or sexuality), are trying to change society radically.
  6. Thanks! It's great that people share their positive experience of MCBM I have an ambition to make the next epiosde longer and I hope it works. I still don't know how Ross makes the 10 mins episodes... it's a lot of talking to yourself and listening to your own voice to a point where you get disgusted and don't even know if it's funny or not The charms of making voiceover shows... And a question for subscribers (I assume there are some here ) Did you get a message there is actually a new epiosde? It didin't work for Ross this time and I've seen this happening to some Youtubers sometimes... I didn't receive any messages. This new Youtube is terrible, the videos are always stopping for no reason, the subscription notifications are broken. Damn you Google, I miss 2006 Youtube EDIT: I actually did receive some sort of notice, but it came a bit late.
  7. I would say a lot of people (of all races, left wing and right wing) have a lot of money to make by exploiting racial tensions amongst Americans. Though I honestly think tensions would still exist even without them. It is just made much worse by agitators. Well, of course race is economical. What southern Dixiecrat/Republican extremist wouldn't say "I might be poor, but I'm not poor like blacks are" or "I earned my money, not like those Jews!" or even "At least I don't collect welfare, like those damn illegals". The far right (aka KKK, Nazis, fascists) like to add to tension, and the far left (communists) try to influence the oppressed to rise up. Thankfully, these nutjobs are pretty much harmless. I wouldn't say harmless. I think the Tea Party has an angry white person streak in it, and that has been gaining in recent years. Conversely, there are some black commentators who still act like America is some sort of white supremacist segregation state.
  8. Crisis in the Kremlin!
  9. I would say a lot of people (of all races, left wing and right wing) have a lot of money to make by exploiting racial tensions amongst Americans. Though I honestly think tensions would still exist even without them. It is just made much worse by agitators.
  10. Not bad. I find it amusing the part where the guard comments "in the barrel"
  11. I won't comment too much on the race tension issue (I live in the US as well, and I can say it *does* exist), but I will say globalization has caused economic trends, such as increasing economic inequality, trends towards over specialization, etc, that reduce economic well being for many people, helping to give a breeding ground for radical action.
  12. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/kiev-protests-two-dead-ukraine-edges-towards-civil-085730039.html#NU04CJa Read this today, and it got me thinking... Hypothesis: The end of the Cold War alliance system, coupled with increasing globalization, and slowing economic growth have all exacerbated racism and nationalism across the world. The process we are seeing right now is the beginning of the end for the modern world order. Examples: Eastern Asia: Japan-China maritime disputes have flared massively in the past five years. Recently a USN and PLAN ship nearly collided, displaying China's aggressive behavior. Chinese leaders often feel pressured by nationalism to push the situation to the limit. The Americas: Racial tensions in the US (there have been some nasty violent incidents lately). Europe: Ukraine. Nationalism in Eastern Europe and even some rambling of Nordicism in certain sectors of Russian society. Middle East: Civil war in Syria, revolutions in Egypt. Islamic radicals preaching ever more violent doctrines. What do you think? Do you think national sentiments are about to explode, or not?
  13. This episode was pretty good. Felt a bit more energetic than the last one in my opinion. The part about sending the stray dog's into combat is also classic Freeman (which I like!).
  14. Thank you Tsar! I think you could notice some mannierisms already, although my formula is not exactly like Ross's and I'd say you need to be alert I think being Polish female makes it in some cases easier to get to American audience I got together with Ross somehow and he's American Thank you again for the support, the epsiode is almost finished. Black Mesa offers so much more to explore before the explosion and I'm making shorter epiosdes for now so I hope you can go on without shooting aliens for one or two more parts. There was so much to see and I love to explore games. Stay tuned in next 24-48hrs.... Sure, being female attracts them into the video in the first place, but make sure they actually listen to what you are saying The only other thing I would add.... are you trending more towards a let's play type deal, or a "mind" series? The videos sounds like a let's play right now. Also, the mannerisms are that of any good Slavic person, kind of being a screwball I mean
  15. Oh... yeah... that... F*ck the American government... I really need to keep up with my civil liberties issues...... Granted, the guy seems kinda borderline conspiracy theorist (then again, I used to listen to Alex Jones, and even considered joining a militia), none the less, some concerns over overbearing government are legitimate. Especially since 9/11. http://www.theamericanconservative.com/obama-announces-mild-surveillance-reforms/ Now, while this is more about surveillance issues, maybe small (OK, *very* small!) steps are being forced along to finally restore some sense of pre 9/11 normalcy when it comes to cyberspace and civil liberties?
  16. Figured since the topic has a recent post in it again, I would throw my two cents in. It's actually a pretty good series, though it took some time to pick up (like freeman's mind). I think a large part of it is finding the mannerisms, for instance, Dr.Freeman sounds incredibly self centered and slightly crazy. Making random comments and connections between things. To be fair, being Polish and female (not saying it's your fault!) might make it slightly harder to click with a mostly American audience , but I am pretty sure you will find your own way as time goes on. At any rate, I subscribed and will be watching out for how it all turn's out. Seems like it is headed in the right direction.
  17. I applaud Y's efforts. Trolling is a disease of the Internet, a cancer. Should I take that as support for Google + then?
  18. Well, I hope the mod's/admins take a look at this and provide their opinion on the viability of doing this. Other than that, there is nothing more to be said.
  19. I am not sure what forum client AF uses, but from my many years of experience of managing forums, it generally involves little to no coding to set up tittles and reputation. Depending of course, on the client.
  20. Maybe ask Ross & Co. to bring them back if you miss them so much?
  21. http://youtu.be/mpgvUNxGTNU I really really like both the movie and the soundtrack. I can relate to the film since I live only about a couple hundred miles from the filming location, and live in a climate and landscape almost exactly the same. I can just sometimes play this in my head when I am out on my bike or hiking.
  22. Pretty much agree on most of those points, though I am slightly concerned about how the internet went from a nice add on to become a basic thing needed to function in modern society. Not saying that is necessarily bad, but I think we should all give some thought at least if that is really the best thing for us all. I agree on the youtube part. And in typical me fashion, I am too fucking lazy to install adblocker (though I should look into it) I agree on all points here (I have been watching youtube since about 2006, made my first account in 2007, never made any videos though). I think the internet becoming more commercialized was inevitable, and is not all bad. I mean, we would not really have a lot of websites without the profit motive (Imagine what internet would be like in the USSR, if it still existed...). I also agree, that all things (empires, ideologies, people, *websites*) meet their end. As for a new site rising.... I am a super pessimist, so I don't see that happening soon, though I imagine eventually someone will get around to it. I guess things got generally better, and true, I don't miss dial up, but it was kind of cool back in the days when the internet was really more a subculture-y than mainstream. Though, I was generally referring to the internet of 8 or 9 years ago, not 14 or 15. (since all these quotes are slowing down my browser): @Alyxx Throne Content ID does suck. @Psychotic Ninja (seriously man, I think you need to look into a new career if you are really psychotic ) Will watch later, though judging from the title and the topic, I generally don't like government in the internet. BTW, Hi NSA
  23. Does AF IRC still work? If so, what is the channel name? The linked client does not seem to work.
  24. Letter to Google + Dear Google: Why do you force me to use my full real name? What is the rationale? Remember when they had the Police Officer's come to the school, and talk to the 5 year old kids (god, they grow fast now!) about internet safety. The first thing they tell you is to not put personal information out there... And what are you forcing us to do? Those small town cops aren't happy, Google. But that's not the only problem. What about self esteem? Have you ever stopped to consider this?: Billy M signs up to Youtube to comment on Power Rangers YTP videos. Billy M has to enter his full name. He knows the small town cops told him to be careful, but he though he could trust Google. So, he watches the Power Ranger's YTP, chopped full of bad sex jokes, cheap voice splicing, and OVER 9000. Meanwhile, Billy's teacher, Mrs. Y, is trying to find an educational video on Youtube, when she stumbles upon Billy's comment on this video. Mrs. Y the next day in class pulls Billy aside and tells him that he needs to stop watching the videos, and her opinion of here once favorite student declines drastically. So Billy tries to make it up, trying ever harder, but Mrs. Y knows the truth. Finally, Billy cannot live with the pain of not being a teacher's pet, and KILLS HIMSELF. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT GOOGLE? SUICIDE?! Or what about if person Y makes a video, and person X, who he knows in real life, makes a trolly comment. Y gets mad, breaks into the local firestation, and steals a chainsaw (not that logger BS either, we're talking composite bladed Firefighter quality saw), and proceeds to X's house to.... do the deed. GEEZ GOOGLE +, YOU HAVE JUST CAUSED SUICIDE, MURDER, AND ANGRY COPS. Please discontinue your attempt to be the next facebook immediately. -Angry Customer
