Hi Julie, I'm not sure I understood you correctly, but you can find most english (original) subtitles on Ross's page or on mine. You can download the french subtitles from my webpage or our respective thread on this forum. All those files are in .srt (a subtitles format containing text and timing information), which can be opened with any text editor (e.g. notepad). I hope that helped you. For the record, I'd be ok with it

Some remarks: - This is quite trivial, but you never put spaces before exclamation and interrogation marks ("!" and "?"), when they are mandatory in written french (Wikipedia article about it). - You didn't translate the military gibberish on radio. You can find a transcription here : http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/43362-half-life/faqs/29847 - At 00:05:27,112, the english line is (I believe) : If somebody's grandma has called and puts on a camo blanket, she's dead. which would translate to Si la grand-mère de quelqu'un appelle et met une couverture de camouflage, elle est morte. I've also spotted some grammatical errors, I'll try to list them all tomorrow.

[Edit] I corrected the lines with danielsangeo's suggestion. Feel free to also check the rest of the file, english isn't my first language so there might be some mistakes. [Edit] Ok, it's finished (I updated the attached file), and I got two more lines to check : - 00:06:22,834 : Like if I could herd a cow in here, would it be able to lift it all up and eat it? - 00:07:07,643 : I was expecting some shitty drummer practicing or (Also corrected by danielsangeo) [Edit 2] Updated to version 3 (corrections by danielsangeo).

I changed it to "boirais" (sorry about that awful mistake...), but I'm not sure about your "slang" translation. I think the current one is fine. Please continue with the constructive criticism! However I think I'll keep one thread for the moment, as I'm not overwhelmed by comments and suggestions yet

(I'll answer in french) Je n'aime pas trop la manière dont tu gères les phrases qui se superposent (c'est très difficile à suivre je trouve), mais j'imagine que tu n'avais pas le choix vu que tu partais d'un fichier de base. Aussi, tu as parfois mis des tirets alors qu'une seule personne ne parle, ce qui n'est pas très utile. Sinon, j'aime bien chipoter sur des détails, donc certaines remarques vont peut-être te sembler exagérées -Qui a dit ça?!? Je n'aime pas trop l'exagération de signes de ponctuation, surtout quand ça ne se justifie pas vraiment (comme ici). Aussi, en français il faut mettre une espace avant les "?" ou les "!" (preuve par Wikipedia : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponctuation#Les_espaces_autour_des_signes_de_ponctuation_.28r.C3.A8gles_actuelles.29) Je ne savais pas que j'étais AUTANT en retard! Encore une fois c'est juste mon avis, mais je n'aime pas trop l'idée de mettre des mots en majuscules au milieu d'une phrase quand ça n'apporte pas grand-chose. Il faut que je m'achète une montre. Je suis encore en période d'essai. "on probation with the company" ne désigne pas vraiment une "période d'essai", si je comprends bien c'est plus une mise sous surveillance après avoir fait plusieurs gaffes. -Bzzt! Encore un détail, mais je ne trouve pas ça utile de traduire les onomatopées, ça distrait plus qu'autre chose. Ca fait partie de la visite. Le "ç" (c cédille) majuscule est obligatoire, je t'en donne un gratuit à copier-coller : "Ç" Ca a fait exploser un transformateur et tomber le courant sur tout le campus. je trouve que "ça a fait (...) tomber le courant" n'est pas très clair. Cet écureuil à dû coûter(...) pas d'accent sur le "a" C'etait une bonne journée. un accent sur le "e" de "était" Hein, ils parlent encore de recrutement? J'ai l'impression que Freeman est plus ennuyé qu'étonné (donc le "hein" n'est pas vraiment adapté) Attendez que l'officier de sécurité aie vérifié votre identité. La conjugaison n'est pas mon fort donc je peux me tromper, mais ce ne serait pas "que l'officier aiT vérifié" ? Voilà ! C'est tout ce que j'ai vu. Il y a aussi certains endroits où je ne suis pas entièrement d'accord avec ta traduction mais là ça relève plus de la préférence personnelle. J'espère que je ne t'ai pas découragé

Yep, that makes much more sense! But I can't find the "official subtitles" for Episode 1 you're mentioning. Are you speaking about this ? If so, they aren't approved by Ross yet and I can't hear the word "drink" in the video, so maybe the actual line is a bit different. But anyway, the booze part is definitely here, so I changed it to : Ouais, c'est ça, je buvrai une bière ici si ça me chante ! (Anyone know a good way to keep the "extra strong" idea in french ? "bière forte" doesn't seem natural to me...)

(I'll answer in french) Salut, c'est chouette de voir que je ne suis pas le seul motivé pour faire des sous-titres français Petite précision : j'ai déjà traduis tous les épisodes qui avaient des sous-titres anglais officiels, sauf le 27(mais je pense qu'il serait mieux de faire les sous-titres "dans l'ordre" de toute façon). Je ne pense pas qu'il soit très efficace de passer par une phase "texte brut" et d'ensuite le transformer en sous-titres. La partie la plus longue et ennuyeuse du sous-titrage est pour moi la synchronisation, donc je commence par cette étape et en même temps j'écris le texte en anglais (pour ne pas avoir à traduire et synchroniser en même temps). Bien sûr si des sous-titres existent déjà ça fait gagner du temps (même si j'aime bien quand même retravailler la synchronisation dans ce cas). Je n'ai pas encore commencé le sous-titrage de l'épisode 15 mais je compte m'y mettre bientôt, si tu as envie de m'aider contacte-moi

(please excuse my imperfect english) As I've explained in my topic in the french subtitles subforum, I've made english subtitles for the episodes between 1 and 14 which didn't have them available. I would strongly suggest checking them as english isn't my native language, but I think they are a good start. I used parenthesis for the intercom in episode 1 and square brackets for the parts where I wasn't sure of my transcription.

Hello, everyone! My native language is french (obviously), so please excuse my imperfect english. I began working on french subtitles for Freeman's Mind (which I really love) in 2010, when my subtitles for Episode 10 were approved and added to (with a messed up timing, I don't know what went wrong). I translated other episodes and sent them but didn't receive any answers for a long time. It was really frustrating having the subtitles ready and not being able to share them, so I uploaded the subtitles (and the videos) on my own Youtube account (sorry!). I'll delete the videos immediately if you ask me to do it, I just wanted to bring the awesomeness of the show to french speaking people (and I've included a link to your website in each video). That being said, you can find all my french subtitles at this adress (it's mostly in french, but you should be able to find them), or directly in one .zip (which may not be up-to-date) file here. I hope you like them! Also, I prefer to make the timing before the translation, so I've made english subtitles for each video that didn't have them available on the website. You can download them on the same page but I would strongly suggest checking them (as you can see, my english isn't perfect).
