Would you be saying that 15 years ago? It's just as bad as it was, 15 years ago. Except it's 15 years later, and the new millennium brought Saw.

This game is amazing. The second I bought it, I went into the fight with my Marvel VS Capcom 3 fightpad and instantly would be doing combos I haven't done in well over 10 years (MKU3, from when I was like 8.) I love every second of it, but the violence doesn't faze me...so I'm thinking I've been fairly desensitized The other games you listed aren't remotely on the level of this Saw-esc universe.. so I'd try the demo on PS3 if you can, or just watch some streams and see if it's for you! I bet if it was on the wii, it would have a violence option, which would be perfect

This was such an amazing game. I just built myself a new computer (out of two year old parts, actually) and with 2 gigs of ram DDR2 it actually ran at max. My old computer from 2003 didn't even run Portal that good in 2007, so it was fantastic for me to actually be playing it at full detail. I like what they did with the story the most, I think, and I think it's so crazy how one little spoiler can change or fully ruin the experience of when that part of the story occurs. I have not really played a game where that's happened. Portal happened for me just out of Kotaku saying this game came with the other two games I'd wanted to get and used some "make portal on one wall, then on another" mechanic that hadn't really been done before (I didn't know what Narbacular Drop was.. just that it came out of some projects some art school kids had to do). It turned out to be fantastic and I would make my friends play it and watch them do the puzzles. I plan to be doing that again, and can't wait until the person I'd want to play coop with is free on Tuesday. Any thoughts on Portal/Portal 2? If you're wanting it, I suggest getting the PS3 version if anyone you know has a PS3 that can access PSN, because then you can trade it in for $25 minimum and get that much off the PC version, now that the deal has ended on Steam. I also figure it's not something you want to wait for, as you may just end up being pelted with spoilers without even knowing..

I thought people did like these. Well Battlefield, at least. I've heard no one plays Eternal Silence No one really did like the Mech(ish) combat style one, though. Or BF2 for that matter.

I really enjoyed the podcast that talked about this games history! Quake to whichever engine it's on now, and history on the companies involved, as well as engines. GAH! SUCH A GOOD 20 MINUTES

Road Rash. Like I LOVE. THESE. GAMES. Still, even today, even if it's not looking too pretty.

Alan Wake.

I can't imagine using a keyboard (and mouse?) for this game! That would make it *that* much harder! I got it for cheap on the 360 when it came out, i think i'll pick up the pc version when it comes out in boxed copy

Deadly Premonition! I think it's the best game to come out from a small studio in a long time, everything about it is super janky, but when it comes down to the over all experience, there's really nothing like it

I recently finished the Doom 2 port for 360, man, I haven't beaten that game since 1998 and it's still as hard even though i'm 22. I think Doom 2's my favorite, I played Doom 3 when it came out on PC, but Half-Life 2 ended up over shadowing it when it came around, so I never did get around to finishing it. I played some ZDoom with friends back in the day too, which is always a blast. I got the Doom 3 collectors for 360 a while back so i could have doom 1/2 and 3 all on the same disk and xbox, but didn't play it too much. I found the expansion to be cooler personally (no more holding the flashlight!) Did you guys read the Doom comic at all?
