What was your first Valve game?
rairii replied to VeryShyPerson's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
HL1, Followed by TF2. I didn't play HL2 until years after because my computer somehow couldn't handle it. -
I consider season 3 to be irredeemable, it was too short and the best episodes it had to offer weren't really as interesting as what we got in 2 and 4. I'm generally not a fan of season 5 but it did have some real diamonds in it like Amending Fences, Brotherhooves Social, and The Hooffields and McColts.
-
It's funny, in the old days season 1 was my favorite and you couldn't tell me differently. I think part of me was just nostalgic for the culture the fandom had in season 1. When I picked the show back up that was immediately replaced by seasons 2 and 6. Well, not immediately, I had to watch them first. I think the only seasons I didn't really enjoy at all were 3 and 5.

It ended after 3 or 4 movies

Looks like it's finally coming to an end this Saturday. Binge watched everything that I missed and I'm gonna be catching that last episode live this Saturday for old time's sake. Kinda bittersweet all things considered. I'll certainly miss it.

The environmental changes of a cooked world.
rairii replied to Eshanas's topic in Civilization Problems
Nobody's saying scientific research is infallible, scientific research is what gave us such botched concepts as eugenics which served to inspire such tragedies as the holocaust. And in fact, speaking of scientific research which is completely fallible, much of the climate research leading in to the 90s and 2000s was funded by oil tycoons to dispute previous findings that climate change was caused by humans and would eventually lead to global catastrophe. These are the same oil tycoons that fund propaganda against climate action that is featured prominently in conservative media. None of this addresses the core fact that you source your claims with nothing more than the vague notion that you "heard it from a scientist". This isn't the first, second, or even tenth time you've spent your time and energy making conspicuously false claims and insulting those who'd contradict you without bothering to prove them wrong or prove yourself right. You NEVER take responsibility when something you claim is clearly false and you NEVER defend yourself when you're truly convinced that you're right. You have an incredibly narcissistic attitude when it comes to this sort of thing. You can't be wrong but you can't be bothered to tell people why either, this always happens. 11 times we got it wrong vs. the thousands of times we got it right. People with agendas do fund and conduct research but it's exceedingly rare that bullshit gets passed off as truth considering the scrutiny placed upon published research. Well, at least, people who are clever enough to not take seriously the hoax that vaccines and autism are linked are typically clever enough to tell when they're being bullshitted. -

The environmental changes of a cooked world.

If you think I'm taking what you're saying out of context then you can bother to explain what you actually meant. Simply pointing out that I'm taking something you're saying out of context without saying exactly how is a cop-out and doesn't actually prove that I am, and so far it looks like you're rejecting the idea that humans are solely responsible for global warming (which by and large, they are.) Scientists have the credit and qualification to speak on such matters, not to mention their findings have to be reviewed by OTHER people who are accredited and qualified to speak on such matters before they're published and accepted as fact. Sorta comes off as you equating scientific research with something some dude said on a forum with no credit, no qualification, no sources, only personal anecdote. -

"I agree that global warming is happening, just not that it's mostly man made" is a common and thinly veiled form of climate change denial, and "we need to get off this planet" is a denial of responsibility to take action. There is no planet B. We need to take action RIGHT NOW or we all die. -

Interesting how judging by the Dark Souls map files, parts of certain areas seem to reveal bits and pieces that don't exist in the final product. From Firelink Shrine, for example, you can go up to the part of Undead Burg just before the first bonfire (where all the fight clubs and such are held), and you can find that there's a building at the top of the ramp and scaffolding at the base of it that aren't actually there once you reach it. -

WoW Classic After taking a break and getting some social interaction and taking care of myself, I'm back on the grind to 60.

Infinite HP door, and you're REALLY underestimating HL physics. Explosive boosting is and always has been as powerful as the video shows. I can't personally explain why the dude seems to have infinite grenades but I CAN explain that he's essentially playing the game in retrograde, which means by that point he would've used the infinite HP door and gotten every weapon.

imagine the last post being a shitty boomer comic

That's just normal half-life physics, though.

WoW classic. Burnout is starting to hit me extremely hard, honestly.

It's less that he didn't want to be helped out (I figure in such situations it's best to just say so outright) and more that his experience isn't consistent with how the game is supposed to work. To give you some background, BTG does have a history of blatantly lying or getting information wrong to prove a point, and this isn't his first time justifying his criticisms of certain games with inconsistent personal accounts. That, and he seems to take any genuine attempt to help him out with something as a personal attack. At least, that's what it felt like in this thread.
-
My doubts are relevant because it takes either an IQ of below 60 or being a compulsive liar to claim the controls for KSP are non-functional.
-
My doubts aren't irrelevant, I'm trying to help or at least figure out what issues you're having. And you're not supposed to use thrust vectoring in space, that's what RCS and reaction wheels are used for. Thrust vectoring and control surfaces for takeoff and atmospheric control, RCS and reaction wheels for when you're in a vacuum.
-
I doubt you're using an engine strong enough to control your ship with thrust vectoring if you're having that much trouble with it. You shouldn't use RCS thrusters to maneuver your ship during takeoff/in atmosphere anyway, that's what thrust vectoring and control surfaces are for. Do you have any fins or winglets? Are you using a small engine with a big ship? Are you using an engine that doesn't even have thrust vectoring? Show us an example of what you're trying to build and having trouble with.
-
They're all functional and extremely easy to learn, you probably just never took the time to learn them. QWEASD for pitch/yaw/roll are the controls the game is shipped with, along with shift and ctrl to throttle up and down, z and x for full throttle or minimum throttle respectively, and docking and rendezvous are more a matter of understanding which burns to make and where. It's got a learning curve but the controls ARE functional and don't really need improvement.

All of that being said, I'm very excited for it! The features apparently include proper interstellar travel and interplanetary bases which I've been long waiting for and am super excited to play around with.
