Which is just wrong, because especially during that time they are supposed to discover what makes them special and what they will do with their live.

I think so many people are visiting the site that the counter just can't keep up. It seems to display the little tick animation no matter what and go +1 view all the time. So while it says 50000000views it may already be 50000010views, the counter just hasn't had time to count to there yet.
