The problem isn't that it's a long fic, but how there isn't really any progression. It's a million words long, yet it doesn't feel like there's been any real progress with the whole 'Project Horizons' thing since we found out about it. The overall goal is there, and yes they are working towards it, but at this point almost every chapter is a sidetrack. Project Horizons is one of the greatest stories I've ever read, and the characters are amazing, but I only encounter the main plot every other chapter at best. I don't think we've had a single chapter devoted directly to their overall mission since Sanguine's last appearance (Maybe 52 is different, I haven't read it yet). Funny, that's kind of how an actual Fallout game plays out if you think about it. 95% sidequests until you manage to stumble onto the final story mission. Doesn't seem to translate into a story as well as it does a game though, unfortunately.

Total approximate wordcount as of Chapter 52: 1,047,898 At this point, I get the feeling that he'll somehow manage to get in a trip to the freaking post-war Crystal Empire before this is all done with.
