  1. Alternatively: He could be running Steam in offline mode and just not getting the updates, though sometimes it just makes you login anyways, so I'm not sure.
  2. Huh, I thought a metric fuckton was like 1000 shitloads.
  3. I thought it was in the same category as a metric fuckton. Anyways I'm patient.
  4. How long is a VALVe time?
  5. I want a postcard from Xen.
  6. Going through recent Garry's Mod poses I made.
  7. Do they have good mail service in Xen?
  8. Organizing bookmarks and thinking it was a very, VERY bad idea to take my meds on an empty stomach.....
  9. My few attempts at modelling didn't go very well so I'm not too qualified to advise much on the matter, but if you're leaning towards Blender take a look at this.
  10. Someone did make a HL2DM map. It's sort of goofy though (for some reason, I doubt the real Valve HQ has a Portal testchamber inside). I played with it a bit in Garry's Mod.
  11. Getting ready for bed.
  12. Yeah I did. They added a download link.
  13. You can also try adding -dxlevel 80 to the advanced launch settings. Never know.
  14. Anyways I was trying to read an article on a website and it wanted me to do a stupid survey question, "how many days in the last month blah blah blah blah...." The answer form didn't accept my carefully crafted string of four-letter words as an answer ("that's not a number") so I just keysmashed in some absurd number like 4343282348348234. It complained it was too large. I put in -10. It accepted that. The article wasn't worth it.
  15. Other things to try: Shader detail in advanced video options. mat_specular 0 in console - it'll most likely lock up the game for a few seconds, just wait it out.
  16. Wondering if its going to stop raining soon.
  17. Money problems are annoying.
  18. Organizing files on my computer.
  19. Seen them before. If I recall correctly, there's a few things you can add to htaccess.
  20. The factory part is in maps c4a1c - c4a1e. There's still an a & b map before it with the floating island area. (Interesting thing: Since the Gonarch's Lair maps are c4a2 and Interloper is c4a1, it's a reasonable assumption that the order of chapters got switched around at some point in development.)
  21. For some reason I doubt that's the biggest security issue that needs to be worried about. Anyways, I don't think having an SSL certificate on this site would help the hapless user who clicks on the wrong link in Google and gets immediately redirected to another site. (I've stumbled on them before when searching for hard-to-find freeware.) I was supposed to be a website developer. I managed one for some years before giving it up on account of my mental state. Never had a security breach or anything like that, and not because nobody attempted it. Site didn't have SSL. I'd hope I'd remember a thing or two about website security. Keep things updated, file and directory permissions, htaccess & php.ini, good backups. Other things too, but I don't remember things very well and I'm tired. Probably won't argue about this anymore. Whether or not this site gets SSL depends on where the admin stands.
  22. Charging to revoke the certificate means that people might just risk it and leave their sites potentially unsecure. I'd argue that there's a good case to be made for the root certificate to be removed.
  23. I accidentally double-dosed on my medication. Again. Damn this memory. It's never pleasant. I do not recommend it.
  24. StartSSL? No. They charge $25 for revocation for each certificate - with no wildcard and lots of subdomains, it can get costly. They also charged to revoke when the Heartbleed bug problem was going on. I don't exactly trust their business model and I wouldn't use the certificates on any site I manage.
  25. $50 a year can make the difference between being able to pay for a site or being forced to take it down.
