Hi guys, long time no read. I need a little help finding a video recording tool that can encode from RAM before it stores things on my SSD. I'm trying to complete a game challenge thing and I kind of need to be able to record 15-20 minutes in one go without quitting every three minutes to process Fraps' gigantic files. I was hoping to record a resolution of about 360p, but at a comfortable 50 fps. I can't pull it off with Fraps and I'm not going to purchase a new SSD just for this challenge thing. It should be possible to that amount of encoding in RAM in the background, right? Especially if it's an older game that needs almost no memory at all?

First of all, I feel I should say something because I am a person that actually does gets motion sick in real life in cars and such, almost never behind a computer screen. I feel there is an important difference? If you've got the other variation, I think there isn't a lot you can do with FPS tricks. People expect to get motion sick, they will get motion suck. I swear to got, I can just talk about motion sickness to my girlfriend, and she will claim to get motion sick. That's not motion sickness. First video looks fine, bit more choppy I guess. Second video looks gorgeous. The third video weirds me out somehow. I can't really explain it. It looks good, I'm not nauseous, but something about it just bothers me.

Sweet, new apartment. Where are you and Magda headed? I've spend my whole summer vacation renovating our current home in Norway's Akershus area. We've been here about a year now. Classic nesting behaviour.

Epid video, Ross. This is one game I've never heard of, but oh my god. So much work went into a nearly unplayable game, it's hard to phathom today. 1996, man. Sure, we had Rise of the Triads and Civilization 2. HL was just two years away, but still. A different time. Ross, I'd love to see you have a crack at more unusual mid-90's stuff. Burn:Cycle. Bioforge. The first Dune. The 90s spawned so many evolutionary dead-ends that just wouldn't happen anymore today.

Colin Stetson. But I had to find music with a video in it because that's what the kids like these days.

That's what came to my mind when I heard Freeman say that.

Thanks, that was fun. Things are just getting interesting now, aren't they? Looking forward to more.

Frome the tone of that interview, you'd think Valve was developing it.

Oh, nine now! Something good to watch while I commute later today. Thanks for the entertainment!

....Well this is certainly interesting considering the latest episode. Yeah. But given his history, are we really that surprised? He'll either find stimulants to cope with an impossible situation or a boring one. Say, this fact in particular opens up some perspectives for HL2. Most of the early picking stuff out of trashcans and thrashing about city 17's sewer system really could point at Gordon becoming a degenerate, homeless addict. Bum fights!

Where are the white women at?

"Mmm.. boobies!"

It looks alright, but I don't really.. get it? It doesn't speak to me. I doesn't have a touch of personality that makes me go, 'OOH, Freeman's Mind!'. It might as well have said something entirely different. I'm sorry for taking critic approach here, I really don't think there's anything wrong with the work itself. I just don't see how it connects to FM.

It's Dear Esther. Ah, thanks. I've been meaning to give that a try.

Oh, I almost forgot. Question. Which game is shown during the 'this is my bucket' bit? I recognize all games except shown except for that one. Is it one of the STALKER games maybe?

This was the only one I came across today actually, not counting the stupid dinosaur cloning rumour thing that was grazing Twitter yesterday. I mean come on, cloning Dinosaurs? And a full day early? That's just sad.

Total shocker, that one.

Just let him finish it first. How much trouble could it be to delay its release with ten hours, or however long it takes to watch it all. Heck, we could even just do this as a seperate thing. But without the first-time viewing of the final episode, it kind of loses its punch.

Haha.

That doesn't look half bad, except for the horrid actor reskins. Meh.. if this is the best the community was able to produce, I think I'll just stick with the original ones. Thanks for the link though, I appreciate the help.

I haven't played HL2 in maybe six years, but I recently got my old Steam account back and all the old games I had with that. First thing I played was Black Mesa. Great tribute to the original HL, that one. It made me curious whether anyone has tried to update the HL2 textures and objects. I checked out Steam Workshop, but frankly I am shocked at how quickly that Valve feature has turned into a complete mess. It was started.. what.. less then a year ago? I don't even know where to begin to look for interesting mods there. Old mods, new mods.. it's all mashed together. No proper categories for anything. So instead I was hoping you guys may have come across some interesting things. Black Mesa was good, but I need to continue the journey now. Can't help myself.

Yeah, same here. I live out in the sticks these days. Downloading is OK, but I couldn't upload normal resolution episodes at an acceptable speed.
-
Yeah I will too, either way. It can be fun to watch videos together though. Did that with my girlfriend before I moved to Norway. I know there's Livestream and such, but I used that.. once? And only as streamee, not a streamer. Maybe someone here has some ideas on how to work that? It would be cool if Ross could host it so we end it with the final episode, but it doesn't *have* to be him, so long as we can get close enough to the launch date of the final video.
-
Just an idea here for the final episode, since it is creeping in on us. Ten or whatever hours before the final episode launches, there should be public stream somewhere with chat and whatnot, showing every episode in sequence until the final one. Good way to end it with a bang. Narf?

So how are you holding up Ross? Getting the used to the idea yet your fans are willing and able to support your creative endeavours? You must take to the film director carreer path like a divine calling now. I sure would have. I'd love to see what you could do with a real film crew and cast. In fact, I'd put good money on a bet that you'd be able to take most ordinary film directors and critics by surprise.
