  2. Good idea: giving shotguns to test subjects to kill the army of mantis-men with it.
  3. On the next episode of "The Bring Back Our Motorized Bicycles" show, every ninja will not be seen instead there will be pirates and it isn't a fat joke. Although
  4. You start systematically grabbing the books one-by-one and stabbing them through their wrapper without reading the titles. A dozen books after you suddenly hit something hard, steely whith the knife. You open that book and you see inside the book the pages were cut out in a shape so a small copper box could fit. You bring the book closer to a light source and have a closer look at the small box. The box has shiny, clean sides with spherical (and flower patterned) fretwork on it. The box is small as a 0,5l flask, has bit rounded corners, shape of a soap maybe and it has a keyhole on the bottom.

  8. John McCarthy has died on Monday. He invented LISP (the World's first functional programming language), some conventions and he started to create artificial intelligences. And many other things couldn't be here today without his work (cloud systems for example). Rest in peace.

    Q & A Thread

    The moon. How do you like to eat cottege cheese: sweet or salt flavoured?
  10. Convert a motherboard assembly line into a toast producing factory. The assembly lines have ovens. You'll just need to reprogram it and add some bread, butter and jam. Oh, and fire the guys who had soldered the small components to the boards and give them free toasts. With lemons. My artificial intelligence program is stubborn. It says that I'm a moron, and not just a regular moron. How can I convince it to work with me as a partner? Giving it more RAM or calculating power did not work.

  14. A few weeks ago I had a dream in which I was on the 2nd floor of our house and was about to go down on the stairs. On the first step I accidentally slipped and instead of falling down my body started to float slowly downwards. I had to struggle to do that slow fall so I felt like my muscles are working extremely hard on that. During the sinking my body started to rotate and I felt pain on my back. I also felt like something is controlling my fall. The staircase is in a spiral form so obviously it wasn't a straight fall. When the struggling, the pain, the spinning were getting too much I lost my dream consciousness and woke up in the middle of the night with a sudden and loud breath.
  15. I'm currently working on a strategy game (or simulation?) written in Java. The graphical representation won't be implemented just game logic (maybe later I will add drawing, updating and other gui elements). This project is kind of a homework for my technology of programming course. The game will be a bit simple (my first idea was a C'n'C clone): a map which contains blocks (width, hieght), using integer as block coordinates, one block can contain only one unit, units can only move block by block, a block has three states (1) normal (2) obsticle (3) mineral (well I think I may change it to be able to have more states, features), the buildings are placed on differentially shaped blocks (list of blocks), units have hp, speed, weapon (damage, firing speed, range), etc. It has currently 23 classes (abstract ones, interfaces also), more than 50 methods and a lot of data attributes. The code went a bit untidy so for now I'm cleaning it up. From the standard java libraries I used only java.util.List, java.util.Map and java.util.Point.
  16. Guys! I have the Black Box (kind of). Proof: http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/foto/black_box.jpg Well, it's not the actual, mentioned one, because this is just a paper card, with an activation code on the other side. It was bundled with an ATI graphics card. So this is not a single product with a disk, just a virtual one with the name "Black Box" and of course with the three games.
  17. On the 13th of september (at night) I had my strangest dream. Luckily I managed to write it down. I even posted it on my blog in hungarian. So let me translate and type it down here: In my dream I was at the campus with two of my friends. We were speaking about quantum entanglement or co-relation [don't know exactly, but it was in connection with quantum physics] and walking to the tram stop. Everything looked and sounded very well detailed except the dialogs. I was wearing my drab coloured shorts and a blue T-shirt which has the text: "This is my clone" [note: I don't own that kind of T-shirt with the text but I one of my other firend has one]. When we arrived at the side of the street (the stop placed on the opposite side) we didn't go around on a walkway safely we just simply rolled through the street in front of the moving vehicles. It feeled like it was just an everyday habit. After that we took the tram number 6 to get to the underground [i don't know why we were heading to the metro line]. This part seemed normal until we got in the subway train, cart, whatever. The long vehicle started to move suddenly and at the part when the lights starts flickering [the shaking and flickering are frequent things in real life too] I wasn't paying attention [as I usually did when I travel] and from one moment I realised I'm not on the same train. My friends were gone too. The interior walls, the advertisments, the materials on the seats the people changed too. On the next stop I got off and ran up to the surface on a strangely clean silver coloured escalator. When I reached the top I was in an unfamiliar building. Every text and sign I saw was in spanish! There was a small ticket office on the left side in the building. I ran over there and asked about the place in english. In the office there was a pretty looking girl (she looked very similar to someone I know) and replied back in spanish with a beautiful smile. I didn't understand what she was saying. Then she pointed outside with her arm, and I saw a wonderful landscape with bright spanish streets, palmtrees, houses with strange roofs, and at the end of this scenery there was a sea! I saw the sea and it gave me a warm feeling. I ran out to the streets, got on a red coloured bus. I searched for a seat inside when suddenly a hungarian ticket inspector showed up and asked me to show my tickets (in hungarian!). After that I woke up. And I remember that everything, every single spot was precisely detailed in my dream. The traffic signs, the buses, the cars, the id tables of the cars, the streets, pavements, different people, the language. Everything looked natural.
  18. It's from Morning Patrol, when Mike asks Dave what kind of superpowers would he want if he could get any, then Dave replies the mind control thing (don't know precisely the line). Anyway I want rewind button of course. As for the slow motion thing, I think it's possible for the human brain and the nervous system to work at a higher speed so the environment would seem slower from the observer's point of view. Is the mute button works on your environment or is it for a specific sound location (ie. some other people)? Because you just need some earplugs if you don't want to hear anything from your environment. So I guess it is for a defined group of soundwaves. Oh, then this second option is also possible with an active noise reduction system.
  19. Some of my better 3d renders and one of my biggest blender project: http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/render/blender_shot.png It's a house I modelled without any structural, modelling knowledge. It was made for an unfinished game for a university course I took part in last year. At least I've got my credits (mark) for the modelling and a basic snake game made in XNA . http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/render/szoba5_c.jpg http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/render/szoba6_d.jpg Here are the first renders of the rooms: http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/render/haz_alapkepek.zip Videos of the house. (Ogg vorbis video format) http://kifkft.fw.hu/videos/reds1.ogg http://kifkft.fw.hu/videos/reds2.ogg These are older renders. 21. Abstract art maybe? But I do like the little wobbly squares you have going on there on the sides. This one I find to be quite disturbing. I like it What is it supposed to be? One of the birds from Dark Crystal? Well, thank you. Both of you. I didn't see that movie, so I guess it's not from there. But now you raised up my interest in watching that movie.
  22. SPaaaaaaccceee! I'm in space! I'm in space! Hey. Hey. Hey lady. Hey. Space. Star. Star. Star. Earth. Wanna go space.
  23. Well looking at the drawings here reminded me I had some drawings. Unfortunately it is hard to find them because I made those a long time ago. I just put what I found. They are not that good. Here comes nothing: I made the photos with a crappy phone (when I find these I'll put them in the scanner): I added only the URL for the second and third one. If I came back here to see a response I wouldn't like to see those. Not too many times. http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/SP_A0019.jpg http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/SP_A0066e.jpg And some random graphics made with GIMP. Don't know why I kept those on my disk. Don't ask what it is. Even I don't know what it is supposed to be. (URL only again. Just don't want to screw the page's width.) http://people.inf.elte.hu/sajsaai/downloads/strange2.jpg
  24. Dennis M. Ritchie died too. He was the inventor of the C programming language and the Unix operating system. There wouldn't be Apple or Microsoft and any C programming related systems, languages without his work. And of course there wouldn't be Unix like systems nowadays. He was a great developer and programmer. Steve Jobs was a good presenter and a great CEO. He might had became a synonym for Apple (and many people blamed him for what the company was doing and acting in the market and their weird patent policy) but as a person he had elevated and so human thoughts (right now I'm referring to his speech at the Stanford University in 2005). Rest in peace Steve and Ritchie. Both of you did major changes in the history of informatics which is part of our main history. #include int main() { printf("Goodbye dad.\n"); return 0; } #include int main(void) { printf("Goodbye World."); return ; }
