Agreed. "Fee to pay" is a stupid concept. It is somewhat defendable if it's in a 20$ game, but not if I paid premium price.

I generally don't remember my own dreams so I don't have much to share in that regard. But I keep drowning in dreams of my friends. To be fair, I can't really swim. So it's not that unrealistic, but still notable.

If the vast majority is unable to access more strategy and variation then those aspects practically aren't there. I feel Hearthstone has actually done an excellent job at "casualizing" card games. If you poke around the Hearthstone community you'll notice that the group of "core Hearthstoners"(can't really think of a better term, but I think you know what I mean) is rather sizable. Keeping the core mechanics simple and introducing cards slowly unto the player(instead of dropping it all at once) really makes it all easier to get into deeper than other card games. Which version?
