Because people have differing opinions and they feel the need to vent about it, or in many cases, feel its their 'duty' to prove other people wrong.

Don't really need a style. When I draw, I tend to steal a style, never keeping with one I've created, never keeping with the same one. Sometimes I draw a certain character in their original style, sometimes I draw that same character but in a different one. Just kind of flip flopping. Just draw however makes you feel most comfortable, if you so choose to at all. Just don't go in thinking, 'God this drawing's gonna suck.' because that pretty much guarantees it will be. I know that from waaayyyy too much experience. Anyway, topic.
