  1. As an honest question, who was this killer (what was his name, who did he kill (number of victims), did he have a specific mental illness, etc.)

  3. Alright, I think I found the next contender for "worst game of all time". "Ethnic Cleansing", a poorly made, very buggy eyesore of a game where you're a skinhead murdering racial minorities and Jews. The graphics, hit detection, sound quality, and general message of the game are all terrible beyond human comprehension. It's like making "The Turner Diaries" into a game and giving the development to the person(s) who made "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing".
  4. It usually depends on each issue being addressed.

  6. I really hate pulling a Godwin, but I can't help but point out that this kind of thinking is espoused by bigots of all strips. The "we need to reduce overpopulation" thing is the stuff the Nazis and genocidal maniacs like them espoused. As fucking if. You act like the criminals in question don't have weapons of their own, or that they aren't part of a group or that they'll just sit there and let you kill them.
  7. I have arachnophobia and that makes me desperately wish for brain bleach.
  8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_uprisings_in_Iraq https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Shia_uprising_in_Iraq Saddam couldn't keep things in his country stable.
  9. It's because prisoners are regularly dehumanized in the United States (although that is getting less and less common by the day). Actually, it's called anecdotal evidence. I do however agree with CF, that these things happen to women a disturbingly large amount of the time. Anyway, there's been yet another school shooting in the United States, and the killer had been motivated by misogyny. Just putting that out there as food for thought.
  10. So apparently, the Taliban recently took over an Afghan city, and it got retaken by local forces backed by NATO. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/29/us-afghanistan-attack-idUSKCN0RS0A820150929 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-29/afghan-forces-fight-to-retake-northern-city-from-taliban/6814386 http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/10/02/us-afghanistan-attack-idUSKCN0RU07Y20151002 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-01/afghan-forces-retake-kunduz-from-taliban-says-government/6820028 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-02/afghan-forces-recapture-city-centre-amid-fierce-clashes/6821806 It seems like the Afghan government was shakier than originally thought.
  11. I don't think Ross said he would limit himself to just indie games. Here's a suggested indie game for Halloween though: http://www.vanishgame.com/
  12. Any of the STALKER games.
  13. So the Houthis got pushed out of Aden and the Yemeni government/Gulf State coaltion have been driving the Houthis north. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/27/us-yemen-security-airstrike-idUSKCN0RR0IW20150927 This is the latest in a series of attacks on civilians ad on the border between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
  14. Your welcome. I'd recommend that you check this place out as well when you've got the time: http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/index.php
  15. http://www.voanews.com/content/islamic-state-launches-attack-on-libyan-airport/2970636.html ISIS in Libya have not had much success recently.
  16. Sorry, but I could not disagree more. As you're a mod I can't really do anything about it, but I'm just saying that I think this kind of sentiment allows bigotry to be aired without consequence.
  17. So, is there anyone here who is a fan of Alternate History here? For those familiar to the genre, this is the place to discuss alternate history scenarios, works of fiction, recommendations, etc. Here are a few works of AH that I recommend to people new to the genre: How Few Remain, where the Confederacy wins the American Civil War and establishes itself as an independent nation. The Man in the High Castle, where World War II is won by the Axis as America pursues a more isolationist path than in real life. The Axis go on to invade America in the late Fifties and occupy most of the country. Not a very plausible scenario, but still worth reading. Also being made into a TV series by Amazon. Fatherland, where the Nazis manage to defeat the Soviet Union and have most of Europe under their rule, and is currently locked in a Cold War with the United States. More plausible than "The Man in the High Castle" and a good read. Festung Europa: The Anglo-American/Nazi War, where, simillar to Fatherland, the Nazis are victorious against the Soviet Union and control the European continent. Hostilities resume in the early Fifties and Europe is torn apart by the renewed war. One of the best works of AH I've read, and a must read for all fans of the genre. Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran, where, as the title indicates, Iran is invaded by the US during the War on Terror. A well-researched timeline that explores the many consequences of the "Iran War", on the United States, the Middle East, and globally. A Giant Sucking Sound, where Ross Perot becomes President of the United States in 1992. EDIT: The Yiddish Policman's Union, where a settlement in Sitka, Alaska is made for Jews persecuted by the Nazis and fleeing the destruction of Israel. The novel itself takes place decades after the settlement is established and follows a detective trying to solve a murder case. A World of Laughter, A World of Tears, where Walt Disney is convinced to run for President in 1952, after Eisenhower drops out from health concerns. Bad things happen as President Disney is not prepared to handle the crises presented to him while in office. Decisive Darkness, where after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Japanese government is taken over by hardline militarists who want the war to continue. More atomic bombings and an invasion of Japan take place in order to end the war, and massive bloodshed ensues. So, opinions and thoughts are much appreciated.
  18. I think the real problem here is "what constitutes hate speech?", because for me, this is a clear example of hate speech, and should have been met with disciplinary action: So less worth for almost everyone else in the USA, (currently being a white male means that you will not get a high paying job anywhere, if you don't already have one) stay the exact same in most of the European countries, lose most value in the middle east and asia, and gain a small amount of worth in the top 1% of earners world wide. Discrimination is very common against the white male, simply because of the quotas to hire the minorities. (these quotas are so that companies can get massive amounts of government money for free, at least in the USA) Females and minorities in the USA are given better initial pay offerings and benefits to entice them, and it all revolves around getting paid by the government to not hire white men. (a white man and a black man apply for the same job, the white man is perfectly qualified and experienced for the position and the black man has no qualifications or experience at all, the company will hire the black man, same goes for any woman) The problem isn't that minorities are underrepresented, it's that everyone overreacts when they hear about any form of 'discrimination' when it involves a minority. Hire based on qualifications, not based on gender or skin color. (and quit hiring H1-B visas for $30k/yr for jobs that should pay $150+k/yr)
  19. No, no, no. Several examples I listed were outright bigoted, and the ones I think should be met with bans were direct calls for real world violence. I will report things I find offensive and such from now on, but I think we should make it clear that bigotry, murder fantasies, and calls for violence should be met with a harsh response.
  20. Okay, this is really late, but here's a few that should involve at the bare minimum a kick: To be incredibly obnoxious, hateful, hypocritical, idiotic, and overly zealous to the point of infringing the rights of others because they act on their feelings rather than logic? Feminist are a fucking joke and the world would be better off without them. They make problems where there aren't any and act like we women are oppressed when we aren't. It also doesn't help that they want to bring the LGBT communities into the hate circle jerk with them, when really a lot of gays I've met hate feminist. So less worth for almost everyone else in the USA, (currently being a white male means that you will not get a high paying job anywhere, if you don't already have one) stay the exact same in most of the European countries, lose most value in the middle east and asia, and gain a small amount of worth in the top 1% of earners world wide. (all are non-Christian) Note the personal attack in the below quotes (along with other things): And here's the only posts I found that deserves a ban outright: And all this is, of course, not counting what I have said in the past (and occasionally the present). If you think that it is necessary, I'll show my past examples of trolling (most were very callous and even outright cruel views on human life).
  21. I think scientists that study planets (planetologists?) would work consistently to find out what caused most of those planets to deteriorate into asteroids. Some might worry about if what happened to those planets could happen to Earth. What do you think would happen if Donald Trump was President (and I promise I won't argue)?
  22. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-19/israeli-war-planes-bomb-gaza-strip-following-rocket-strike/6788644 Protests in Jerusalem are escalating, and there's been a rocket attack from Gaza and an Israeli airstrike in response.
