Here's another bit of fridge horror-y thought I came up with a while ago (though whether it contradicts anything in FM I cannot remember, I'm sort of half-asleep here): Gordon Freeman was born in Seattle. He went to college at M.I.T. and spent some time at the University of Innsbruck before getting the job at Black Mesa. As far as I know, those are all fairly temperate climates. So he moved into the middle of a desert. Chances are he spent most of his time inside the air-conditioned building and didn't have much chance to get acclimated to the heat. During the events of Half-Life, he runs around the desert in a heavy metal suit.

Okay, since in this thread people seem more confused than I am (which is an achievement), here's a quick tutorial, at least for Windows: 1. Download the RAR file. 2. If you haven't got a program to unpack it already, download and install 7-Zip. 3. Find the RAR file and unpack it. 4. Now, find where you installed Steam. Usually it'll be in C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86), but I installed it under C:\Games. 5. From there, go to the path: \Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods. 6. Copy the STTR_CH1_V1_01 folder and paste it there. You MAY need administrator rights depending on your OS. 7. Restart Steam and it should appear in your list. 8. (Optional) Right-click the mod, click Properties, go to Launch Options and add -autoconfig to have the game automatically adjust your video settings. I also like to add -windowed in there. Hopefully that ought to do it. Now excuse me while I go pass out on my bed for another hour....

IIRC, they weren't at that level yet with the characterization and couldn't pull it off convincingly. In Half-Life 2 the thing with Judith Mossman I think borrowed some elements from that, but I'd have to double-check my sources again and I'm feeling lazy.

Oh, Tumblr. I've had to limit how much I go on there because it was just a bit too crazy for me and not good for my mood swings at all. The times I do go on there, the XKit extension has a blacklist and a post-blocking extension which I make plenty use of.

It took me a while to figure out I was asexual and not just a weird person who didn't have any interest in sex. (Same goes with the aromanticism.) I didn't even know it existed until a few years ago.

If I recall right, Uplink was based on a cut chapter called "Communications Center." I think parts of Decay were also based on it. Not sure if I'd call Uplink canon though.

I get the occasional misspelled scam email about my "ITunes Account." Which I don't have.
