Book of Eli 3.5/5 It has some good themes, but also tries to copy some other rather shamelessly. But it is worthwhile because it is one of Denzel's better acting pieces.

Crikey! It could be one of them.. ah well.

Cool. But the comment about the poster is a bit misplaced, so allow me to break you in. System Shock was one of the first PC games to have a lot of spoken dialogue in the form of audio logs and 'live' transmissions. Example: Shodan is an AI. Througout the game she taunts you and challenges you by putting all sorts of obstacles in your way. Not unlike GLaDOS actually. Aside from a digital, virus-like projection in cyberspace, you never really see her, but she does have a few 'projections' that show up near the end of System Shock 2.
-
Haven't played it either, but I heard it has okay co-op play.

Shodan had no visual 'design' other than a few posters in the first System Shock game. Yet she's one of the most memorable characters of 90's video games.

Freeman's Mind Episode 38 getting it's ass kicked by Windows

I think it may help for you to utilize ReadyBoost... You just need some kind of USB jump drive, like a 2GB USB memory stick. Seems to speed up certain things that don't seem like they'd be affected by it. Hang on.. what are your actual virtual memory settings, before we advise you all sorts of programs? -
It might have been, I don't know. Haven't heard a thing about the aftermath of the incident, or if anyone got arrested. Only that his server and the mods he backed up on it aren't coming back. http://www.bz2md.com/smf/index.php?topic=3136.0

Acquaintance of mine got harrased a lot over the Internet. It got so bad that in the end someone figured out where he lived and trashed his car. Thoroughly fed up, took down his public server that hosted forums and rare mods for some older games. The people that were harrassing him weren't even into the subjects of his site and forums. They just decided that they didn't like him.

I agree. More over, it already had a glimpse of the tournament series in it. I had played Quake and such at the time, but it was Unreal that made me fall in love with the more athletic properties of First Person combat. I still play Unreal Coop sometimes with my girlfriend. She's not too bad.

Neat. His style reminds me a lot of Aaron Diaz, creator of Dresden Codak.
-
Heh, I doubt they'd go to waste. I've been known to ramble about '90s classics.
-
I'd give you a reputation point for that if I had one left to give. Unreal and I go back a long while.

Hm. It's possible I think, if you don't mind getting creative with cabling TV input (you would need the right hardware in laptop). I think the newer Windows support multiple screens, so you'd be able to switch from one to the other while treating the Xbox as a tv signal.. in some other program. VLC or Windows Media player might be enough for that. But you may want to see what the Linux community has for you. There are some Linux distros that turn your computer into a multi media station. You may find simpler solutions there (from which you can still run Windows on a partition or virtual machine, if you really need it).

Creativity, being rewarded for thinking out of the box the designers put you in. To put it simply, a game mechanic that is much more than the sum of its parts. Fallout 3 for instance allows you to create specific weapons from parts that you find on blueprints. But that's classical linear thinking. Imagine how different the game would be if any piece of scrap you'd find could be used. Tubes. Plating. Wiring. Boards. For weapons, for utility purposes.. anything. Make a radio from scratch. A waterboiler with a hat on it. Create a god damned shower. Garry's Mod + The Incredible Machine + Minecraft + any Open World game (I singled out Fallout because I like FWE). Add the Internet OR a mild, open story component and I might not ever want to leave. (MAJOR edit/addition following:) There is this Discovery TV series called The Colony, in which a group of people try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. It's both a social experiment and a test to see if what they know can help them survive for a few months. They figure out ways to purify water, preserve food, make shelter, rig up car batteries and ways to power them..and so much more. It's quite fascinating. We could do much better than having to 'mine trees'.

I chose it because it had a turd with green lightning shooting out of it.

Aren't you living in Poland now Ross? What's it like looking back at the US as an outsider now, thinking about things that no longer affect you as directly? I know how different and internationalized the European multimedia are compared to the US. It's like stepping out of a door only to find out it was a window.

Reload? It was actually mentioned he had brought enough ammunition and explosives to the island to take on a small army. He effectively bankrupted himself in order to get it all. Other than the people he traded supplies with, I do not believe there are other 'major' players in this besides himself. My arguments for that are that he *claimed to be an academic, but wrote terribly *almost got caught in his own explosion *was delayed in getting to the island, but still took so much time there that the even further delayed police were able to catch him *he planned to surrender, end up in prison - which might seem very marter-ish if it weren't for the fact he had some grave misconceptions about what would happen to him after that. Public hearings for everyone! Pick your own suit! He did however: *own a gun and knew how to shoot it *assembled materials for a bomb, using company names for cover *made the bomb but.. *guns aren't any more illegal in Norway than they are in the 'States, so it shouldn't be surprising he was able to get one, get practise at a school. It's a lot more harder to get the heavier automatics and such though, which is why he resorted to illegal trade. *using company names to take advantage of favourable taxation happens in Norway in more than one way. I don't see why he couldn't gotten have the idea from that. But is there really a more obvious way to let the world know you're making bombs? They already caught a copycat somewhere who planned to do the same thing, simply because he copied the same approach. Breivik gets kudos for being the first one to try it (if he really didn't get that off the internet someplace either), but he is far from a genious for having put the idea to practise. *I can find manuals on the Internet on how to make nerve gas from toilet cleaner and pesticide. You don't have to be super-handy for those things either. I don't mind.. screwing open a television to replace some parts, it's darned easy. Everything can be looked up, so if anything more people are becoming more practical now than before. Breivik spent nearly ten years on his own, so he had time to think things through. He was not a smart man, just a practical man with a lot of time on his hands. If he had received a lot of help from one or more accomplices over the past ten years, things would have been very different.

Can't count on provisions being available all the time. I know how to create and insulate a rudementary shelter, provide fire, drinkable water, storable rations and even electricity to whomever wants to come with me, which will be primarily women of course. I have never fired a gun before, so I'll settle for a widespread shotgun until I learn how to better hunt and protect myself. I have never skinned or butchered an animal before, but I have seen it done many times on fish. I'm guessing there will be a learning curve there. I'm not going to hole up in some apartment building, waiting to die alone. I'll try to live off the land, leaving any city far behind me until I start picking up radio stations again.

Caligula.. 5/5 Trailer. It's work-safe, but it depends on what kind of job you have.

Oh, weird. I thought this was about Ventrilo or something. Well.. I vented.
