  1. Am I the only one that long ago downloaded all of the episodes and combined them into one cohesive video?
  2. Hasn't been released yet, but the remake of Dear Esther looks absolutely gorgeous.
  3. Zbrush 4.0 Here's a shot of the head with the interface. I've been working on the character for the past week and a half.
  4. Mhmm. I don't think I like that idea, no matter how foolproof the fail safes are, I can see the perfect accident happening and a radioactive core entering the atmostphere and disintegrating all over thousands of miles of inhabited terrain (= glowing shitstorm). Now, huge orbital solar power plants, I like that idea (getting that energy to earth, whether it be via microwaves, lasers, etc. is left as an exercise to the reader). Since we don't yet have access to Cold or Hot Fusion, Zero point energy or other Holy Grail-like power sources, Fission Reactors are still our best chance, but they have to be done and operated properly... unless you want to keep burning stuff. I get the feeling such fail safes would be more foolproof than that. The plants could be built with auxilary powered barometers to detect altitude. If altitude began to decrease, the plant would go into a safe disposal sequence. And no matter what environmentalists tell you, until we advance solar power technology, it's going to be not much more than a tech demo. It's extremely expensive and creates very limited amounts of power. And yeah, fusion is on the way, and that, when it's done, should solve energy problems for a good while.
  5. It's a remake of Riven, called Starry Expanse. That's actually an old image. Here's a newer one.
  6. Working on a character model for a game.
  7. Personal outlandish opinion: We should build nuclear power plants in geosynchronous orbital space instead of on earth, transmitting resultant power down to earth via laser uplink (real upcoming tech) , and disposing of nuclear materials by jettisoning them from the plants into the sun. The risk of fallout disaster would of course be limited to downed orbiters, and they could be built with disposal fail safes to prevent this.
  8. REM - Discoverer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uMf-JxR5mQ And I made this remix of a Killzone 3 track, for a contest. Certainly not listening to it at this point though. I heard it enough in the six hours I spent making it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWdkggWIaqU
  9. This is me. I think I was wearing my MPEG compression when I took this though.
  10. Either Myst or Lemmings. My family had a Windows 95 computer with those two games. Of course, at four years old, I didn't understand Myst, but I liked to explore the main island. Lemmings I played a lot, but of course at four I also considered the harder difficulties no-mans-land.
  11. Gran Turismo 5. I got addicted to this game for about a month, modding and racing cars and just having fun with it, saving up money to buy bigger and better cars. I got really good at the techniques of racing physics in GT5, and I actually won a seasonal event worth 1.5 million credits, for doing a two hour race around the Nurburgring I believe in some sort of honda hybrid.
  12. I get the feeling the lack of contact with fans has been because they're making some sort of deal with Valve. As has been said, it basically looks finished by now.
  13. 1. Shadow of the Colossus The most epic soundtrack ever. Itunes claims this is my most listened to album, out of about 550. 2. Riven Beautiful soundtrack. Added to the sense of mystery and the player's emotional state quite a lot. 3. Bully Great soulful jams mixed with some elctronic dj stuff. 4. Scratches Music really added to butter-thick atmosphere in this game.
  14. With the amount of time they've been developing, I'd say it's probably Half Life 3, the length and span of Half Life 2.
  15. Yeah. I never thought the ending made any sense, after the explanation of how the time travel actually worked with parallel universes. I'm reading Stranger in a Strange Land currently. Really good so far.
  16. For both that "creature firing the homing organic bombs" and the wailing monstrosities growing out of the walls, shoot Javelins into the center and use the alternative fire. The electrocution will take it out pretty quickly, and if you've upgraded the Javelin gun to have the explosion after the electricity, it'll do even better. On survivalist difficulty, those things took 4 or 5 javelin ammo, tops. Another fun trick: When you've got a bunch of the kids running at you, shoot a javelin on the ground and electrify it. The moment one of the kids gets inside the radius, it'll die in an instant. Good survival tactic: If you pop one of the creatures filled with the crawly insect things, immediately use alternative fire on the Javelin when the critters come out. It'll kill all of them in one blow.
  17. You mean like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? Looked that up. Not really. Kind of like the Assassin's Creed 2 E3 trailer: The main weakness in realistic human animation is human characters, but of course, SotC is based very little around humans, and more around the amazing environments and colossi.
  18. 1. Shadow of the Colossus 2. Riven: The Sequel to Myst 3. Ico 4. Half Life 2 (and eps) 5. Myst 6. Psychonauts 7. Portal 8. Heavy Rain 9. Shenmue 10. Half Life 1
  19. Shadow of the Colossus. I realize they're considering and perhaps already making this, but it's unfortunately probably going to be a pile of hollywood crap. My idea of the perfect SotC movie. 1. Computer animated. Not anime, or anything like that, but hyper-real Blur Studio quality animation befitting cutscenes from a next-next-next generation game. I think live action would look awkward in such a fantastical setting, and computer animation would allow the director free range to make the best looking movie possible. 2. Sticks to the mood of the original. The plot would remain as mysterious as it was in the game, with only enough added to fill a movie storyline. I imagine a lengthy prequel act showing the sacrifice of Mono, Wander stealing the sword, ect. 3. Use the fictional language. The fictional language designed for the games is one of the things that gives the game it's special flavor. 4. Not much dialogue, story told visually and musically. SotC was a visually beautiful game, so a storytelling style reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey might be warranted. 5. Music by Koh Otani. Otani's music from the game was one of the more amazing parts of the experience, and that would have to be carried over. 6. No changing the ending. The ending of SotC was amazing, and while it might not be very concusive or hollywood, it should remain the way it was, perhaps with a nod to the future events of Ico. 7. No colossus montage. I know there are 16 of them, but perhaps just skip most, only including 3, 5, 9, 16, and the other more epic ones.
  20. Saw this a few weeks ago and it's a pretty awesome summary of great freeman's mind moments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCxv1acdKso "I am captian freeman of the intergalactic house of pancakes, ordering you to open!"
  21. A few t-shirt worthy freeman's mind quotes: "Yes. It IS good to see me." "My enemy is the enemy of my other enemy." "That was totally self defense. Having a sub-machine gun just lets me defend more efficiently." "At least this shotgun won't deceive me. It's filled with pellets, not lies."
