I haven't been around for a long time but this topic caught my attention for a few reasons: I have a Maxtor Diamondmax 10 250GB HDD which is an IDE (PATA) drive. http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/maxtor/en_us/documentation/quick_specs/dm10_ata_quickspecs.pdf I use this drive to record too with fraps and hypercam in 1080p and I get smooth recording @30fps in both programs If you are recording 1080p I do recommend a Quad Core CPU, yes recording only uses 2 threads but this does allow the game or program to run off the other threads resulting in no or much less performance loss. SSD's are incredibly overrated in my opinion and are way overpriced. A Western Digital Velociraptor with 10,000rpm is a better choice http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236243 1TB for $230 right now try and beat that with a SSD. If you really need the bandwidth and top of the line speed go with a PCIE SSD Reports of 1000+ mb/s write speeds Still I think it is a waste of money unless your filthy rich. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227743 Other things to consider: Don't record to the same drive your Operating System, Page File, or Game is running off of. I run 4 HDD's 1 for my OS (Crucial m4 128gb) 1 for my games (Western Digital Velociraptor 1TB) 1 for junk and temp stuff (my maxtor drive which I use for recording) 1 for media entertainment like movies, tv, music, etc. (portable USB Western Digital 500GB) System: X38 Asus p5e3 deluxe motherboard Core 2 Quad Q9550-E0 @3.75ghz 4x2 (8GB) Crucial Ballistx Tactical Ram DDR3 7-7-7-24 @1408mhz Sound Blaster X-fi Titanium HD GTX 480 SLI

i had my pc sitting flat on it's side and it was hitting 100Celcius without the fan But when i turned the pc right side up again the card never goes above 75 Celcius without the Delta fan? Why is this, is it more difficult to dissipate heat when your pc is flat? i also managed a overclock of Core 700 -> @825 MEM 1848 -> @1900

normally this would not work for most people i am lucky that i have the resources and experience i don't recommend anybody to actually do this unless they are a nutcase it is very hard to adjust to the lifestyle and it is not for everyone -

Vega, it's your choice and I am not the one to criticise you in any way. However, there are some questions you need to at least consider before getting too used to this style of life: - you're probably never going to have a mortgage or a credit card or any kind of insurance without a permanent address - you will not be able to invest your savings without a permanent address and cash savings are a security risk and will be devalued by inflation; - if you plan to advance your career with your lawfirm or with another company, your life style will eventually be known and it will likely stop any prospects of meaningful promotion; - if you plan on running your own business you will need financing etc, and for that you will need a permanent address (but then you can live at your place of business, probably); - you will need a proper place to live if you ever decide to raise children (I won't dwell on the problem of getting a GF to do it with while living in a car); - not getting on the property ladder or a career path will become a handicap rather than getting ahead of the curve; - 5k in cash is not going to be enough for retirement... Although thinking of retirement at your age is exemplary but you need to think of your life first, otherwise the chances are you won't ever get to retire in the first place. Regards i think you fail to understand the kind of lifestyle i considered all of this i have been living like this for 6 plus months. I have a permanent address but i don't live there it is called "Department of Family Services" they allow you to use there address as a well address for yourself i have a bank account and a credit card people are so glued to the way society works that they can't even figure simple things out like i have. you make it sound way more difficult than it really is. -

Don't do this without a job. it is absolutely pointless the whole reason is to work and save for retirement. also it is technically illegal to sleep in your car so find a discrete location I don't pay car insurance since i forge my car tags and i technically don't own a car since i tell everyone i don't have a car. I actually bike to work which saves money, GAS money this ind of life is risky but if your smart you can stay ahead of the curve -

I have a thick wool blanket in my car and it keeps me warm when my car gets to 15 degrees wool is the best insulator besides a water proof winter jacket which i also have I date every once and awhile, but it never goes back to my place marriage may happen if i meet a amazing girl, you can't predict these things I would be forced to give my lifestyle up tho
