  1. Poiuyt, are you a conspiracy theorist? I agree--the passengers really are heroes. They would be ashamed of their families. I think we're still at war because of both war presidents' failure to recognize the identity of the enemy (e.g. Bush saying "Islam is peace", Obama saying "Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader") and their altruistic war policies (e.g. letting our boys needlessly die because god forbid we hurt civilians). You're right that the terrorists will fight to the last man--but this is nothing new; Imperial Japan was about to arm every man, woman and child to die for their emperor despite their decisive defeat at Okinawa. Fortunately, President Truman gave the order and showed the Japanese what was the end result of their death-worshiping culture and just what happens when someone fucks with America. Not only did he show the impotency of their culture--thus destroying their ability to wage war--he showed the world that America's retaliation was a fact of nature: if you throw a ball, it will stay in motion until an unbalanced force acts on it; if you listen to music too loudly, you go deaf; if you touch America, you get vaporized. I don't think evil is measured by quantity i.e. an act of war is an act of war, no matter how many lives were lost. Even if you don't agree, keep this in mind: the 9/11 attacks killed more Americans than the attack on Pearl Harbor. What's the point of having nukes if you're not going to use them? We need a war president like Lincoln or Truman.
  2. Hard to believe it's been ten years. Ten years later, most people still remember what they were doing when they heard. For me, I sat in the living room with my sister and my brother while my nanny told us that our parents flight were delayed because there were hijackers. Ten years later and thousands of lost lives later, we're still at war with no end in sight. I thought this short historical fiction was really, really cool. The eeriest thing about it was that it depicts our current situation as a crazy dystopia world--like something out of an Orwell novel. This thread is to talk about what the hell happened and what the hell is happening now. What were YOU doing when you heard? Why are we still at war? Will it ever end?
  3. Fucking Americans. Never mind that your country is the greatest achievement in all of man kind; never mind that your country was the first country in the world to be founded on the principle of individual rights in a world of collectivism; never mind that your country was the first country to recognize the fact that wealth was created i.e. you recognized that wealth was virtually limitless as opposed to a static quantity; never mind the fact that 19th century American capitalism increased the standard of living tenfold: Americans think they're the best at everything! Little American got a one mile kill? So cute! Canadian sniper Arron Perry had a confirmed kill of over 1.4 miles; a few days later, Canadian sniper Rob Furlong had a confirmed kill of over one and a half miles. Both men came from the same Canadian sniper squad. I'm just kidding; I love Americans--I'm one myself. It's just that Canadians get screwed out of history quite a bit--why is there no over dramatic documentary of Rob Furlong? Canada may be an inferior country in many ways, but not when it comes to snipers.
  4. I live in Canada, so my ponies come from TreehouseTV. The upside is that there are no commercials; the downside is that it doesn't air the new episodes at the same time as The Hub and it's a children's channel with retarded commercials and equally retarded shows. Is there any way I can watch the season premiere of season 2 on the Internet when it airs?
  5. I looked at all my previous posts; unless I'm blind, I don't think I ever said there was "peer-review evidence".
  6. Meh. If she won't marry him because of his name, she must not have been that into him then.
  7. That 1% case of condoms not preventing STDs is due to people not using them correctly.
  8. What's to regret? All he changed was his legal name; I imagine that his friends and family will still address him by his birth name. The only thing I can see that could be a problem is future employers not taking him seriously.
  9. Most insane brony ever. (excluding Cupcakes author) Never heard of him--I got the idea from this.
  10. Beginning from most liked: Defying Gravity from the Wicked OBC. Stars from Les Misérables (haven't decided on my favorite recording yet) Red and Black, also from Les Misérables
  11. I've come up with mental health diagnoses for all six ponies: Patient: Twilight Sparkle: confirmed Asperger Syndrome. Pinkie Pie: confirmed Tourette Syndrome. Applejack: possible Borderline Personality Disorder. Rainbow Dash: possible Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Rarity: confirmed Histrionic Personality Disorder. Fluttershy: confirmed Schizoid Personality Disorder.
  12. I looked back at the posts; I didn't say there was dissenting peer reviewed evidence.
  13. I've been playing A LOT of TF2 lately. I'm now loving the Your Eternal Reward knife now. Getting your first kill takes some patience, but once I get it I'm unstoppable.
  14. I knew instantly that Tara Strong did not sing for Twilight since Tara is also responsible for the incredibly grating voice of Timmy Turner.
  15. I was not aware you could change your name--how do I do this exactly? Too bad Rainbow Dash is already taken, GOD DAMN YOU.
  16. How would they define those, majority vote? Would there be a constitution? The theory of "competing governments/defense agencies" is absurd, no matter how you put it. Steve goes to Government A (Steve is a valued customer of Government A) and claims that Bob stole his wallet. Government A sends there police to Bob's door and says they're going to arrest him and take him down to their police station where he'll await trial. Bob responds that he's a customer of Government B and does not recognize the authority of Government A. What would happen? Here's a hint: whoever can use the most force wins. Remember that a government is an organization which provides a service; that service is to use force against men. I'll let you decide what a competition for force would lead to. Anyway, I think anarchists try to tell people that their system is a system of "freedom"--but to use force to get someone to do something they don't want to do in the name of "freedom" is absurd. I think the best way to deal with an anarchist like you is to say, "If you don't want to delegate your right to self-defense to a government, that's fine; that's your right. But if you try to initiate force on me, you can be sure my government will respond and punish you accordingly."
  17. I cannot see in any way how sex would be wrong. (The consenting adult kind of sex, anyway) It's only religious dogma that paints it as wrong.
  18. I think I've mentioned this before, but I want an M1 Garand. I have a hard time believing that a rifle that's only semi-automatic and can hold eight rounds would be illegal in Canada. Also, 1861 Springfield Rifle--those things are pretty.
  19. Today, I was wandering the halls of my high school when I stopped at the portraits of the 1991 graduates. I looked for a bit--and then I found her. A picture of a pretty young girl; underneath her picture, it said "T. Charendoff." You guys probably know her as the voice of Twilight Sparkle. I thought that was cool.
  20. Say "no." This can only happen with your consent. If it happens, it's because you let it happen.
  21. An arbitrary assertion, Flyingamerboy. As far as I know, no one knows how the universe came into existence. The best guess right now for the beginning of the universe is The Big Bang.
  22. Just a hunch.
  23. And how exactly is that a bad thing? Thats a bad thing because some people LIKE communism. So just because the US are afraid of it, they're gonna invade the country ? From what has happened the last 60 years thats a clear yes. So what? Communism means making the masses into slaves. It doesn't matter if there are a few nutjobs who like that; if some people don't want to be slaves, you have no right to force them. Are we talking about the same system? Communism is the system of altruism--the system that says that man has no right to exist for his own sake. Putting a gun to an individual's head and dictating the terms of their life, their work and their effort is immoral in every sense. There is no situation where this can be a good system.
  24. Mac OS 10.6.8. Is Windows 7 any good? I was thinking that my next laptop should be a windows machine. Mac is shiny and all, but what I need out of my computer really doesn't justify mac's price tag. EDIT: BTG, I think you need to update your signature; Macs have been able to right-click for a LONG time.
