  1. Well to be fair, games these days in general are avoiding things like that unless it's a fundamental aspect. Just look at how much controversy Mass Effect got before it came out.
  2. Of course. New Vegas does feel more similar to older titles but still very tame in comparison to Fallout 2. What are you referring to by 'tame'?
  3. Have you, by any chance, tried New Vegas? It's made by the same people who did Fallout 2, so at least it's faithful to the original.
  4. I'm waiting for Oblivion GOTY to go on sale again. It's only been recently I've decided to give it a go, and looking back to the summer sales and earlier I've missed a LOT of opportunities Is there a possibility that it might go on sale when Skyrim comes out? Does anyone remember if Fallout 3 went on sale when New Vegas came out, for instance?
  5. I just saw Shep's Mind finale, it was fantastic!
  6. Precisely, the parts you pointed out are all cliches, they're commonly found in pretty much any film that involves insurgency against a tyrannical authority. If anything, I never thought that was particularly original in HL2, but what made HL2 memorable is how well it was presented. Put it this way: the 2004 Battlestar Galactica features the plot of humanity's fight for survival against machines, the TV series also had cylons that can disguise as humans. Would you say that's inspired by Terminator?
  7. ...what? Children of Men is based on a novel by the same name released in 1992, that's six years before HL 1 came out. Why would you say it's based on HL2 anyway? Because it's about infertility? That wasn't exactly the defining feature HL2 to begin with, really.
  8. I know, and it's definitely the best fallout fan series I've seen so far.
  9. Ah yes, Nuka Break. If those guys got a bigger budget...
  10. Definitely agree that a movie based on a game shouldn't be a direct translation of the said game, rather it should be based on the universe it's set in whilst keeping the atmosphere of the original. For that reason, I think the best candidates would be open world RPGs with well established lores, namely: Mass Effect Elder Scrolls Fallout But none of them should be based directly on the plot of the individual games. Mass Effect could be based on the First Contact war and the discovery of the Mass Relays. Not too sure about Elder Scrolls (I'm not familiar enough with the lore). Fallout, I think, should be either set just before the Great War or when the first Vaults opens (NOT vault 13!) And for the love of God, get the original writers involved! They don't have to come up with the scripts personally, but they should at least act as close advisers.
  11. EPISODE 6 IS OUT!!!
  12. Regarding the accusations that the other mind series are just rip offs: this is stupid. The Mind Series no longer belong to an individual, it has transcended into a genre. The same thing happened to Halo machinimas when Red vs Blue first came out: anyone else who attempted to make a Halo machinima afterwards were initially accused of being a rip off, even though the only thing that was similar was the game engine they used and that they were comedies too. Personally, I don't consider any mind series to be a rip off unless the character being portrayed shares far too many similarities with the portrayal made by someone else. In terms of the other mind series I've seen, I have to admit I only really saw Shepard's mind to any real extent. It was the only one that could truly grab me and make me forget that this is someone playing through a video game. Also, and I might be alone here, but I tend to only watch a mind series if I already played the game before or at least know it well.
  13. Yeah, it's not the best episode in the series, but the next one is going to be MUCH better (my favourite one )
  14. Amen to that.
  15. The way I see it, people who are rude to machinima makers for not updating regularly enough tend to be people who never tried anything similar before: maintaining an active project like this is not easy, especially if it's not their actual jobs.
  16. Nah I don't think any of us are saying it's canon. It would be cool if it is though
  17. The impression I'm getting now is that Freeman also don't know who Breen is. I'm pretty sure he said in the episode where he's fighting 'the shark' that he doesn't know who's in charge of the company. However, Alyx seem to think that he does know Breen in HL2.
  18. yeah, he probably won't notice the bees until he acquire that weapon himself.
  19. EPISODE 5 IS OUT!
  20. I loled more at this episode than the previous couple put together (and those were pretty funny to begin with), nice work!
  21. Here's a little something to celebrate both my own birthday and New Vegas's 1st birthday
  22. Woo 20 years old today!
  23. Thanks man! I'm going to continue this for as long as I can. IF I can go all the way, it would easily become one of the longest mind series there is.
  24. Wait, she's still working on Chell's mind? Happy days!
  25. Yeah no problem man, I don't mind. I only made the topic in Freeman's Mind because I saw someone else promoting their series there.
