  1. I dunno, I thought the game itself was pretty awesome. I didn't need all the addons to enjoy it. But credits to Valve for making it highly customizable. It was great at first but by today's standards it felt like it was too easy even on hardest. So I said it's very good. You can take advantage of the goldsrc engine pretty badly like jumping on a zombie, it will just stay in the same poisiton motionless.
  2. One day a small unassuming orb decided to make his way to the bar at town's finest catwalk owned by Chinese people, who had glorious leader. Suddenly, a big nasty oval fell out of a mob spawner floating ominously above two crazy sluts in a car who just started to play Portal. The Chinese leader took a giant dump into the big mouth of a nearby dragon. He then sang like a tonedeaf cheesecake while hanging from the legs of small ornate brusselsprout in a tightly packed basket. After the dinner of the dragon

  9. To be honest I live in Kiev, some 110 Km from Pripyat. Beyond that, my mother often visited Chernobyl before the accident, she said it was a beautiful city. . . Then again I have to say that there is screaming children in Ukraine everywhere, not only in Pripyat. There's screaming children in Kiev occasionally, mostly because the people in Ukraine are extremely loud, and most people are outside during the day instead of inside, but sometimes because they are just drunk. At night You will hear loud drunk conversation from outside, usually a girl with some guy who is trying to win her back by yelling or something which I don't get, but in any way it's hilarious at some times and the ambient random yells outside always gets me to sleep. Anyway, I don't get why You want to go there, but sure, Ukraine recently made it a tourism centre. Go and get some of the radiation I've lived in for my whole life. I say it's a fail for tourists as everything interesting like huge raves, festivals, adventures, parties, sights happen in Kiev (And in Kazantipl) not at Pripyat where there is nothing.
  10. One day a small unassuming orb decided to make his way to the bar at EDIT: I used to play this with some buddies except it was one word story game. In the end we got some hilarious story about a cat who got raped...
  11. A Human is only a human in this world technically after he is registered in the birth certificate. Before the baby is born the woman shall do what she wants with herself. If she does "kill" (quotations for those who think the baby is not alive inside of her) her baby, the woman will most likely live in pain anyway. All my hate towards that action aside, all my hate towards the fact that abortion is one of the reasons Ukraine is a mere 1.3 birth per year country, I will persist to freedom, but personally I will probably not be friends with the person. Personally I also believe in other liberal stuff, like drugs for anyone, if a child will take drugs I will blame bad parenting not the laws. Basically freedom for all is what I believe, as long as You don't harm anyone else with your actions. We have 70 years of life, let the people enjoy them.
  12. I'm sorry, that is.... not going to be answered by me because it's.... extremely unscientific let's just say. I'm out of this topic for that reason. Trying to follow rule nr. 1 in forum rules here.
  13. Half-life 1 and it's addons easily, Those who never played and will never play the mods for Half-life I played will not understand my decision. The game itself is very good but It's the mods that make this game truly great. There's mods which will beat any game out there in their own category whether it is horror or online or coop shooter games. All the millions of mods come free with one fucking disc/buy. How about that.
  14. Lol, those questions don't just get answered in one sentence Those are schools of thought and nobody in the future on this topic should answer like that. The answers are not as simple as that and quite frankly at least write IMO, You are making fun of philosophy there....
  15. That's a stereotype.... who am I kidding lol, yeah it's mostly whites with money who do the promotion but... it makes clear the author is either black or inuit.
  16. You provided criticism with information. This whole topic may piss someone off, but I put my info out there and if someone disagrees let them reply in the scientific method and i will respect them no matter what. Overall I liked your post. About Pink though for example, don't you think art should be art, and if a person is christian and can sing about christianity somewhat, that shouldn't make him more popular then someone who isn't christian and sings about nonsense but sings a million times better. (For background, Personally I don't listen to Vocals/Singers much)
  17. They had nothing to do with the development, they only published it. Engine and game were made by iD Software. Yeah, and they didn't make Blake Stone either, I think some developer called JAM-something did that. But one thing Apogee/3D Realms can take credit for is creating Duke Nukem. Wow, apparently not even that. Sorry folks, from now on I'm donig more research about the games I play. 3d Realms and Apogee are exactly like EA... except they published better games. http://www.3drealms.com/news/2006/03/the_apogee_legacy_12.html http://www.3drealms.com/legacy.html And then they failed on Duke Forever, I change my mind to: 1. Valve 2. GSC Game World 3. Id Interactive 4. Blizzard 5. Infogrames
  18. No no, you should post your new question in a new post, not edit the old one to change its content like that, as it just makes things confusing for people reading the thread if they haven't quoted the original post (which I fortunately have in this case). Anyway, Garry's Mod easily wins out in terms of modability, but that's not really something which should be compared here as Minecraft isn't about different gamemodes and addons. So I'll instead draw comparisons at the basics. With Garry's Mod you can construct contraptions and things that do things in the map, but the map/world itself is static. Minecraft's world is not; there are dynamically spawning NPCs, random tree placement, biomes, recently added weather, etc. In addition the world itself is of infinite size (well relatively, provided your system resources can handle it if you went for an insane distance). With Garry's Mod you spawn what you need as you want to build it. With Minecraft you have to work for your creations. You have to mine the resources to build the tools to mine further resources to construct what you wish (such as a dwelling to sleep the night). Furthermore, along with standard harmless NPCs, at night monsters come. You can fight them, or you can hide and wait for daylight (although these can be turned off by changing the difficulty if you wish to build in peace at night). Garry's Mod wins out in terms of physics, but Minecraft's retro style make highly realistic physics generally unnecessary. Creations for Garry's Mod can be much more complex than Minecraft's due to its physics and also due to the fact that Minecraft is limited by its block based gameplay when compared to Garry's Mod, however in general I would say that Minecraft's block nature it not really a limitation once you've experienced it. It's part of what makes the game nice. Anyway, it occurs to me that there's rather a lot to compare, is there anything in particular you want compared? EDIT: It would seem there is now a demo. You can make infinite new worlds, but can only spend a maximum of 90 minutes on each one before it locks. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/04/19/download-the-minecraft-demo/ http://dl.pcgamer.com/minecraft_pcgdemo.exe Thanks for that response, oh and actually I changed the question while You were typing the answer because I didn't see Your response yet when I finished... sorry about that anyways.
  19. lol, did You just answer Yourself?... lol Anyways, there is another game based on the build engine, it was some Japanese Ninja style game, but I never liked Japanese related games... Except Shogun: Total War. That's ok.
  20. Pop Culture, I made a thread about it in civilization problems
  21. All of this reminds me of how great Half-life really is.
  22. Thanks for the tip. If it's DOSBox compatible, I'll try it out. Actually it's made in 2002.
  23. Valve - Due to known Classics and modding community. GSC Game World - Cossacks is my favourite strategy game, also they made American Conquest, and Stalker. Apogee/3d Realms - Wolfenstein, Blake Stone, Duke... Lots of other stuff we forget, pre 2000's. Blizzard - Controversial I don't like any of the Warcraft series (Including Wow) just the GSC rework called Warcraft 2000: Nuclear Epidemic (Where You can have up to 8000 orcs and humans fighting XDDD) but I do have a soft spot for Starcraft and Diablo is also decent. Infogrames - Common Guys, I can't believe You forgot this one. Alone in the Dark 1, 2, 3, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Civilization 3...
  24. @Alyxx If You like Monkey Island 2, try Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths, it's similar to that in graphics and it has a funny story line.
  25. I recently played Bulletstorm and I was amazed at the level of detail in the textures, the backgrounds and the cutscenes. The game felt both gritty and dark at places and bright and colourful as well. I would still call that art even if a lot of it is code and stuff. I would rather see the beauty in both old and new games rather than say one thing is better than the other, because in the end it just boils down to your personal preferences. I will check it out, I'm an optimist about this. I shall also mention (If You misunderstood) that in no way I want the 2d Graphics back. I know we are still in the transitional phase of making this 3d thing work beautifully. I'm sure future games will be much better graphics wise. I'm just not liking it too much so far. To understand fully what I'm saying, Compare the wallpaper of your game (2d Graphics) to a screenshot of Your game (3d Graphics). You will notice what I'm talking about.
