  1. I'm in the middle of a big move right now and I just don't have the time to test the multiplayer. What I've seen looks good, but IMO it seems to be helping the player a bit too much. I didn't check if it was possible to play online on 'survivor' difficutly, but it would be rather nice if that was possible. I love survivor difficulty by the way, seems a lot more realistic. Wish I could have played it like that the first time around.
  2. Alright, slip up. It's just a known fact that we were around a lot longer than then. We didn't always leave behind writing, but a lot can still be learned from the tools and corpses we used. The amount of time we've been around wasn't anywhere near the point I was trying to get across though, so unless you have nothing else to say about that..
  3. When in doubt, use spoiler tags. But this is alright, yeah.
  4. Serious, serious spoiler warnings all over this next bit. Don't say I didn't warn you. But yeah, it's open to interpretation. A LOT of interpretation. I was kind of zoned out for a full day after finishing the game.
  5. Microsoft, knock it off and go back to PC. I want a keyboard with analogue wasd keys so I can sneak and whatnot, just like the xbox controller.
  6. Doublenature.. I'm sorry, this isn't helping you at all. When in doubt, do go for the extreme solution and apply some paste. But be exceedingly careful about it. Ideally you don't fix things until they break (as in, you start seeing glitches). But it might put your mind at easy anyway. That's probably worth something more.
  7. You get a cheeseburger, but it is not as good. I wish I could sweat less when it gets hot. So stinky.
  8. I'm sorry, but that is complete nonsense. 3/4? Even if it did burn, you would be able to smell that in seconds. Temperature variations like that are quite normal, if only because of the change in seasons. Even if you run it at 90c the onboard fan will die before the card ever will. These things are lot more robust than you think. I'm not saying that a computer doesn't require regular cleaning and maintenance. I'm just saying that taking off the heat sink and squirting on some new thermal paste is a lot more hardcore than most people should even attempt to consider. You'll get perfectly normal lifetime usuage out of a PC if you just treat it normally.
  9. Oh so that's why everybody is suddenly making Back to the Future references again! That explains quite a bit. I just thought the average corniness level had gone up a little.
  10. Two days ago I was just minding my own business on the couch with the laptop on my lap. Suddenly I started smelling this faint shortcircuit smell. I seemed to be coming out of the heat exhaust. Looked inside, didn't see anything wrong with it. Then I notice the adaptor cable plug hanging out of the laptop a bit, so I pushed it back in. Big deal. The next day I try to remove the cable, but it was stuck in the laptop! Never happened before. I gave it a good yank and it came loose. Get this: the entire tip of the plug had a large scorch mark on it. WTF!? Since then I've been a bit on edge, hoping my laptop won't spontaneously combust while I'm working. >_>
  11. Eh. Not very exiting I guess. Ubuntu, with f*ing Unity removed:
  12. Skype doesn't sound that bad. I regularly skype with my parents abroad. Sound more like regular mobile phone compression to me.
  13. Granted, but you die before you get there. A falling star? That is not an ordinary star, my son. That star is the tear of a warrior. A pitiful soul who could not find his way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all. I wish I could see Cowboy Bebop again without remembering anything about it.

  15. Same deal here, badly in need of a new 'puter. 1 - 20) DayZ Standalone
  16. Interestingly enough, the same search gets 1,570 hits just two years later. That's a 550% increase! I'd say the particle bat population is healthy and growing. (sorry for the necro post mods, I promise I will be good now and stop bringing back the dead)
  17. Good to hear you again. Little hard to follow though, I'm amazed the interviewer didn't give up on it.
  18. That's alright, we were all there once. Yes it sounds fine then. Unless you have an actual break in the heatpipe (or more commonly, the air intake is stuffed with cat hair), the fps slowdown should only be temporary. It's probably something else causing that. Also, remember that it's summer time now and room temperature may be up a bit too.
  19. thanks for informing me. But what is the point of having a /youtube at the end then?
  20. You've got to hand it to Jack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXefkECoL6k Edit: Uh.. youtube button doesn't work.
  21. Yeah, I loved that part too. Especially how it started out considering the events of the chapter before it. My only wish is that there will some day be an equivalent of this for the PC. It doesn't look like a port will ever happen though, what with Sony being both the publisher and the hardware manufacturer. But maybe other game devs will be inspired at least. I have good hopes for DayZ Standalone.
  22. The original System Shock (Portable). This game baffles me at every corner. It came barely a year after the first Doom, but was so intensely more complex it's hard to imagine how they managed to build it all. It has physics and puzzles involving physics that I hadn't seen before Portal, a range of graphical modes, true look/mouse aim and last but not least a true 3d world. Doom was essentially 2D in that every map was completely flat from above so there were no areas stacked on top of each other. There was also no need to aim beyond the vertial axis in Doom. System Shock was a whoooole other ballgame. It also had external camera view perspectives that could be projected onto wall monitors and such. That's a feature that I thought didn't exist until Halfife 2 happened (well, Bloodlines if you want to be critical, but it was the same Source engine that did it). Well, maybe Duke Nukem 3d had something similar, but I doubt it. In fact, System Shock was so hard to classify at the time that it was simply branded a 'Doom clone' by the media and thus ignored by the masses. A terrible, terrible shame. If only it could have been completed a year earlier, how different the gaming industry could have looked then..
  23. Other than the fact it's pretty linear at times, it may be the best rpg/stealth/shooter hybrid I've come across in a long time. Great story, great graphics, great artwork, great gameplay. Wish the follower AI was a little smarter though. It's a good thing the enviroment AI doesn't notice the follower AI, or the game would become nearly impossible to play.
  24. The painful stomach cramps leading up to diarrhea. I'm surpringly okay with diarrhea itself.
