  1. How did he trigger the scientist to say that? Did he edit the script or something? He probably just talked to him(+use key) while in game, then wrote the joke afterwards. Fair enough. Seems random for the NPC to say that though.
  2. What annoys me is that there's no middle ground, it's either one end of the extreme or the other. On the one hand we have cops like the ones shown here, but on the other end we have the riot cops during the london riots this august (I'm lucky I don't live too near that area) who couldn't do anything. I would've tased those rioters any day.

  4. I'm still trying to figure out why they put laser trip wires in the conveyor. I'm assuming they're not there normally.
  5. Welcome Felix! Enjoy your stay.
  6. Flashbacks? Which episodes were these?
  7. You're not alone there
  8. Yeah that's the way I'm seeing it right now. But still, even if he is a giant asshole, I can't help but feel Ross could've got some interesting jokes out of it. Perhaps something along the lines of: 'I wonder how Barney's coping with all these soldiers. Knowing that guy, he's probably joined them by now just to get at me. Well guess what Barney?! I won that last chocolate bar fair and square! You want it, you're gonna have to yank it out of my cold, dead hands! Bring it on!'
  9. You'd also need 2 female voice actors. I've seen some guys trying to do Chell's mind with a male voice and they did not work very well.
  10. So here's something I've been wondering. Why is it Freeman never acknowledges the existence of Barney, Eli or Kleiner? I was under the impression that they're supposed to be quite close. FM 1 came out late in 2007, so Ross should definitely have played all of the HL2 contents by then. Did he overlook this or is it deliberate? And if so, how will he explain the reactions from Barney and co in HL2 (assuming FM reaches HL2).
  11. It's hard for me to choose between the 2 since they compliment each other so beautifully. If I had to, I might go with Mike, since we've seen him alone in CP before (that bit in The Tunnel).
  12. Don't know if troll or serious. I don't fuck around when to comes to horror. I'm deadly serious. I loved it. I thought it was composed very well, paced well, and I really enjoyed the use of old horror standards with cinema cruelty. I'm a huge, huge fan of the cinema of cruelty. The French are doing it best right now, but there are some others out there doing it right. You must also be a Saw fan then. I've only seen the second one but it wasn't something I'd get into (the way the traps are designed is quite clever though). To be honest, if you want to talk about body horror, I prefer things like The Fly and The Thing.
  13. I thought Barney's mind is already finished. Isn't he doing a new mind series now or something?
  14. Shephard's mind is pretty cool but like everyone else have said, updates are too irregular. I've seen some of Barney's mind but the earlier episodes put me off. In terms of minds that are not uber popular (i.e. those not currently appearing in Meeting of the Minds etc), I tend to avoid any that feature games I haven't actually played yet. seanmcshaft's Jack's Mind (Bioshock 1) is pretty decent but relatively unknown at the moment.
  15. There are several I have in mind but only a couple that can be made with what I currently have access to. The following is one of those: I have an idea for a mind series type of machinima that involves multiple individuals. Basically, take a co-op game e.g. Borderlands and have 4 people all recording their respective screens with fraps or whatever. During voice recording, each character can either think to themselves or be having a conversation with their partners. The trick is, depending on which screen you're looking at, you may hear different things. So for example, if 2 characters start by having a conversation together, both screens would simply have the same dialogue but looking at different from different angles. But if they then separate for a little bit, they would have their own monologues and perhaps you might hear the other guy's speech in a quieter voice since it's far away. The biggest problem with this kind of mind series is organisation, which would be a nightmare. Also, the voice syncing between the 4 players would be a nightmare. Effectively, each episode would also require 4 videos (1 per character). The best way to imagine this would be watching the crossover episode between Barney's Mind and Shephard's Mind.
  16. It's an interesting idea but I think we need to know how many people will actually join before we decide anything. Assuming if about 20 or so people sign up to voice act or something, would you create characters specifically to accommodate them all or just make them appear as extras?
  17. Even if films like that is seen as 'good', they would only become cult classics or something like that. I personally refuse to watch it on the grounds that it would only give these film makers the idea that 'disgusting concept/shock horror sells'.
  18. So hold on, what did that guy actually do in the first place? And yeah, that woman really should've known better than that.
  19. No way, am I really the first Asian fan of this site?! People don't know what they're missing!!!
  20. Last movie I saw in the cinema was Captain America. It wasn't too bad but I kind of expected a little more... I dunno, originality. Everything in the film was very predictable and it just felt like a massive advertisement to The Avengers. Rating: 3/5
  21. OMG how did I not notice this topic when I first joined? Hi, my name is Dajun Huo I was born in China and is currently living in the UK since 2000 I'm currently in university (am turning 20 soon). I'm a huge fan of most Valve games (apart from CS, I die way too much), the Fallout series and League of Legends but haven't played many games recently since I'm working on my own mind series (working on ep 9 now!). Production is pretty steady right now but is really more for my own benefit (wanted to challenge myself and see if I can actually create and finish a project outside the usual academic subjects).
  22. The way DasBoSchitt makes Gmod videos is a good example of when a machinima director knows the limits of the format. It's difficult to make precise animations in Gmod the way he does it and he recognise that by writing skits that accommodates said weaknesses.
  23. Roosterteeth's got a lot of CGI and action now, which is fair enough , but they need to remember what made their series great in the first place: the comedy.
  24. Roosterteeh and Accursed Farms are the only ones I keep an eye on regularly. I used to watch digitalph33r's stuff as well but only Deus Ex Machina and he's stopped making it now. DasBoSchitt's stuff is also pretty good, but he has a very slow release schedule.
  25. Trackmania on Steam. I realise it's free, but it's a game, right? This thing is HARD though, the frustration levels is comparable with Counter Strike Source
