  1. Oh, can't wait to check the log. Or even better! LIVE-from Ross Scott apartaments. Like Garry's mod... I guess...
  2. "I'm on neverending quest to finish Freeman's Mind" For those who have seen "Drawn Together"
  3. You have made your solid point Mister! I must agree with your comparison. I tend to recognize Freeman as Dr.House from time to time, and sadly House is over. And FM is alive and kicking I'm glad I can post my opinion and have high chance of you reading and considering stuff I say. Sad it might seem, but money can make sure something will me done just in time. Maybe its off topic, but hay, it's faster then PM, i guess ^_^.
  4. Yeah, let's keep saying how awesome the show is, it may seem weightless, but if stacked, "Great job"s, give a damn warm feeling in Ross' heart that is one of the many reasons to keep filming. Hail Ross Scott
  5. Well, I request nickchange to DayDreamer, if it isn't taken. Thanks
  6. well thank you You never know which of your ideas posted here may actually be used to improve something and which won't
  7. Well, subj. Is feedback 5.1 or 2.0? Would be interesing field to experiment on, like separating screams and thoughts to front and back speakers. Also would like to suggest some additional effects like really low "WHOOOOOF" that makes your subwoofer vibrate the floor. Or the hum...of that thing... you know, the laser Move me if I'm in the wrong forum, the post
  8. 2Ross Make them think...well that's a game changer.. (your own quotes ^^) I can understand you from angle of gathering experience and growing alltogether... Quantity... quality... As a president is a slave to people under him, you might consider being a slave to the fans and the Accursed Farms. No offence of course. From my point of view, as a fan, dozen FM episodes weigh more than one movie. May be there is a way to even out time spend time more efficient by delegating even more parts to people which have proven themselves "trusted". And to big and complicated projects I can add only one thing, there is a rule - Spend 5 to 10 percent of estimated time to prepare for the deal before starting doing it. Bugfix research and possible alternatives, bunch of additional people you can rely on. You know how that goes. Those are my humble opinion on the matter. Have fun
  9. Perfect, like it, also would love to see time breakdown for every episode in future ^_^ As a matter of fact I'd hire Ross, if I had a movie project going on. Oh boy. What if it could me like FM month, then CP month, then something else month. So we wouldn't have to scream all round for new episode in each forum. I have hoped to see dam from BM:S but what can you do with this free mod. Now once again starting to grow anticipation for next ep and hoping not to get crazy, as many here do. By the way, why is ross avoiding blowing explosion crates, tanks, stuff up? p.s. Such a long pause between episodes actually made me forget about FM at all, which is clearly not a good thing. Loosing fans an so. But I'm glad I've subscribed to the news here :Р Way to go!
  10. Excuse me but i thing instead of "big wads" Scott said "being lost" please recheck this moment
  11. The selected attachment does not exist anymore. The file ./../files/1745_cafae6e69bcd8e329acae14c2055fc2f does not exist.
  12. From my exp. hiccups are even more disturbing(for freeman)/hillarious(for us), when they interrupting lines like Are you cr...*hiccup*...zy!!?! that would be even more realistic p.s. I'm glad FM didn't die like some other minds just because something happened
  13. Hi Ross, I'm pretty satisfied with MoCap you've done. Thumb up! Little thing about it - it doesn't look good if person while idling moves its hands,feet,head...but torso or pelvis is dead-frozen But i'm sure you already know what i'm talking about. Nice Ep! Way to go! p.s. I'd like to have PM from you about engine you'll be using and some help needing.
  14. 2Ross As the question now is - what is most bugfree and compartible-with-everything platform is, it becomes very critical to find one designed or ment to fulfill your wishes. So we have some landmarks like: As I don't know your workflow I can't point direction to go I'd choose. My master plan is - prepare everything you will need properly and well thought through. Yes, I'm aware it can take month(!). And then let your creative beast out and have to big troubles whatsoever as you know where lies the tool you need at that particular moment. No worries, no pixar quality, no pixar time. But nice cozy corner of love and..your fav colour i guess In short: Go and try out what Pros use, get the standart for moviemaking today, and then you get overview of what you gain and what you loose by substituting parts with premade/generated stuff. And THAT gives you ability to objectivly judge pros and cons. One wise man said: You should always spend 10% of whole project's time - planning it. fix this mod plz, I can't get it right somewhy, thx. Sincirely your Fan
  15. Way to go! Let's help out! Let's DO something Useful! NOW!
  16. This attitude is way to go. Concentrated creativity! I think everyone here agrees that's the key of AccFar popularity. Making one episode at a time, instead of ten in the same amount of time, but not better then most of "could be better" machinimas.
  17. I think it's the right place to spill the word of mine [Apologise, if I use strange terms, from Russia, with love and so on ] I "thubms up" your desicion to change engine for something else. Leader today sofar I know is Unreal. With plenty room for machinimizing and creating videos, though I've never heard of frame-by-frame Source like capturing tech, it offers damn big opportunity to make pictures or movies in the head come true. The main scripting there is fairly simple, so even non programmer get is quickly. Cameras work nicely. Also the ability to script scene is awesome...like well...flickering lightbulb made only with one 3ds max tube and some mask for better appearance. 10 mins scripting and there you go. Still this zone is more limited then the next one. Pixar Pixar, maaaaybe, there is a better way getting away from GamingEngines for 3d apps like Cinema or Max or Maya. As far as I'm concerned, there is no suvere change in complexity of "behind the scene's" work. Anyway YOU have to: create[or steal ) ] a stage, characters, animations presets and so on. But! There are tons of tutors, tons of sliders, numbers and other setting you can tweak. In my experience, all the bugs I get while working in 3dsMax or Zbrush, is 10% soft bug, 20% out of RAM (fixed with 64x bit Win),70% hands growing out of my butt (incompetence). For example as I made my first skeleton for animation I recognised the elbows are bending in the wrong direction after it was too late, and I had to redo everything after elbows again...and again good thing i had a save just before getting to them. So it's like a house, if you use spoiled bricks here and there everything will eventually piss you off But skill comes with it...sometimes... and some people call it "The Joy of learning!"... I never understand what is so cool about it....... Aaaanyways, sorry for offtopic. The real difference to me between 3d stuff and Game Engine is a style. Every rendering software leaves its touch. So every decent gamer can tell which engie the game or machinima is using. So it's mainly up to you to choose the direction, whether it is reality, cartoonity, machinimity or blend between them. You can do something Off charts like pencil drawing using 3d models, or Bad Apple (use YouTube). As a matter of fact, CivPro characters may fly over to a new engie, sure, different appearance, still all we are familiar with and their names, voices, and behaviour patterns, which allows to transfer them to about any world without making fans feel bad about CilPro dying, instead of ReBirthing! ps I can help with some 3d modelling if you need one. pps I started to hate Source engine after being inspired by Galaxy Gulp and failing to replicate anything even close to it due to bugs
  18. Hm... By the way.... This little FM project may grow actually into "LitFuse production" where Ross "hires" people who would build levels and make animation and the story goes on and on! And that's a good use of donated money aka "NAZI GOLD" DO YOU HEAR ME ROSS? :3
  19. I'm glad that redistribution of workhours is applying here, in other words - if more people are helping out, you can concentrate on the core of FM - text, style, voice
  20. Hay guys. Let's know our heroes! As far as i know currently more then one person are working on FM. So let's make here Hall of Fame with links to people's profiles. Ross Scott - Head of FM and Video Editor Otto Beumelburg - Audio Editor Steven Gosling - Second Audio Editor Colton Rappe - Intro p.s. created this post because I don't wanna bother Ross with unneccesary email and don't really have a clue where can I find you guys
  21. that's just a tiny bit strange - first shoot then think. I'd first play, then think and write scenario and only then shoot and after that speak. One logical way is shoot 40 seconds and voice it, and another 30 seconds and so on.... yea it would be so stupid to have 40 seconds episodes ^_^
  22. Waaait a second - filming is 3/4 complete while Dialogue bar is 1/3 complete... how does this work? First film then develop what to say...or first write scenario and only then film and after that record audio dialogue
  23. Let's not get too far too fast. It is half a year until we will see last episode of FM. There is plenty of time to think of ending of FM... which has to be great. There is just so much room for +100500 endings. By the way, What IF! instead if HL2 we will see HL1 mods like Barney or Opposing Force... would be strange to hear Barney speaking with Ross' voice but fans of current style of the game engine would love that
  24. Tomorrow will me one month from the last release. That's why I suggested for our glorious leader to stop releasing vids for couple of month, get a stack of them, and only then release each episode, on the same time, once a week.... so we all can write our angry letters to machinima.com for delaying our great series. Or, Maybe, just maybe, it is possible to upload vids to machinima, get processed and then release them Mondays at 6 PM. Of course, there is a solution for "shaking from detox" from Freeman's Mind - simple forget about it for a year, and delete every link and every friend from your IM and memory, so you can re-discover all the goodies there would have been made. Don't wanna you to get me wrong and aggresive. But isn't it good for all of us? I'm speaking about not releasing and then 1vid at a week releasing system.
  25. I see your point Just too many fans to be able to say - everybody want only this and nobody else does
