  1. I'm making a "summarized" level of the White Forest Base in Half Life 2 Episode 2 (BSPs outland_11, 11a, 11b and hopefully 12 and 12a) by removing all the NPCs and Scene choreography and then copy-pasting the entities and brushes from all the different VMFs into one document in Hammer. However, I don't know how to copy-paste elements like that, or to export them. Anybody have ideas? Actually it's as easy as Copy-pasting. Copy elements, save and close VMF 1, open VMF 2 in the same Hammer session and paste. Copy pasting does not work inbetween different Hammer windows.
  2. Odd question, would people here consider a Garry's Mod webcomic a Machinima? does it fit the criteria?
  3. By the way, Crumpets are freaking awesome. They're like half waffles half pancakes that you eat like half toast half muffins.
  4. I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCESS.
  5. Valve likes to include every member of their community it seems, from casual modelers to map makers to people who want to buy their way to success to ASCII coders.
  6. Closure on Doug Rattman, eh?
  7. Later today I'll have some renders of the latest lighting stage of my Music Hall scene.
  8. Mythbusters is probably my favorite show, and one of the only ones I think is worth watching.

  12. I have lots of dreams involving water and family. Probably because I like nature, and family...
  13. I attend the British Columbia Institute of Technology, which has a T4 Fiber Optic connection, part of the Vanouver FiOI trunk. I can download all 9 GB of Team Fortress 2 in 15 minutes at school.

  17. I miss children shows that were on when I was a children. Arthur, Magic School Bus, Mr. Dressup, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, Bill Nye the Science Guy...
  18. But a large scale system like that probably wouldn't be accommodating for the highly developed and specially-adjusted requirements for shooter spaces (or indeed any spaces where creativity or calculation is required from the player, from puzzles to adventure) where visibility and player movement dynamics are paramount to whether the game is playable and/or fun, as well as lighting, specially designed for guidance, narrative or navigation. Let alone sequence triggers and NPC choreography and scripting. What practical use is it for in terms of video games that aren't simulation?
  19. I had fun. The Burnaby EA Studio is their nexus for Sports games development, so they have two gyms, a full soccer field, volleyball court and a building that is their dedicated recording space for Motion Capture, which is the largest MoCap studio in North America, possibly the world. They also have two starbucks, a large cafeteria and a library filled with tons of video games and movies for free "reference & research".
  20. I'd be down
  21. You really need to re-check your history about what happened during the crusades, what started them, and who and what started the killing... "Thou shat not kill." Is often taken to mean "Don't ever kill anybody for any reason", however that is not the way that the Catholic church, or any other Christian church that I know of interprets it. The Catholic church, so far as I've found, does not consider it a sin if you are defending someone. (including yourself, someone that will be killed in the future, etc.) You state that like a fact when in actuality it's a generalization at best- I would call it conjecture as well as a personal opinion.
  22. An engine like that would only be necessary for a game that would need it, such as Aircraft simulation.
  23. Reminds me of that Calvin & Hobbes strip where Calvin asks where babies come from and his father replies they bought him on a sale. Poor kid came from K-Mart.
  24. Wasting time until 12:40 when I leave for school. The texturing class teacher has arranged for a tour of the EA Games studio in Burnaby. In addition I'm getting advice from a German friend for the conversion of Maya models into Source Engine compatible models, and in return I link him to videos of a group of highly organized gamers who do teamwork based idiotic hilarity in simulation video games.
  25. Definition of postulate: To assume without proof, or as self-evident; take for granted. In other words, they have no proof... Postulate means differently than what I thought it meant then.
