  1. Simulation Game Playing Simulator
  2. First Person Side Scroller. Might be a bit one dimensional.
  3. I guess that is valid for any Quentin Tarantino movie
  4. A new FM episode! That sure brings back memories. EP 42 was released the weekend before my final exam that I should have spent learning^^. Thats almost a year ago now and my friends who took an extra year are preparing now... Reminds me of a CS exam on Red-Black-Trees
  5. 2.75 hourish? Great scott! It' s like that damn Black Mesa:Source count down all over again! Sure brings back some memories.
  6. Nobody said that, it's existing culture, on new media, controlled by chains of delegations of greedy people, who got artists to sign away their rights and hog their work for decades (almost a century by now) until it gets forgotten and vanishes, because everybody is denied access. Destroying culture on behalf of the artists who signed their rights away, installing DRM into standards, trying to create a pay per view universe, where you go to jail for tinkering with a device that you bought. Lobbying to get a 20 year extension on copyright all 20 years "on behalf of the creators". Maybe I should have been a bit more specific on what buggs me here to begin with.
  7. I just discovered that Youtube decided to censor most of the Pink Floyd album uploads. (Luckily I have them physically around here, just a little extra effort on my end). Nevertheless, that's just sad. Apparently this is the way culture dies nowadays.
  8. Perhaps "If you watch Freeman's Mind backwards".
  9. If you watch the Back to the Future trilogy backwards, it's about a bunch of time travelers who fix broken things and return stolen items to their owners.
  10. Good news everyone! Preasure cookers are now weapons of mass destruction. That opens up a lot of new oportunities for invading countries!
  11. You know you're on a tight budget when your computer case looks like this: By the way "yay, casing and no flying parts and wires anymore!"
  12. I would call it "the never used plot device".
  13. Today, somebody called me a "Perpetually-drunk-acid-head-assembly-programmer-8-bit-hippie". That's probably the coolest thing I've ever heard; just added that to my signature right now.
  14. While the blog itself is a wordpress blog, the forum software is phpBB 3.
  15. Make graphene. I wanted to pay my PCB manufacturing bills today, but they told me they either lost it, or somebody else excidentally paid it. What should I do?
  16. There's one thing I just love to point out at every oportunity. Ross Scott produces "videos", he doesn't make "content", that's a degrading term used by companies that view artists as money shitting puppets they own and write their contracts accordingly. Calling art "content", artists "creators" (mysterious, god like creatures) and viewers "consumers" (brainless, passively consuming creatures) while serving out contracts like that just establishes a way of thinking that plays into their hands for calls for ever more restrictive copyright laws that cement they way of thinking into shitty laws, instead of shitty contracts.[/brainfart] Who wouldn't? Sadly everybody on the forum quickly buying lottery tickets is not a quite reliable plan...
  17. Yeah, I had the same problem. I could not log in since thursday. It is a PHP error and I tried multiple browsers on multiple operating systems on multiple machines using multiple internet connections. It is deffinitely server side problem, but strangely other people could log in. The error message means that some function in the PHP script tried to modify the cookies sent by the page, but could not do so, because the HTTP header has already been sent. According to a google search, this happens in a phpBB board when you mess up the encoding when edditing a configuration file.
  18. It might piss them off? It is generally not a good idea to piss off people you want something from.
  19. This has been hovering around my mind (and my desk) for quite a time now. Some time in 2012, I had the idea of piecing together a "simple" 8 bit computer from scratch. In late 2012, I discarded my custom discrete CPU design, decided to use a Z80 CPU (8 bit CPU from 1976) instead and started over. Bread board prototypes have been built, things haven't worked (or suddenly did work for no reason), machine code programs were written by hand, an assembler and a linker have been written, or in other words: yes, he is insane now. However, today I have hit a critical milestone and decied to tell people about what I've been doing since November. I have a "production quality" prototype on custom etched PCBs and got a simple LED blinking program to work. Current photo: Older, but better quality photo (without the chips): The PCBs, the day after etching: The very first prototype: Other than that, this shouldn't be different from any other "rate my PC" thread, so here are some specs: CPU: Z80 @ 1 MHz clock ROM: 1 kB boot ROM RAM: 31 kB in the above setup, extendable up to incredible 8 MB using bank switching "Mainboard": passive ECB back plane Memory: audio tape in the near future, no idea how much data it can hold Graphics: wut? Ahem, I have some plans for abusing an oscilloscope as a vector display in the near future, but a VT220 will be used till then (no graphics). Ideas for a VGA interface are hovering around somewhere. Sadly it doesn't have any functioning I/O hardware yet. This will receive my full attention now that the finalized basic system design works. Designing and writing an operating system will certainly be fun. The euphoria is already wearing off. In case anybody is interested in how the project continues, I setup a small blog for my dev-matches. Dave

What got me puzzled was this question: What do they mean with that? There are too many ways for interpretations. Is the point in thinking that your perception is different from others? What if you know that you have a physical damage and sometimes see/hear/smell strange things?
  21. Similar situation here. A friend showed me gmod, I loved it, and bought it together with CS:S. (However I didn't really like CS:S). Some time later, I played the Portal demo. I loved it, got a cracked version. I liked it so much that I decided that Valve should really get the money for it and I bought the Orange Box. However, I decided that I won't play Half Life 2 until I have played Half Life 1, so I got a cracked version and finished it in like two months. Again, I really loved it and bought it on Steam because I felt like Valve deserves that money. I haven't really played any new game ever since finishing EP 2 and am now hoping that Valve will release EP 3 some time before my retirement.
  22. If you constantly hear background music playing, maybe you should see a doctor? In other words, it doesn't really make sense. So you like to listen to music while being hunted by the military and trying to survive the crazy alien-portal-apocalypse you accidentaly caused? That doesn't really make sense either. Uh, well... hmmmmmm...
  23. For the nth time now: They pay him and take care of the "not-so-sexy" work of gaining money out of internet videos (resolve copyright issues, etc...).
  24. Do you mean "near her heart" ^^? Completely unrealistic looks aside, whatever happens, I'm looking forward to the day about a week before I retire, when the last FM episode and the finished version of Black Mesa are released and we are still waiting for EP3.
