Think, if a marine in combat armor wielding an SMG cam charging around the corner, would you really try to stop him? I'd be glad he didn't shoot me!

Damn you look badass.

What video series introduced you to Machinima?
JSF16 replied to Batman's topic in Machinima in general
Red vs. Blue for me. The only problem is that now most other machinimas suck ass in comparison. -
If you made a machinima, what would it be about.
JSF16 replied to devilk870's topic in Machinima in general
Well, I've already got a machinima in the advanced planning stage, though Gods knows when it will actually be made. I will be using Halo Reach/Halo 4/latest Halo title. TITLE: Captain and the Rookie GENRE: Humor/Adventure PLOT: Some time after the Human/Covenant war, insurrection broke out again on a scale larger than ever. A vast amount of the remaining human planets and military assets allied under a single banner against the UNSC. Bloody war broke out, and has raged for five years so far. On a remote outpost on a remote world in an even remoter system, a small UNSC outpost stands. Her crew is Delta 4-0 on paper, but is more commonly known as Dreg squad. Several dozen below-than-average soldiers entrenched a mile away from an equally unimpressive Rebel base. Most of the troops don’t know why they’re there, nor do they care. The biggest concern is usually the quality of whiskey from the still. Delta 4-0 has some unique oddballs amongst them for sure. Sergeant Johnson, a strange old soldier with a mysterious and brutal past with various shadowy military organizations. Larry, Johnsons old comrade-in-arms and resident pyromaniac, bat shit insane to a high degree. Then, one day, things start happening. Captain Mark Lawrence, retreating from the blasted remains of his own base, crashes near bye. With no evac coming for him, he assumes command. He has no idea the absolute vitality of his unit, or the secret they are there to protect. THE CAST: Captain Mark Lawrence: He’s bold, he tough, he’s loud, and that’s about it. A true-blue heroic soldier’s soldier, he fought a dozen battles and lost every one. His old outpost suffered an attack by Rebel forces who overcame defences in seconds before flooding the base and killing everyone. Captain managed to escape in a Falcon, which he didn’t know how to fly, and crashed after blowing out the engines in an attempt to shut off the radio. His strategic abilities, while brilliant on paper, are generally unfeasible and all upon unavailable resources and human shields. He harbors a deep hatred for Private Fisher on grounds of him being “Too normal.” Sergeant Johnson: John Jonathan Johnson, sold survivors of the infamous Johnson clan of mercenaries and born of Joana Johnson and John Johnson XXIII. Call him ‘JJ’ and he’ll rip your liver out. One of the best snipers alive, he’s a veteran of the rebellion, along with many other smaller conflicts, and is close friends with Pyro and Larry, the three being the only survivors of the mysterious Black Pyrrhus organization. Like the others, he is, to an extent, crazy with PTSD. Villick Kilagyo: Better known as Pyro due to a few solitary uses of arson during his short-lived crime spree. He despises the nickname and the reputation he is tagged with, often exclaiming wildly that Larry, an obvious pyromaniac, should have the title and not him. Pyro is of Trinidadian/Swiss origin. His backstory is complicated to say the least. He served with an ODST SOG unit during the opening of the Rebellion before quitting after he was declared officially dead. (His wallet was stolen, forcing him to cancel every piece of his identification) he eventually got his status back to life, just in time for him to accidentally rear-end someone on a highway after five shots of vodka. All five passengers had severe injuries and the ruling forced him to pay for their medical costs. After a month of this, he decided that bullets were cheaper and managed to anonymously murder three before being caught. By the Pope, who blackmailed him into service. The next ten years of his life were spent “Cleaning God’s earth of Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and other undesirables.” Following this all, he was blackmailed once again into another service, this time with the black operations unit Black Pyrrhus. What happened is uncertain, but out of the fifteen members not KIA/MIA; Pyro, Larry, and Johnson were the only ones not to commit suicide. He arrived at the base later in the show as part of the reinforcements sent in to help take the heavily fortified high ground held by the Jehovah’s Witness/Mime Military Coalition. Most of the reinforcements died in that bloody battle. After that, he mainly sits around the base making the most heinous moonshine known to man. Best friends with Johnson and, later, with Joseph. Joseph McClauffer: Close friends of Pyro. Found later in the series being chased by the police. Pyro scared the cops off and took Joseph to their base where he stayed to due to the lack of an explosives expert. When asked why he was on the run, he admitted to constructing and selling bombs to terrorists, by accident though. He has access to a seemingly inexhaustible supply of ordinance, including nuclear warheads. He also possesses a PhD in chemistry, much to everyone’s surprise. “Why are you all so surprised?” He says. “I make bombs for a living.” Joseph is quite focused on his jobs, and usually fails to think ahead at all. This is evident in his various contraptions, including the car-theft security system which detonated the fuel tank. Private Jonathan Fisher: Totally, utterly, and completely, normal. He came from an average family and got average grades. He’s a good soldier, but not really good. He’s a good shot, but not great. He’s a smart guy, but not that smart. In fact, his only outstanding ability is a complete lack of ability to drive any vehicle anywhere, and to always rear-end the same guy every time. He is the object of most of Captains ribbing and murder attempts, which he undergoes haplessly. The various health Inspectors: Four health inspectors have been killed by the Dregs, three of those four were killed after nagging them to clean up the body (or bodies) of the previously killed health inspectors. -
Hell no bullying's not handled properly. At least, not in all schools. My old school, you could get into a bloody fight with someone, and then get punished with an 'action plan' stay in for the recess and write down what you did wrong, what you should've done, and what you'll do next time. It never made a rat's ass difference.

Gun control? Yes to an extent. We can't just be giving any yahoo a firearm, they should display a very professional understanding of both the gun and the consequences of using said gun. They should need a license of course and should properly care for their guns, if you have kids in the house don't leave bullets and guns laying around, but keep them locked up securely and make sure your kids know about them. I'm really not sure about automatic weapons, I mean, what do you need an automatic weapon for except for heavy-duty combat? Handguns are semi-auto's are OK in my book, shotguns too.

I hail them for their great work, good going fellows!

Why is he scared of muppets? Because they're fracking muppets! Look! Is that not the face of terror?

Freeman's Mind Episode 38 is good, although not as good as previous episodes due to the game sections lack of action. I eagerly anticipate episode 39.
-
Leonard Church, Red vs. Blue They're both have no friends, probably won't make any, have had girlfriend trouble, and hate almost everything.
-
Oooh, sorry. I already have a special place in my heart for a favorite Machinima, and Red vs. Blue currently lives there.
-
We think Kweebo makes and excellent point, and we're going to try and work on that.
-
I, like many, have been inspired by Freeman's Mind and now wish to create my own. I first considered doing another FM, call it 'Gordon's Thoughts' or some BS like that. However I am now considering trying a completely different game with a completely different take, namely Halo: Combat Evolved. The grand events of the game will unfold through the narration of one very confused super soldier as Carl tries desperately to figure out how he got in this weird armor and why he's fighting aliens, and of course the mystery of what the hell he did last night. Feedback anyone? Does this have a germ of hope in it, or does it sound doomed to be lost in the annals of youtube?
-
It makes sense that Ross considers FM not much of a challenge or a stimulation. However I frankly consider it to be his best work. I think CP is great, but I really just like Freeman's Mind the best. Just felt like saying that.
-
I sure HOPE he enjoys it, otherwise I'd feel like a demanding little bastard.

Ross Scott voice Gordon Freeman outside of FM?

Unless for some obscure reason he ended up with a shotgun which required voice-authentication from the user. -
What is Your Favourite Freeman's Mind Quote/Episode/Moment
JSF16 replied to Trickiert's topic in Freeman's Mind
To the zombie-scientists: "You do that! God, you two are creeping me out. "Come play with us, Gordon. Forever... and ever... and ever..." Other greats: "Give peace a chance! Or at least stand still!" "New Yorkers talk like they're all big and bad, I bet they don't deal with half of this shit in the subway! [gunshots] I think if I ever hear someone complain about their commute again, I'm just gonna punch them in the face. My drive home is worse than yours!" "Anyway, my background doesn't fit the profile. No military training, never fired a gun, acquitted for petty theft, not a member of any extremist organizations, has a PhD in theoretical physics. Yeah, that sounds like our man!" "Well, here we are back in New Mexico on the laser corral roundin' up aliens so we can...Well, I don't know what we're gonna do with 'em. [Looks at dead zombie] Space varmints!" "Okay, I see an alien and a dead body. I can put one and one together. [shoots at the bullsquid] Actually, that's one and negative one. [shoots again, killing it] Now it's negative two, and me. But wait, wouldn't I be number one? I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. See, this is why you have to define your terms. If you don't, people die." -
Or he might just spend part of the episode in a hole crying.

With the exception of stuff like the rocket launcher, the pulse rifle and the GravGun, all the weapons are real ones. The HK USP Match and MP7, the Franchi Spas-12 shotgun, the revolver, those are all realistic.

Ross, please don't neglect Civil Protection...
JSF16 replied to Michael Archer's topic in Civil Protection
As long as I have a steady stream of Ross Scott machinima, I'm happy. Freeman's Mind or Civil Protection, they're both absolutely amazing and I'm happy as long as either or both keep getting produced. Good work Ross! -
Of course they are, they just add a bit more spice to it. I enjoy the MW2 and BO single player, though frankly the campaigns pretty absurd. Russia invades? Really? they just cross the entire friggin' ATLANTIC OCEAN without NATO seeing them? America gets screwed up and the UN's just like "Sucks to be you." And don't even get me STARTED on the SOVIETS taking over another COUNTRY let alone AMERICA/rant. Multiplayers way the hell to unbalanced, but Barebones Pure is fun.

Now I love both Black Ops and Halo reach, I consider them both excellently made games. Long story short here, I’m going to review and compare them both to each other. Let the clash of the titans, begin! Halo Reach: Bungies last hurr-ah to Halo is fantastic, nothing less. I really love this game, it’s got one of the best campaigns of the series and the online multiplayer is something other games can only dream of. Campaign: This game definitely gave the player a better connection to the player than before. As Noble Six, fighting alongside Noble team against the Covenant during the Fall of Reach I felt quite closely connected to him, the incredible armor customization helped for sure. The story wasn’t phenomenal itself, though far from bad. Well-written, it has a few twists to it and the ending is really shocking and awesomely dramatic. However I didn’t quite get a sense of total tragedy, of fighting a lost cause against impossible odds, not to the extent I had hoped. The characters didn’t really help a huge amount, despite attempts to humanize them they were still largely emotionless killers, rather devoid of humanity. Carter, the boring and emotionally dead commander, Kat was better but I never really got attached. Jorge, same thing although he exhibited more personality that the others. Jun was my favorite for sure, and Emile was fun, but faceless and more robot than human. Game play is phenomenal, best vehicle controls of any game bar none for sure. Controls are easy to learn, fluid and effective. The addition of armor abilities is really awesome (Jet pack in the air as an elite sword charges you, it’s fun!) I know some people have whined that Halo stole from CoD with sprint and to those people I can truly and honestly say, shut up. Using a concept which is very sensible (Super soldier should be able to run) is not a lack of creativity. Besides plenty of games before CoD had sprinting (Half-Life 2) Oh, and this game has some of the mot cunning and dangerous AI conceived. Elites will roll and duck for cover, recharge their shields, dodge your attacks and throw grenades with deadly aim. Gotta love the multiplayer and the armory idea, fantastic! New gametypes are wicked (Invasion FTW!) and the basic, wild and zanily fun multiplayer trademark of Halo is better than ever in Reach, especially with some awesome Halo 2 remakes (Hooray for Blood Gulch!) Now one of my favorite aspects of Reach is, without a doubt, the sheer creativity implemented in it, particularly the Forge. Nothing else can equal it (Excluding Garry’s Mod) and it is so simple to get the hang of and learn more about. You want to create a fantastic elaborate floating city? Sure! A giant cannons that shoots ATVs are a pile of explosives? Why not? Or even just spell out you name in the sky with street cones, its all fun! But of course what is a good map without a good game? Modify the load outs, player traits, vehicle traits, and physics. You want to jump three hundred percent higher, run twice as fast with an instant-kill golf club? It’s all your choice. This extends to firefight where you can fight waves of enemy soldiers. Choose what kind of enemies are in each wave, their difficulty, what kind of challenges you want added to the game and when, your traits, physics, etc. It’s all yours! Me and my friends will often run around like idiots, surrounded by hunters while we jump high in the air and shoot unlimited pistol ammunition, it’s all great fun! A good, solid campaign, unparalleled multiplayer where your imaginations the limit, Reach is definitely the best game of 2010. Call of Duty: Black Ops This game is great to be sure. The campaign is fun and the plot is well-though out and very intense at times, although the game play is so narrow I don’t really care to replay it. Gameplay wise, it’s almost the same, if not the same, as the last couple of CoD titles. You can sprint, knife, go down the sights, etc. Most of the interesting new assassinations from behind are scripted, a pity. Multiplayer-wise, it’s a blast. I really enjoy sometimes just squeezing off a few shots and dropping someone, as opposed to hosing down their shields first like in Halo. The class-creation is great as always, I do enjoy that you can’t take a shotgun/SMG as a secondary gun now (I also think the whole CoD money thing seems a little suspiciously similar to Reach’s) Although the matchmaking system is messed up. I don’t like how it will dump you into a game in progress, especially if the game is almost over and/or you’re on the loosing side. And when it gets you started, often it seems it just picked people at random, mixing Level 70s, 60ss and 50s with 10, 9, and 20s. Why? The maps are fun, except Hanoi which I find too stressful and generally annoying. Speaking of stress though, after about two hours of this game I really must get off and play something less stressful like Team Fortress 2. Zombies is back and great as ever, although The Theater map is too big in my opinion, and way too dark, literally. I want to see my enemies! Personally, I’ve always liked the original Cod WaW maps the best. A major gripe I’ve always had with CoD has been some of the killstreaks. Really? A computer controlled helicopter? Why not grab some free kills; no skill needed just sit back while the computer does it all. Thus, I usually play Pure Barebones which is fun, despite the loss of equipment with everything else. Combat training is fun, but gets dull fast. The AI are pretty stupid, Reach has far better. And even on the Easy difficulty they can really annoying accuracy when throwing grenades. But after half an hour of combat training it becomes too simple. Point, shoot. Done. Repeat. Then of course the nearly complete lack of all but basic game customization is a real shame, so much potential lost. So I’m going to sum it all up: Soundtrack: Halo Reach wins, no fight Sound effects: While the Reach guns sound better than before, Black Ops has better sound for weapons. The guns roar and scream in your hands, give you a sense of real power. Gameplay: Close call, but CoD hasn’t really changed the game play. Reach’s new armor abilities and awesome assassinations give it the edge here. Storyline: Black Ops, more originality here, though it's pretty ridiculous (SOVIETS INVADE LOL!) Multiplayer: Very close, but Reach wins. New game types are great, the armor abilities gives everything a new twist which is awesome, and a far superior matchmaking system gives it the win. Creativity: Reach, hands down. Lasting appeal: I would say Reach because Black Ops, while it’s multiplayer is great; the multiplayer and zombies is the only real replay value while Reach has Firefight, Forge and Multiplayer. Community and updates: Reach again, Bungie has shown to be one of the best game companies in the field of listening to the community and reacting. A certain game on a certain map is hated, and it is removed. Already multiple updates had been made with more to come. I love both games a lot, though I really just have to go with Halo Reach.
